1 A nd Abraham old, he hath entered into days, and Jehovah hath blessed Abraham in all;

А Авраам був старий, у літа ввійшов. І Господь Авраама поблагословив був усім.

2 a nd Abraham saith unto his servant, the eldest of his house, who is ruling over all that he hath, `Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh,

І сказав Авраам до свого раба, найстаршого дому свого, що рядив над усім, що він мав: Поклади свою руку під стегно моє,

3 a nd I cause thee to swear by Jehovah, God of the heavens, and God of the earth, that thou dost not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanite, in the midst of whom I am dwelling;

і я заприсягну тебе Господом, Богом неба й Богом землі, що ти не візьмеш жінки для сина мого з-посеред дочок ханаанеянина, серед якого я пробуваю.

4 b ut unto my land and unto my kindred dost thou go, and hast taken a wife for my son, for Isaac.'

Бо ти підеш до краю мого, і до місця мого народження, і візьмеш жінку для сина мого, для Ісака.

5 A nd the servant saith unto him, `It may be the woman is not willing to come after me unto this land; do I at all cause thy son to turn back unto the land from whence thou camest out?'

І сказав раб до нього: Може та жінка не схоче за мною піти до цієї землі, то чи справді поверну я твого сина до краю, звідки ти вийшов?

6 A nd Abraham saith unto him, `Take heed to thyself, lest thou cause my son to turn back thither;

І промовив до нього Авраам: Стережися, щоб ти не вернув мого сина туди!

7 J ehovah, God of the heavens, who hath taken me from the house of my father, and from the land of my birth, and who hath spoken to me, and who hath sworn to me, saying, To thy seed I give this land, He doth send His messenger before thee, and thou hast taken a wife for my son from thence;

Господь, що взяв мене з дому батька мого й з краю мого народження, і що промовляв був до мене, і що присягнув мені, кажучи: Твоїм нащадкам Я дам оцю землю, Він пошле Свого Ангола перед обличчям твоїм, і ти візьмеш звідти жінку для сина мого!

8 a nd if the woman be not willing to come after thee, then thou hast been acquitted from this mine oath: only my son thou dost not cause to turn back thither.'

А коли ота жінка не схоче піти за тобою, то ти будеш очищений з цієї присяги своєї. Тільки сина мого ти туди не вертай.

9 A nd the servant putteth his hand under the thigh of Abraham his lord, and sweareth to him concerning this matter.

І раб поклав свою руку під стегно Авраама, пана свого, і йому присягнув на цю справу.

10 A nd the servant taketh ten camels of the camels of his lord and goeth, also of all the goods of his lord in his hand, and he riseth, and goeth unto Aram-Naharaim, unto the city of Nahor;

І взяв той раб десять верблюдів із верблюдів пана свого, та й пішов. І взяв різне добро свого пана в руку свою. І він устав, і пішов в Месопотамію до міста Нахора.

11 a nd he causeth the camels to kneel at the outside of the city, at the well of water, at even-time, at the time of the coming out of the women who draw water.

І поставив верблюди навколішки за містом при водній криниці надвечір, на час, як виходять жінки воду брати,

12 A nd he saith, `Jehovah, God of my lord Abraham, cause to meet, I pray Thee, before me this day -- (and do kindness with my lord Abraham;

та й промовив: Господи, Боже пана мого Авраама, подай же сьогодні мені це, і милість вчини з паном моїм Авраамом!

13 l o, I am standing by the fountain of water, and daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water;

Ось я стою над водним джерелом, а дочки мешканців міста виходять воду брати.

14 a nd it hath been, the young person unto whom I say, Incline, I pray thee, thy pitcher, and I drink, and she hath said, Drink, and I water also thy camels) -- her Thou hast decided for Thy servant, for Isaac; and by it I know that Thou hast done kindness with my lord.'

І станеться, що дівчина, до якої скажу: Нахили но глека свого, я нап'юся, а вона відповість: Пий, і так само верблюди твої я понапуваю, її Ти призначив для раба Свого, для Ісака. І з цього пізнаю, що Ти милість учинив з моїм паном.

15 A nd it cometh to pass, before he hath finished speaking, that lo, Rebekah (who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, wife of Nahor, brother of Abraham) is coming out, and her pitcher on her shoulder,

І сталося, поки він закінчив говорити, аж ось виходить Ревека, що була народжена Бетуїлові, синові Мілки, жінки Нахора, Авраамового брата. А її глек на плечі в неї.

16 a nd the young person of very good appearance, a virgin, and a man hath not known her; and she goeth down to the fountain, and filleth her pitcher, and cometh up.

