1 A nd Jehovah saith unto Abram, `Go for thyself, from thy land, and from thy kindred, and from the house of thy father, unto the land which I shew thee.

І промовив Господь до Аврама: Вийди зо своєї землі, і від родини своєї, і з дому батька свого до Краю, який Я тобі покажу.

2 A nd I make thee become a great nation, and bless thee, and make thy name great; and be thou a blessing.

І народом великим тебе Я вчиню, і поблагословлю Я тебе, і звеличу ймення твоє, і будеш ти благословенням.

3 A nd I bless those blessing thee, and him who is disesteeming thee I curse, and blessed in thee have been all families of the ground.'

І поблагословлю, хто тебе благословить, хто ж тебе проклинає, того прокляну. І благословляться в тобі всі племена землі!

4 A nd Abram goeth on, as Jehovah hath spoken unto him, and Lot goeth with him, and Abram a son of five and seventy years in his going out from Charan.

І відправивсь Аврам, як сказав був до нього Господь, і з ним пішов Лот. Аврам же мав віку сімдесят літ і п'ять літ, як виходив з Харану.

5 A nd Abram taketh Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they have gained, and the persons that they have obtained in Charan; and they go out to go towards the land of Canaan; and they come in to the land of Canaan.

І Аврам узяв Сару, свою жінку, та Лота, сина брата свого, і ввесь маєток, який набули, і людей, що їх набули у Харані, та й вийшли, щоб піти до Краю ханаанського. І до Краю ханаанського вони прибули.

6 A nd Abram passeth over into the land, unto the place Shechem, unto the oak of Moreh; and the Canaanite then in the land.

І пройшов Аврам по Краю аж до місця Сихему, аж до дуба Мамре. А ханаанеянин тоді проживав у цім Краї.

7 A nd Jehovah appeareth unto Abram, and saith, `To thy seed I give this land;' and he buildeth there an altar to Jehovah, who hath appeared unto him.

І Господь явився Авраму й сказав: Я дам оцей Край потомству твоєму. І він збудував там жертівника Господеві, що явився йому.

8 A nd he removeth from thence towards a mountain at the east of Beth-El, and stretcheth out the tent (Beth-El at the west, and Hai at the east), and he buildeth there an altar to Jehovah, and preacheth in the name of Jehovah.

А звідти він рушив на гору від сходу від Бет-Елу, і намета свого розіп'яв, Бет-Ел від заходу, а Гай від сходу. І він збудував там Господу жертівника, і прикликав Господнє Ймення.

9 A nd Abram journeyeth, going on and journeying towards the south.

І подавався Аврам усе далі на південь.

10 A nd there is a famine in the land, and Abram goeth down towards Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine grievous in the land;

І стався був голод у Краї. І зійшов Аврам до Єгипту, щоб там перебути, бо голод у Краї тяжкий став.

11 a nd it cometh to pass as he hath drawn near to enter Egypt, that he saith unto Sarai his wife, `Lo, I pray thee, I have known that thou a woman of beautiful appearance;

І сталося, як він близько прийшов до Єгипту, то сказав був до жінки своєї Сари: Отож то я знаю, що ти жінка вродлива з обличчя.

12 a nd it hath come to pass that the Egyptians see thee, and they have said, `This his wife,' and they have slain me, and thee they keep alive:

І станеться, як побачать тебе єгиптяни й скажуть: Це жінка його, то вони мене вб'ють, а тебе позоставлять живою.

13 s ay, I pray thee, thou my sister, so that it is well with me because of thee, and my soul hath lived for thy sake.'

Скажи ж, що сестра моя ти, щоб добре було через тебе мені, і щоб я позостався живий через тебе.

14 A nd it cometh to pass, at the entering of Abram into Egypt, that the Egyptians see the woman that she exceeding fair;

І сталось, як прийшов був Аврам до Єгипту, то єгиптяни побачили жінку, що дуже вродлива вона.

15 a nd princes of Pharaoh see her, and praise her unto Pharaoh, and the woman is taken Pharaoh's house;

І побачили її вельможі фараонові, і хвалили її перед фараоном. І взята була та жінка до дому фараонового.

16 a nd to Abram he hath done good because of her, and he hath sheep and oxen, and he-asses, and men-servants, and handmaids, and she-asses, and camels.

І він для Аврама добро вчинив через неї. І одержав він дрібну та велику худобу, і осли, і раби, і невільниці, і ослиці, верблюди.

17 A nd Jehovah plagueth Pharaoh and his house -- great plagues -- for the matter of Sarai, Abram's wife.

І вдарив Господь фараона та дім його великими поразами через Сару, Аврамову жінку.

18 A nd Pharaoh calleth for Abram, and saith, `What this thou hast done to me? why hast thou not declared to me that she thy wife?

І прикликав фараон Аврама й сказав: Що ж то мені ти вчинив? Чому не сказав мені, що вона твоя жінка?

19 W hy hast thou said, She my sister, and I take her to myself for a wife? and now, lo, thy wife, take and go.'

Для чого сказав ти: Вона моя сестра? І я собі взяв був за жінку її. А тепер ось жінка твоя, візьми та й іди!

20 A nd Pharaoh chargeth men concerning him, and they send him away, and his wife, an all that he hath.

І фараон наказав людям про нього. І вислали його, і жінку його, і все, що в нього було.
