1 A nd certain having come down from Judea, were teaching the brethren -- `If ye be not circumcised after the custom of Moses, ye are not able to be saved;'

А дехто, що з Юдеї прийшли, навчали братів: Якщо ви не обріжетеся за звичаєм Мойсеєвим, то спастися не можете.

2 t here having been, therefore, not a little dissension and disputation to Paul and Barnabas with them, they arranged for Paul and Barnabas, and certain others of them, to go up unto the apostles and elders to Jerusalem about this question,

Коли ж суперечка повстала й чимале змагання в Павла та в Варнави з ними, то постановили, щоб Павло та Варнава, та дехто ще інший із них, пішли в справі цій до апостолів й старших у Єрусалим.

3 t hey indeed, then, having been sent forward by the assembly, were passing through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the nations, and they were causing great joy to all the brethren.

Тож вони, відпроваджені Церквою, ішли через Фінікію та Самарію, розповідуючи про поганське навернення, і радість велику чинили всім браттям.

4 A nd having come to Jerusalem, they were received by the assembly, and the apostles, and the elders, they declared also as many things as God did with them;

Коли ж в Єрусалим прибули вони, були прийняті Церквою, та апостолами, та старшими, і вони розповіли, як багато вчинив Бог із ними.

5 a nd there rose up certain of those of the sect of the Pharisees who believed, saying -- `It behoveth to circumcise them, to command them also to keep the law of Moses.'

Але дехто, що ввірували з фарисейської партії, устали й сказали, що потрібно поганів обрізувати й наказати, щоб Закона Мойсеєвого берегли.

6 A nd there were gathered together the apostles and the elders, to see about this matter,

І зібрались апостоли й старші, щоб розглянути справу оцю.

7 a nd there having been much disputing, Peter having risen up said unto them, `Men, brethren, ye know that from former days, God among us did make choice, through my mouth, for the nations to hear the word of the good news, and to believe;

Як велике ж змагання повстало, Петро встав і промовив до них: Мужі-браття, ви знаєте, що з давнішніх днів вибрав Бог поміж нами мене, щоб погани почули слово Євангелії через уста мої, та й увірували.

8 a nd the heart-knowing God did bare them testimony, having given to them the Holy Spirit, even as also to us,

І засвідчив їм Бог Серцезнавець, давши їм Духа Святого, як і нам,

9 a nd did put no difference also between us and them, by the faith having purified their hearts;

і між нами та ними різниці Він жадної не вчинив, очистивши вірою їхні серця.

10 n ow, therefore, why do ye tempt God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

Отож, чого Бога тепер спокушуєте, щоб учням на шию покласти ярмо, якого ані наші отці, ані ми не здолали понести?

11 b ut, through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, we believe to be saved, even as also they.'

Та ми віруємо, що спасемося благодаттю Господа Ісуса так само, як і вони.

12 A nd all the multitude did keep silence, and were hearkening to Barnabas and Paul, declaring as many signs and wonders as God did among the nations through them;

І вся громада замовкла, і слухали пильно Варнаву й Павла, що розповідали, які то знамена та чуда вчинив через них Бог між поганами!

13 a nd after they are silent, James answered, saying, `Men, brethren, hearken to me;

Як замовкли ж вони, то Яків озвався й промовив: Мужі-браття, послухайте також мене.

14 S imeon did declare how at first God did look after to take out of the nations a people for His name,

Симон ось розповів, як зглянувся Бог від початку, щоб вибрати люд із поганів для Ймення Свого.

15 a nd to this agree the words of the prophets, as it hath been written:

І пророчі слова з цим погоджуються, як написано:

16 A fter these things I will turn back, and I will build again the tabernacle of David, that is fallen down, and its ruins I will build again, and will set it upright --

Потому вернуся, і відбудую Давидову скинію занепалу, і відбудую руїни її, і наново поставлю її,

17 t hat the residue of men may seek after the Lord, and all the nations, upon whom My name hath been called, saith the Lord, who is doing all these things.

щоб шукали Господа люди зосталі та всі народи, над якими Ім'я Моє кликано, говорить Господь, що чинить це все!

18 ` Known from the ages to God are all His works;

Господеві відвіку відомі всі вчинки Його.

19 w herefore I judge: not to trouble those who from the nations do turn back to God,

Тому думаю я, щоб не турбувати поган, що до Бога навертаються,

20 b ut to write to them to abstain from the pollutions of the idols, and the whoredom, and the strangled thing; and the blood;

але написати до них, щоб стримувались від занечищення ідольського, та від блуду, і задушенини, і від крови.