А дівчина та вельми вродлива з обличчя; була дівиця, і чоловік не пізнав ще її. І зійшла вона до джерела, і наповнила глека свого, та й вийшла.

17 A nd the servant runneth to meet her, and saith, `Let me swallow, I pray thee, a little water from thy pitcher;'

І вибіг той раб назустріч їй, та й сказав: Дай но напитись води з твого глека!

18 a nd she saith, `Drink, my lord;' and she hasteth, and letteth down her pitcher upon her hand, and giveth him drink.

А та відказала: Напийся, мій пане! І вона поспішила, і зняла свого глека на руку свою, і напоїла його.

19 A nd she finisheth giving him drink, and saith, `Also for thy camels I draw till they have finished drinking;'

А коли закінчила поїти його, то сказала: Також для верблюдів твоїх наберу я води, аж поки вони не нап'ються.

20 a nd she hasteth, and emptieth her pitcher into the drinking-trough, and runneth again unto the well to draw, and draweth for all his camels.

І метнулась вона, і глека свого спорожнила до пійла. І ще до криниці побігла набрати, і набрала води всім верблюдам його.

21 A nd the man, wondering at her, remaineth silent, to know whether Jehovah hath made his way prosperous or not.

А чоловік той дивувався їй та мовчав, щоб пізнати, чи Господь пощастив дорогу йому, чи ні?

22 A nd it cometh to pass when the camels have finished drinking, that the man taketh a golden ring (whose weight a bekah), and two bracelets for her hands (whose weight ten of gold),

І сталося, як перестали верблюди пити, то взяв той чоловік золоту сережку, пів шекля вага їй, і два наручні на руки її, на десять шеклів золота вага їм,

23 a nd saith, `Whose daughter thou? declare to me, I pray thee, is the house of thy father a place for us to lodge in?'

та й сказав: Чия ти дочка? Скажи ж мені, чи в домі батька твойого є місце для нас ночувати?

24 A nd she saith unto him, `I daughter of Bethuel, son of Milcah, whom she hath borne to Nahor.'

Вона відказала йому: Я дочка Бетуїла, сина Мілки, що його породила вона для Нахора.

25 S he saith also unto him, `Both straw and provender abundant with us, also a place to lodge in.'

І сказала до нього: І соломи, і паші багато є в нас, також місце ночувати.

26 A nd the man boweth, and doth obeisance to Jehovah,

І той чоловік нахилився, і вклонився Богові аж до землі,

27 a nd saith, `Blessed Jehovah, God of my lord Abraham, who hath not left off His kindness and His truth with my lord; -- I in the way, Jehovah hath led me to the house of my lord's brethren.'

та й сказав: Благословенний Господь, Бог пана мого Авраама, що не опустив милости Своєї й вірности Своєї від пана мого! Я був у дорозі, Господь припровадив мене до дому братів мого пана.

28 A nd the young person runneth, and declareth to the house of her mother according to these words.

І побігла дівчина, і розповіла в домі своєї матері про цю пригоду.

29 A nd Rebekah hath a brother, and his name Laban, and Laban runneth unto the man who without, unto the fountain;

А в Ревеки був брат, на ймення йому Лаван. І побіг Лаван до того чоловіка надвір, до джерела.

30 y ea, it cometh to pass, when he seeth the ring, and the bracelets on the hands of his sister, and when he heareth the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, `Thus hath the man spoken unto me,' that he cometh in unto the man, and lo, he is standing by the camels by the fountain.

І сталося, як він побачив сережку та наручні на руках сестри своєї, і коли почув слова Ревеки, сестри своєї, що говорила: Отак говорив мені той чоловік, то прибув він до того чоловіка, а той ось стоїть при верблюдах біля джерела,

31 A nd he saith, `Come in, O blessed one of Jehovah, why standest thou without, and I -- I have prepared the house and place for the camels!'

і сказав: Увійди, благословенний Господа! Чого стоятимеш надворі? А я опорожнив дім і місце для верблюдів.

32 A nd he bringeth in the man into the house, and looseth the camels, and giveth straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet, and the feet of the men who with him:

І ввійшов той чоловік до дому. А Лаван порозсідлував верблюди, і дав соломи й паші для верблюдів, і води, щоб умити ноги йому й ноги людям, що були з ним.

33 a nd setteth before him to eat; but he saith, `I do not eat till I have spoken my word;' and he saith, `Speak.'

І поставлено перед ним, щоб він їв. А той відказав: Не буду їсти, аж поки не розкажу своєї справи. А Лаван відказав: Говори!

