1 A nd concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need of my writing to you,

А про часи та про пори, брати, не потрібно писати до вас,

2 f or yourselves have known thoroughly that the day of the Lord as a thief in the night doth so come,

бо самі ви докладно те знаєте, що прийде день Господній так, як злодій вночі.

3 f or when they may say, Peace and surety, then sudden destruction doth stand by them, as the travail her who is with child, and they shall not escape;

Бо коли говоритимуть: Мир і безпечність, тоді несподівано прийде загибіль на них, як мука тієї, що носить в утробі, і вони не втечуть!

4 a nd ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day may catch you as a thief;

А ви, браття, не в темряві, щоб той день захопив вас, як злодій.

5 a ll ye are sons of light, and sons of day; we are not of night, nor of darkness,

Бо ви всі сини світла й сини дня. Не належимо ми ночі, ні темряві.

6 s o, then, we may not sleep as also the others, but watch and be sober,

Тож не будемо спати, як інші, а пильнуймо та будьмо тверезі!

7 f or those sleeping, by night do sleep, and those making themselves drunk, by night are drunken,

Ті бо, що сплять сплять уночі, а ті, що напиваються вночі напиваються.

8 a nd we, being of the day -- let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and an helmet -- a hope of salvation,

А ми, що належимо дневі, будьмо тверезі, зодягнувшися в броню віри й любови, та в шолом надії спасіння,

9 b ecause God did not appoint us to anger, but to the acquiring of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

бо Бог нас не призначив на гнів, але щоб спасіння одержали Господом нашим Ісусом Христом,

10 w ho did die for us, that whether we wake -- whether we sleep -- together with him we may live;

що помер був за нас, щоб, чи пильнуємо ми чи спимо, укупі з Ним ми жили.

11 w herefore, comfort ye one another, and build ye up, one the one, as also ye do.

Утішайте тому один одного, і збудовуйте один одного, як і чините ви!

12 A nd we ask you, brethren, to know those labouring among you, and leading you in the Lord, and admonishing you,

Благаємо ж, браття, ми вас, шануйте тих, що працюють між вами, і в вас старшинують у Господі, і навчають вас вони,

13 a nd to esteem them very abundantly in love, because of their work; be at peace among yourselves;

і в великій любові їх майте за їхню працю. Між собою заховуйте мир!

14 a nd we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the infirm, be patient unto all;

Благаємо ж, браття, ми вас: напоумляйте непорядних, потішайте малодушних, підтримуйте слабих, усім довготерпіть!

15 s ee no one evil for evil may render to any one, but always that which is good pursue ye, both to one another and to all;

Глядіть, щоб ніхто нікому не віддавав злом за зло, але завжди дбайте про добро один для одного й для всіх!

16 a lways rejoice ye;

Завжди радійте!

17 c ontinually pray ye;

Безперестанку моліться!

18 i n every thing give thanks, for this the will of God in Christ Jesus in regard to you.

Подяку складайте за все, бо така Божа воля про вас у Христі Ісусі.

19 T he Spirit quench not;

Духа не вгашайте!

20 p rophesyings despise not;

Не гордуйте пророцтвами!

21 a ll things prove; that which is good hold fast;

Усе досліджуючи, тримайтеся доброго!

22 f rom all appearance of evil abstain ye;

Стережіться лихого в усякому вигляді!

23 a nd the God of the peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your whole spirit, and soul, and body, be preserved unblameably in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ;

А Сам Бог миру нехай освятить вас цілком досконало, а непорушений дух ваш, і душа, і тіло нехай непорочно збережені будуть на прихід Господа нашого Ісуса Христа!

24 s tedfast is He who is calling you, who also will do.

Вірний Той, Хто вас кличе, Він і вчинить оте!

25 B rethren, pray for us;

Браття, моліться за нас!

26 s alute all the brethren in an holy kiss;

Привітайте всю браттю святим поцілунком!

27 I charge you the Lord, that the letter be read to all the holy brethren;

Заклинаю вас Господом, цього листа прочитати перед усіма братами!

28 t he grace of our Lord Jesus Christ with you! Amen.

Благодать Господа нашого Ісуса Христа нехай буде з вами. Амінь!
