1 A nd Jehovah hath looked after Sarah as He hath said, and Jehovah doth to Sarah as He hath spoken;

А Господь згадав Сарру, як сказав був, і вчинив Господь Саррі, як Він говорив.

2 a nd Sarah conceiveth, and beareth a son to Abraham, to his old age, at the appointed time that God hath spoken of with him;

І Сарра зачала, і породила сина Авраамові в старості його на означений час, що про нього сказав йому Бог.

3 a nd Abraham calleth the name of his son who is born to him, whom Sarah hath born to him -- Isaac;

І назвав Авраам ім'я синові своєму, що вродився йому, що Сарра йому породила: Ісак.

4 a nd Abraham circumciseth Isaac his son, a son of eight days, as God hath commanded him.

І обрізав Авраам Ісака, сина свого, коли мав він вісім день, як Бог наказав був йому.

5 A nd Abraham a son of a hundred years in Isaac his son being born to him,

А Авраам був віку ста літ, як уродився йому Ісак, син його.

6 a nd Sarah saith, `God hath made laughter for me; every one who is hearing laugheth for me.'

І промовила Сарра: Сміх учинив мені Бог, кожен, хто почує, буде сміятися з мене.

7 S he saith also, `Who hath said to Abraham, Sarah hath suckled sons, that I have born a son for his old age?'

І промовила: Хто б сказав Авраамові: Сарра годує синів? Бо вродила я сина в старості його.

8 A nd the lad groweth, and is weaned, and Abraham maketh a great banquet in the day of Isaac's being weaned;

І дитина росла, і була відлучена. І справив Авраам велику гостину в день відлучення Ісака.

9 a nd Sarah seeth the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she hath borne to Abraham, mocking,

І побачила Сарра сина Аґари єгиптянки, що вродила була Авраамові, що він насміхається.

10 a nd she saith to Abraham, `Cast out this handmaid and her son; for the son of this handmaid hath no possession with my son -- with Isaac.'

І сказала вона Авраамові: Прожени ту невільницю та сина її, бо не буде наслідувати син тієї невільниці разом із сином моїм, із Ісаком.

11 A nd the thing is very wrong in the eyes of Abraham, for his son's sake;

Але ця справа була дуже не до вподоби Авраамові через сина його.

12 a nd God saith unto Abraham, `Let it not be wrong in thine eyes because of the youth, and because of thy handmaid: all that Sarah saith unto thee -- hearken to her voice, for in Isaac is a seed called to thee.

І промовив Господь Авраамові: Нехай не буде не до вподоби тобі це через хлопця та через невільницю твою. Усе, що скаже тобі Сарра, послухай голосу її, бо Ісаком буде покликане тобі потомство.

13 A s to the son of the handmaid also, for a nation I set him, because he thy seed.'

І також сина невільниці тієї учиню його народом, бо він твоє насіння.

14 A nd Abraham riseth early in the morning, and taketh bread, and a bottle of water, and giveth unto Hagar (placing on her shoulder), also the lad, and sendeth her out; and she goeth on, and goeth astray in the wilderness of Beer-Sheba;

І встав рано Авраам, і взяв хліба й бурдюка води, і дав до Аґари на плече її, також дитину, та й послав її. І пішла вона, та й заблудила в пустині Беер-Шева.

15 a nd the water is consumed from the bottle, and she placeth the lad under one of the shrubs.

І скінчилась вода в бурдюці, і покинула вона дитину під одним із кущів.

16 A nd she goeth and sitteth by herself over-against, afar off, about a bow-shot, for she said, `Let me not look on the death of the lad;' and she sitteth over-against, and lifteth up her voice, and weepeth.

І пішла вона, і сіла собі навпроти, на віддалі як стрілити луком, бо сказала: Нехай я не бачу смерти цієї дитини! І сіла навпроти, і піднесла свій голос та й заплакала.