34 A nd he saith, `I Abraham's servant;

І той став говорити: Я раб Авраамів.

35 a nd Jehovah hath blessed my lord exceedingly, and he is great; and He giveth to him flock, and herd, and silver, and gold, and men-servants, and maid-servants, and camels, and asses;

А Господь щедро поблагословив мого пана, і він став великий. І дав Він йому худобу дрібну та велику, і срібло, і золото, і рабів, і невільниць, і верблюди, й осли.

36 a nd Sarah, my lord's wife, beareth a son to my lord, after she hath been aged, and he giveth to him all that he hath.

А Сарра, жінка пана мого, бувши старою, уродила панові моєму сина. А він йому все дав, що мав.

37 ` And my lord causeth me to swear, saying, Thou dost not take a wife to my son from the daughters of the Canaanite, in whose land I am dwelling.

І заприсяг мене пан мій, говорячи: Не візьмеш жінки для сина мого з-посеред дочок ханаанеянина, що я пробуваю в його краю.

38 I f not -- unto the house of my father thou dost go, and unto my family, and thou hast taken a wife for my son.

Але підеш до дому батька мого, і до мого роду, і візьмеш жінку для сина мого.

39 ` And I say unto my lord, It may be the woman doth not come after me;

І сказав я до пана свого: Може та жінка не піде за мною?

40 a nd he saith unto me, Jehovah, before whom I have walked habitually, doth send His messenger with thee, and hath prospered thy way, and thou hast taken a wife for my son from my family, and from the house of my father;

І сказав він до мене: Господь, що ходив перед обличчям моїм, пошле Свого Ангола з тобою, і дорогу твою пощастить, і ти візьмеш жінку для сина мого з роду мого й з дому батька мого.

41 t hen art thou acquitted from my oath, when thou comest unto my family, and if they give not to thee; then thou hast been acquitted from my oath.

Тоді будеш очищений ти від закляття мого, як прийдеш до роду мого, а коли вони не дадуть тобі, то будеш ти чистий від закляття мого.

42 ` And I come to-day unto the fountain, and I say, Jehovah, God of my lord Abraham, if Thou art, I pray Thee, making prosperous my way in which I am going --

І прибув я сьогодні до джерела, та й сказав: Господи, Боже пана мого Авраама, коли б же Ти вчинив щасливою дорогу мою, що нею ходжу я!

43 ( lo, I am standing by the fountain of water), then the virgin who is coming out to draw, and I have said unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee, a little water from thy pitcher,

Ось я стою над джерелом води, і станеться, що дівчина, яка вийде води брати, а я їй скажу: Дай но мені напитися трохи води з свого глека,

44 a nd she hath said unto me, Both drink thou, and also for thy camels I draw -- she is the woman whom Jehovah hath decided for my lord's son.

вона ж відкаже мені: Пий і ти, і для верблюдів твоїх наберу я води, то вона та жінка, яку призначив Господь для сина пана мого.

45 ` Before I finish speaking unto my heart, then lo, Rebekah is coming out, and her pitcher on her shoulder, and she goeth down to the fountain, and draweth; and I say unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee,

І поки скінчив я говорити в своїм серці, аж ось виходить Ревека, а її глек на плечі в неї. І зійшла вона до джерела, та й набрала води. І сказав я до неї: Напій же мене!

46 a nd she hasteth and letteth down her pitcher from off her and saith, Drink, and thy camels also I water; and I drink, and the camels also she hath watered.

І метнулась вона, і свого глека з себе зняла та й сказала: Пий, а я понапуваю й верблюди твої. І я пив, а вона понапувала й ті верблюди.

47 ` And I ask her, and say, Whose daughter thou? and she saith, Daughter of Bethuel, son of Nahor, whom Milcah hath borne to him, and I put the ring on her nose, and the bracelets on her hands,

А я запитався її та й сказав: Чия ти дочка? А вона відказала: Я дочка Бетуїла, сина Нахорового, якого породила йому Мілка. І сережку надів я до носа її, і наручні на руки її.

48 a nd I bow, and do obeisance before Jehovah, and I bless Jehovah, God of my lord Abraham, who hath led me in the true way to receive the daughter of my lord's brother for his son.

І я нахилився, і вклонився до землі Господеві, і поблагословив Господа, Бога пана мого Авраама, що Він провадив мене дорогою визначеною, щоб узяти дочку брата пана мого для сина його.

49 ` And now, if ye are dealing kindly and truly with my lord, declare to me; and if not, declare to me; and I turn unto the right or unto the left.'

