1 I n the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, come hath Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his force unto Jerusalem, and they lay siege against it;

Дев'ятого року Седекії, царя Юдиного, місяця десятого, прийшов Навуходоносор, цар вавилонський, та все його військо до Єрусалиму та й облягли його.

2 i n the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, in the ninth of the month, hath the city been broken up;

Одинадцятого року Седекії, місяця четвертого, дев'ятого дня місяця, був пробитий пролім до міста...

3 a nd come in do all the heads of the king of Babylon, and they sit at the middle gate, Nergal-Sharezer, Samgar-Nebo, Sarsechim, chief of the eunuchs, Nergal-Sharezer, chief of the Mages, and all the rest of the heads of the king of Babylon.

І поприходили всі зверхники вавилонського царя, і посідали в Середущій брамі: Нерґал-Сар'ецер, Самгар, Нево, Сарсехім, старший евнух, Нерґал-Сар'ецер, старший маг, і вся решта зверхників вавилонського царя.

4 A nd it cometh to pass, when Zedekiah king of Judah, and all the men of war, have seen them, that they flee and go forth by night from the city, the way of the king's garden, through the gate between the two walls, and he goeth forth the way of the plain.

І сталося, як побачив їх Седекія, цар Юдин, та всі вояки, то вони повтікали, і повиходили вночі з міста дорогою царського садка, брамою між обома мурами, і вийшли дорогою в степ.

5 A nd the forces of the Chaldeans pursue after them, and overtake Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho, and they take him, and bring him up unto Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, to Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he speaketh with him -- judgments.

І погналося халдейське військо за ними, і догнали Седекію в єрихонських степах... І взяли вони його, і завели його до Навуходоносора, царя вавилонського, до Рівли, в краю Хамат, і той засудив його.

6 A nd the king of Babylon slaughtereth the sons of Zedekiah, in Riblah, before his eyes, yea, all the freemen of Judah hath the king of Babylon slaughtered.

І цар вавилонський порізав Седекіїних синів в Рівлі на очах його; і всіх шляхетних Юдиних порізав вавилонський цар...

7 A nd the eyes of Zedekiah he hath blinded, and he bindeth him with brazen fetters, to bring him in to Babylon.

А очі Седекії він вибрав, і скував його мідяними кайданами, щоб відвести його до Вавилону...

8 A nd the house of the king, and the house of the people, have the Chaldeans burnt with fire, and the walls of Jerusalem they have broken down.

А дім царя та дому народу халдеї попалили огнем, і порозбивали мури Єрусалиму.

9 A nd the remnant of the people who are left in the city, and those falling who have fallen to him, and the remnant of the people who are left, hath Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, removed Babylon.

А решту народу, позосталих у місті, та перебіжців, що попереходили до нього, і решту народу, що позосталися, вигнав Невузар'адан, начальник царської сторожі, до Вавилону.

10 A nd of the poor people, who have nothing, hath Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, left in the land of Judah, and he giveth to them vineyards and fields on the same day.

А з бідноти народу, що не мали нічого, Невузар'адан, начальник царської сторожі, позоставив декого в Юдиному краї, і дав їм того дня виноградники та поля.

11 A nd Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon giveth a charge concerning Jeremiah, by the hand of Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, saying,

І наказав Навуходоносор, цар вавилонський, про Єремію, через начальника царської сторожі, говорячи:

12 ` Take him, and place thine eyes upon him, and do no evil thing to him, but as he speaketh unto thee, so do with him.'

Візьми його, і зверни на нього свої очі, і не зроби йому нічого злого, і тільки як він скаже тобі, так з ним зроби!

13 A nd Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners sendeth, and Nebushazban, chief of the eunuchs, and Nergal-Sharezer, chief of the Mages, and all the chiefs of the king of Babylon;

І послав Невузар'адан, начальник царської сторожі, і Невушазбан, старший евнух, і Нерґал-Сар'ецер, старший маг, та всі начальники вавилонського царя,

14 y ea, they send and take Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and give him unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, to carry him home, and he dwelleth in the midst of the people.

і послали вони, і взяли Єремію з подвір'я в'язниці, і дали його до Ґедалії, сина Ахікама, сина Шафанового, щоб вивести його до дому. І осівся він серед народу.

15 A nd unto Jeremiah hath a word of Jehovah been -- in his being detained in the court of the prison -- saying:

А до Єремії було Господнє слово, коли він був затриманий в подвір'ї в'язниці, таке:

16 ` Go, and thou hast spoken to Ebed-Melech the Cushite, saying: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am bringing in My words unto this city for evil, and not for good, and they have been before thee in that day.

Іди, і скажеш до мурина Евед-Мелеха, говорячи: Так говорить Господь Саваот, Бог Ізраїлів: Ось Я наводжу Свої слова на це місто на зло, а не на добро, і вони будуть діятися перед тобою цього дня.

17 A nd I have delivered thee in that day -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- and thou art not given into the hand of the men of whose face thou art afraid,

Але тебе врятую цього дня, говорить Господь, і ти не будеш відданий в руку цих людей, яких ти боїшся.

18 f or I do certainly deliver thee, and by sword thou fallest not, and thy life hath been to thee for a spoil, for thou hast trusted in Me -- an affirmation of Jehovah.'

Бо конче врятую тебе, і від меча не впадеш ти, і буде тобі душа твоя за здобич, бо ти надіявся на Мене, говорить Господь.