17 A nd God heareth the voice of the youth; and the messenger of God calleth unto Hagar from the heavens, and saith to her, `What to thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath hearkened unto the voice of the youth where he;

І почув Бог голос того хлопця. І кликнув до Аґари Божий Ангол із неба, і сказав їй: Що тобі, Аґаро? Не бійс, бо почув Бог голос хлопц, де він там.

18 r ise, lift up the youth, and lay hold on him with thy hand, for for a great nation I set him.'

Устань, підійми хлопця, і рукою своєю держи його, бо великим народом зроблю Я його.

19 A nd God openeth her eyes, and she seeth a well of water, and she goeth and filleth the bottle water, and causeth the youth to drink;

І відкрив Бог очі її, і вона побачила криницю води. І пішла вона, і наповнила бурдюка водою, та й напоїла хлопця.

20 a nd God is with the youth, and he groweth, and dwelleth in the wilderness, and is an archer;

І з хлопцем був Бог, і він виріс. І осів у пустині, і став він стрілець-лучник.

21 a nd he dwelleth in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother taketh for him a wife from the land of Egypt.

І осів він у пустині Паран, а мати його взяла йому жінку з єгипетського краю.

22 A nd it cometh to pass at that time that Abimelech speaketh -- Phichol also, head of his host -- unto Abraham, saying, `God with thee in all that thou art doing;

І сталося часу того, і сказав Авімелех і Піхол, головний провідник його війська, до Авраама, говорячи: Бог із тобою в усьому, що ти робиш!

23 a nd now, swear to me by God here: thou dost not lie to me, or to my continuator, or to my successor; according to the kindness which I have done with thee thou dost with me, and with the land in which thou hast sojourned.'

А тепер присягни ж мені Богом отут, що ти не обманиш мене, і нащадка мого, і онука мого. І яка була ласка, яку я до тебе чинив, ти вчиниш зо мною та з краєм, що ти в нім чужинцем пробуваєш.

24 A nd Abraham saith, `I -- I do swear.'

І сказав Авраам: Я присягаю!

25 A nd Abraham reasoned with Abimelech concerning the matter of a well of water which Abimelech's servants have taken violently away,

І Авраам дорікав Авімелехові за криницю води, що її відняли були Авімелехові раби.

26 a nd Abimelech saith, `I have not known who hath done this thing, and even thou didst not declare to me, and I also, I have not heard save to-day.'

І сказав Авімелех: Я не знаю, хто вчинив оту річ, ані ти не розповів мені, й ані я не чув, хібащо сьогодні.

27 A nd Abraham taketh sheep and oxen, and giveth to Abimelech, and they make, both of them, a covenant;

І взяв Авраам дрібну та велику худобу, та й дав Авімелехові, і обидва вони склали умову.

28 a nd Abraham setteth seven Lambs of the flock by themselves.

І поставив Авраам сім овечок з дрібного товару осібно.

29 A nd Abimelech saith unto Abraham, `What they -- these seven lambs which thou hast set by themselves?'

І сказав Авімелех до Авраама: Що вони, сім овечок отих, що ти їх поставив осібно?

30 A nd he saith, `For -- the seven lambs thou dost accept from my hand, so that it becometh a witness for me that I have digged this well;'

А той відказав: Бо з моєї руки сім овечок ти візьмеш, щоб для мене були на свідоцтво, що я викопав цю криницю.

31 t herefore hath he called that place `Beer-Sheba,' for there have both of them sworn.

Тому то назвав він це місце Беер-Шева, бо там поклялися вони.

32 A nd they make a covenant in Beer-Sheba, and Abimelech riseth -- Phichol also, head of his host -- and they turn back unto the land of the Philistines;

І склали умову вони в Беер-Шеві. І встав Авімелех та Піхол, головний провідник його війська, і вернулись вони до краю филистимського.

33 a nd planteth a tamarask in Beer-Sheba, and preacheth there in the name of Jehovah, God age-during;

А Авраам посадив тамариска в Беер-Шеві, і кликав там Ім'я Господа, Бога Вічного.

34 a nd Abraham sojourneth in the land of the Philistines many days.

І Авраам пробував у филистимській землі багато днів.