А тепер, якщо милосердя та правду ви чините з паном моїм, то скажіть мені; коли ж ні, то скажіть мені, і я звернуся праворуч або ліворуч.

50 A nd Laban answereth -- Bethuel also -- and they say, `The thing hath gone out from Jehovah; we are not able to speak unto thee bad or good;

І відповіли Лаван і Бетуїл та й сказали: Від Господа вийшла та річ, ми не можем сказати тобі нічого злого чи доброго.

51 l o, Rebekah before thee, take and go, and she is a wife to thy lord's son, as Jehovah hath spoken.'

Ось перед тобою Ревека, візьми та й іди, і нехай вона стане за жінку синові пана твого, як Господь говорив був.

52 A nd it cometh to pass, when the servant of Abraham hath heard their words, that he boweth himself towards the earth before Jehovah;

І сталося, коли їхні слова почув раб Авраамів, то вклонивсь до землі Господеві.

53 a nd the servant taketh out vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and garments, and giveth to Rebekah; precious things also he hath given to her brother and to her mother.

І вийняв той раб срібний посуд, і посуд золотий та шати, і дав Ревеці, і дав цінні речі братові її та матері її.

54 A nd they eat and drink, he and the men who with him, and lodge all night; and they rise in the morning, and he saith, `Send me to my lord;'

І їли й пили він та люди, що з ним, і ночували. А коли рано встали, то він сказав: Відішліть мене до пана мого.

55 a nd her brother saith -- her mother also -- `Let the young person abide with us a week or ten days, afterwards doth she go.'

І сказав її брат та мати її: Нехай посидить дівчина з нами хоч днів з десять, потім підеш.

56 A nd he saith unto them, `Do not delay me, seeing Jehovah hath prospered my way; send me away, and I go to my lord;'

І сказав він до них: Не спізняйте мене, бо Господь пощастив мою путь. Відішліть мене, і нехай я піду до пана свого.

57 a nd they say, `Let us call for the young person, and ask at her mouth;'

А вони відказали: Покличмо дівчину, і запитаймо її саму.

58 a nd they call for Rebekah, and say unto her, `Dost thou go with this man?' and she saith, `I go.'

І покликали Ревеку, і сказали до неї: Чи ти підеш з оцим чоловіком? А вона відказала: Піду.

59 A nd they send away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham's servant, and his men;

І послали вони Ревеку, сестру свою, і няньку її, і раба Авраамового, і людей його.

60 a nd they bless Rebekah, and say to her, `Thou our sister; become thou thousands of myriads, and thy seed doth possess the gate of those hating it.'

І вони поблагословили Ревеку й сказали до неї: Ти наша сестра, будь матір'ю для тисячі десятків тисяч, і нехай нащадки твої внаслідують брами твоїх ворогів.

61 A nd Rebekah and her young women arise, and ride on the camels, and go after the man; and the servant taketh Rebekah and goeth.

І встала Ревека й служниці її, і посідали на верблюдів, і поїхала за тим чоловіком. І взяв раб Ревеку й відійшов.

62 A nd Isaac hath come in from the entrance of the Well of the Living One, my Beholder; and he is dwelling in the land of the south,

А Ісак був вернувся з подорожі до криниці Лахай-Рої, і сидів у краї південному.

63 a nd Isaac goeth out to meditate in the field, at the turning of the evening, and he lifteth up his eyes, and looketh, and lo, camels are coming.

І вийшов Ісак на прогулянку в поле, як вечір наставав. І він звів свої очі, і побачив, ось верблюди йдуть.

64 A nd Rebekah lifteth up her eyes, and seeth Isaac, and alighteth from off the camel;

І Ревека звела свої очі, та й Ісака побачила, і злізла з верблюда.

65 a nd she saith unto the servant, `Who this man who is walking in the field to meet us?' and the servant saith, `It my lord;' and she taketh the veil, and covereth herself.

І сказала вона до раба: Хто отой чоловік, що полем іде нам назустріч? А раб відповів: То мій пан. І вона покривало взяла, та й накрилась.

66 A nd the servant recounteth to Isaac all the things that he hath done,

І раб розповів Ісакові про всі речі, які він учинив.

67 a nd Isaac bringeth her in unto the tent of Sarah his mother, and he taketh Rebekah, and she becometh his wife, and he loveth her, and Isaac is comforted after his mother.

І впровадив її Ісак до намету Сарри, матері своєї. І взяв він Ревеку, і за жінку йому вона стала, і він її покохав. І Ісак був утішений по смерті матері своєї.