21 f or Moses from former generations in every city hath those preaching him -- in the synagogues every sabbath being read.'

Бо своїх проповідників має Мойсей по містах здавендавна, і щосуботи читають його в синагогах.

22 T hen it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole assembly, chosen men out of themselves to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas -- Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren --

Тоді постановили апостоли й старші з цілою Церквою вибрати мужів із них, і послати до Антіохії з Павлом та Варнавою Юду, що зветься Варсавва, і Силу, мужів проводирів між братами,

23 h aving written through their hand thus: `The apostles, and the elders, and the brethren, to those in Antioch, and Syria, and Cilicia, brethren, who of the nations, greeting;

написавши своїми руками оце: Апостоли й старші брати до братів, що з поган в Антіохії, і Сирії, і Кілікії: Вітаємо вас!

24 s eeing we have heard that certain having gone forth from us did trouble you with words, subverting your souls, saying to be circumcised and to keep the law, to whom we did give no charge,

Через те, що ми чули, що деякі з вас, яким ми того не доручували, стурбували наукою вас, і захитали вам душі,

25 i t seemed good to us, having come together with one accord, chosen men to send unto you, with our beloved Barnabas and Paul --

то ми постановили однодушно, зібравшися, щоб обраних мужів послати до вас із коханими нашими Варнавою та Павлом,

26 m en who have given up their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ --

людьми тими, що душі свої віддали за Ім'я Господа нашого Ісуса Христа.

27 w e have sent, therefore, Judas and Silas, and they by word are telling the same things.

Тож ми Юду та Силу послали, що вияснять усно те саме.

28 ` For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, no more burden to lay upon you, except these necessary things:

Бо зволилось Духові Святому і нам, тягару вже ніякого не накладати на вас, окрім цього необхідного:

29 t o abstain from things offered to idols, and blood, and a strangled thing, and whoredom; from which keeping yourselves, ye shall do well; be strong!'

стримуватися від ідольських жертов та крови, і задушенини, та від блуду. Оберегаючися від того, ви зробите добре. Бувайте здорові!...

30 T hey then, indeed, having been let go, went to Antioch, and having brought the multitude together, did deliver the epistle,

Посланці ж прийшли в Антіохію, і, зібравши народ, доручили листа.

31 a nd they having read, did rejoice for the consolation;

А перечитавши, раділи з потішення того.

32 J udas also and Silas, being themselves also prophets, through much discourse did exhort the brethren, and confirm,

А Юда та Сила, самі бувши пророками, частим словом підбадьорували та зміцняли братів.

33 a nd having passed some time, they were let go with peace from the brethren unto the apostles;

А як перебули вони там якийсь час, то брати їх відпустили з миром до тих, хто їх вислав.

34 a nd it seemed good to Silas to remain there still.

Але Сила схотів лишитися там, а Юда вернувся до Єрусалиму.

35 A nd Paul and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and proclaiming good news -- with many others also -- the word of the Lord;

А Павло з Варнавою в Антіохії жили, навчаючи та благовістячи разом із іншими багатьома Слово Господнє.

36 a nd after certain days, Paul said unto Barnabas, `Having turned back again, we may look after our brethren, in every city in which we have preached the word of the Lord -- how they are.'

А по декількох днях промовив Павло до Варнави: Ходімо знов, і відвідаймо наших братів у кожному місті, де ми провіщали Слово Господнє, як вони пробувають.

37 A nd Barnabas counseled to take with John called Mark,

А Варнава хотів був узяти з собою Івана, що званий був Марком.

38 a nd Paul was not thinking it good to take him with them who withdrew from them from Pamphylia, and did not go with them to the work;

Та Павло вважав за потрібне не брати з собою того, хто від них відлучився з Памфілії, та з ними на працю не йшов.

39 t here came, therefore, a sharp contention, so that they were parted from one another, and Barnabas having taken Mark, did sail to Cyprus,

І повстала незгода, і розлучились вони між собою. Тож Варнава взяв Марка, і поплинув до Кіпру.

40 a nd Paul having chosen Silas, went forth, having been given up to the grace of God by the brethren;

А Павло вибрав Силу й пішов, Божій благодаті братами доручений.

41 a nd he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the assemblies.

І проходив він Сирію та Кілікію, Церкви зміцнюючи.
