1 A nd there is a man of the hill-country of Ephraim, and his name Micah,

І був чоловік з Єфремових гір, а ім'я йому Миха.

2 a nd he saith to his mother, `The eleven hundred silverlings which have been taken of thine, and thou hast sworn, and also spoken in mine ears; lo, the silver with me, I have taken it;' and his mother saith, `Blessed my son of Jehovah.'

І сказав він до своєї матері: Тисяча й сто шеклів срібла, що в тебе взяті, а ти прокляла за них, і також сказала це, щоб і я чув, ось те срібло зо мною, це я його взяв. І сказала мати його: Благословенний син мій у Господа!

3 A nd he giveth back the eleven hundred silverlings to his mother, and his mother saith, `I had certainly sanctified the silver to Jehovah, from my hand, for my son, to make a graven image, and a molten image; and now, I give it back to thee.'

І він вернув ту тисячу й сто шеклів срібла своїй матері. І сказала його мати: Я справді посвятила те срібло Господеві з своєї руки за сина свого, щоб зробити боввана різьбленого та боввана литого. А тепер звертаю його тобі.

4 A nd he giveth back the money to his mother, and his mother taketh two hundred silverlings, and giveth them to a refiner, and he maketh them a graven image, and a molten image, and it is in the house of Micah.

Та він вернув те срібло своїй матері. І взяла його мати дві сотні шеклів срібла та й дала його золотареві, а він зробив із нього боввана різьбленого та боввана литого; і було це в домі Михи.

5 A s to the man Micah, he hath a house of gods, and he maketh an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrateth the hand of one of his sons, and he is to him for a priest;

А цей чоловік Миха мав удома божницю. І зробив він ефода та терафи, і висвятив одного з синів своїх, і він був йому за священика.

6 i n those days there is no king in Israel, each that which is right in his own eyes doth.

Того часу не було царя в Ізраїлі, кожен робив, що правдиве було в його очах.

7 A nd there is a young man of Beth-Lehem-Judah, of the family of Judah, and he a Levite, and he a sojourner there.

І був юнак із Віфлеєму Юдиного, з Юдиного роду, а він Левит, і він був там приходько.

8 A nd the man goeth out of the city, out of Beth-Lehem-Judah, to sojourn where he doth find, and cometh to the hill-country of Ephraim, unto the house of Micah, to work his way.

І пішов той чоловік з того міста, із Віфлеєму Юдиного, щоб часово пожити, де знайде. І прийшов він до Єфремових гір до дому Михи, щоб далі йти своєю дорогою.

9 A nd Micah saith to him, `Whence comest thou?' and he saith unto him, `A Levite I, of Beth-Lehem-Judah, and I am going to sojourn where I do find.'

І сказав йому Миха: Звідкіля ти приходиш? А той йому відказав: Я Левит із Віфлеєму Юдейського, а я йду, щоб часово пожити, де знайду.

10 A nd Micah saith to him, `Dwell with me, and be to me for a father and for a priest, and I give to thee ten silverlings for the days, and a suit of garments, and thy sustenance;' and the Levite goeth.

І сказав йому Миха: Зоставайся ж зо мною, і будь мені за отця та за священика, а я дам тобі десять шеклів срібла на рік і потрібну одежу та поживу твою. І пішов той Левит до нього,

11 A nd the Levite is willing to dwell with the man, and the young man is to him as one of his sons.

і погодився Левит сидіти з тим чоловіком. І був той юнак йому, як один із синів його.

12 A nd Micah consecrateth the hand of the Levite, and the young man is to him for a priest, and he is in the house of Micah,

І Миха висвятив того Левита, і був йому той юнак за священика, і був у Михиному домі.

13 a nd Micah saith, `Now I have known that Jehovah doth good to me, for the Levite hath been to me for a priest.'

І сказав Миха: Тепер я знаю, що Господь зробить добро мені, бо цей Левит став мені за священика.
