1 W herefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the apostle and chief priest of our profession, Christ Jesus,

Отож, святі брати, учасники небесного покликання, уважайте на Апостола й Первосвященика нашого ісповідання, Ісуса,

2 b eing stedfast to Him who did appoint him, as also Moses in all his house,

що вірний Тому, Хто настановив Його, як був і Мойсей у всім домі Його,

3 f or of more glory than Moses hath this one been counted worthy, inasmuch as more honour than the house hath he who doth build it,

бо гідний Він вищої слави понад Мойсея, поскільки будівничий має більшу честь, аніж дім.

4 f or every house is builded by some one, and He who the all things did build God,

Усякий бо дім хтось будує, а Той, хто все збудував, то Бог.

5 a nd Moses indeed stedfast in all his house, as an attendant, for a testimony of those things that were to be spoken,

І Мойсей вірний був у всім домі Його, як слуга, на свідоцтво того, що сказати повинно було.

6 a nd Christ, as a Son over his house, whose house are we, if the boldness and the rejoicing of the hope unto the end we hold fast.

Христос же, як Син, у Його домі. А дім Його ми, коли тільки відвагу й похвалу надії додержимо певними аж до кінця.

7 W herefore, (as the Holy Spirit saith, `To-day, if His voice ye may hear --

Тому то, як каже Дух Святий: Сьогодні, як голос Його ви почуєте,

8 y e may not harden your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of the temptation in the wilderness,

не робіть затверділими ваших сердець, як під час нарікань, за дня випробовування на пустині,

9 i n which tempt Me did your fathers, they did prove Me, and saw My works forty years;

де Мене випробовували отці ваші, Мене випробовували, і бачили працю Мою сорок років.

10 w herefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, Always do they go astray in heart, and these have not known My ways;

Через це Я розгнівався був на той рід і сказав: Постійно вони блудять серцем, вони не пізнали доріг Моїх,

11 s o I sware in My anger, If they shall enter into My rest --!')

тому Я присягнув був у гніві Своїм, що вони до Мого відпочинку не ввійдуть!

12 S ee, brethren, lest there shall be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in the falling away from the living God,

Стережіться, брати, щоб у комусь із вас не було злого серця невірства, що воно відступало б від Бога Живого!

13 b ut exhort ye one another every day, while the To-day is called, that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of the sin,

Але кожного дня заохочуйте один одного, доки зветься Сьогодні, щоб запеклим не став котрий з вас через підступ гріха.

14 f or partakers we have become of the Christ, if the beginning of the confidence unto the end we may hold fast,

Бо ми стали учасниками Христа, коли тільки почате життя ми затримаємо певним аж до кінця,

15 i n its being said, `To-day, if His voice ye may hear, ye may not harden your hearts, as in the provocation,'

аж поки говориться: Сьогодні, як голос Його ви почуєте, не робіть затверділими ваших сердець, як під час нарікань!

16 f or certain having heard did provoke, but not all who did come out of Egypt through Moses;

Котрі бо, почувши, розгнівали Бога? Чи не всі, хто з Єгипту вийшов з Мойсеєм?

17 b ut with whom was He grieved forty years? was it not with those who did sin, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness?

На кого ж Він гнівався був сорок років? Хіба не на тих, хто згрішив, що їхні кості в пустині полягли?

18 a nd to whom did He swear that they shall not enter into His rest, except to those who did not believe? --

Проти кого Він був присягався, що не ввійдуть вони до Його відпочинку, як не проти неслухняних?

19 a nd we see that they were not able to enter in because of unbelief.

І ми бачимо, що вони не змогли ввійти за невірство.
