1 A nd they journey from Elim, and all the company of the sons of Israel come in unto the wilderness of Sin, which between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month of their going out from the land of Egypt.

І рушили вони з Єліму, і вся громада Ізраїлевих синів прибула до пустині Сін, що між Єлімом та між Сінаєм, п'ятнадцятого дня другого місяця по виході їх з єгипетського краю.

2 A nd all the company of the sons of Israel murmur against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;

І стала ремствувати вся громада Ізраїлевих синів на Мойсея та на Аарона в пустині.

3 a nd the sons of Israel say unto them, `Oh that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, in our sitting by the flesh-pot, in our eating bread to satiety -- for ye have brought us out unto this wilderness to put all this assembly to death with hunger.'

І говорили їм Ізраїлеві сини: Коли б ми були повмирали від Господньої руки в єгипетськім краї, як ми сиділи над горшком м'яса, як ми їли хліба досить! Бо ви вивели нас до цієї пустині, щоб поморити голодом увесь цей збір...

4 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Lo, I am raining to you bread from the heavens -- and the people have gone out and gathered the matter of a day in its day -- so that I try them whether they walk in My law, or not;

І промовив Господь до Мойсея: Ось Я спускатиму вам дощем хліб із неба, а народ виходитиме й щоденно збиратиме, скільки треба на день, щоб випробувати його, чи буде він ходити в Моєму Законі, чи ні.

5 a nd it hath been on the sixth day, that they have prepared that which they bring in, and it hath been double above that which they gather day day.'

А настане шостий день, то приготують, що принесуть, і буде подвійне супроти того, що збирають день-у-день.

6 A nd Moses saith -- Aaron also -- unto all the sons of Israel, `Evening -- and ye have known that Jehovah hath brought you out from the land of Egypt;

І сказали Мойсей та Аарон до всіх Ізраїлевих синів: Настане вечір і ви довідаєтеся, що Господь вивів вас із єгипетського краю.

7 a nd morning -- and ye have seen the honour of Jehovah, in His hearing your murmurings against Jehovah, and what we, that ye murmur against us?'

А настане ранок, то побачите славу Господню, бо Він почув ваші ремствування на Господа. А ми що, що ви ремствуєте на нас?

8 A nd Moses saith, `In Jehovah's giving to you in the evening flesh to eat, and bread in the morning to satiety -- in Jehovah's hearing your murmurings, which ye are murmuring against Him, and what we? your murmurings not against us, but against Jehovah.'

І сказав Мойсей: Довідаєтесь, як увечорі Господь дасть вам м'яса на їжу, а рано хліба на насичення, бо почув Господь ремствування ваші, що ви ремствуєте на Нього. А ми що? Не на нас ремствування ваше, а на Господа!

9 A nd Moses saith unto Aaron, `Say unto all the company of the sons of Israel, Come ye near before Jehovah, for He hath heard your murmurings;'

І сказав Мойсей до Аарона: Скажи всій громаді Ізраїлевих синів: Наблизьтеся перед лице Господа, бо Він почув ваші ремствування!

10 a nd it cometh to pass, when Aaron is speaking unto all the company of the sons of Israel, that they turn towards the wilderness, and lo, the honour of Jehovah is seen in the cloud.

І сталося, коли говорив Аарон до всієї громади Ізраїлевих синів, то обернулися вони до пустині, аж ось слава Господня показалася в хмарі!

11 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

І промовив Господь до Мойсея, говорячи:

12 ` I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel; speak unto them, saying, Between the evenings ye eat flesh, and in the morning ye are satisfied bread, and ye have known that I Jehovah your God.'

Я почув ремствування Ізраїлевих синів. Промовляй до них, кажучи: Під вечір будете їсти м'ясо, а рано насититесь хлібом, і познаєте, що Я Господь, Бог ваш!

13 A nd it cometh to pass in the evening, that the quail cometh up, and covereth the camp, and in the morning there hath been the lying of dew round about the camp,

І сталося ввечорі, і знялися перепелиці, і покрили табір. А рано була верства роси навколо табору.

14 a nd the lying of the dew goeth up, and lo, on the face of the wilderness a thin, bare thing, thin as hoar-frost on the earth.

І піднялася верства тієї роси, аж ось на поверхні пустині щось дрібне, вузькувате, дрібне, немов паморозь на землі.

15 A nd the sons of Israel see, and say one unto another, `What it?' for they have not known what it; and Moses saith unto them, `It the bread which Jehovah hath given to you for food.

І побачили Ізраїлеві сини, та й казали один до одного: Ман гу?, бо не знали, що то. А Мойсей відказав їм: Це той хліб, що дав вам Господь на їжу.

16 ` This the thing which Jehovah hath commanded: Gather of it each according to his eating, an omer for a poll; and the number of your persons, take ye each for those in his tent.'

Це те, що про нього Господь наказав: Збирайте з нього кожен у міру їди своєї, гомер на голову, за числом ваших душ: візьміть кожен для того, хто в наметі його.

17 A nd the sons of Israel do so, and they gather, he who is much, and he who is little;

І зробили так Ізраїлеві сини, і назбирали хто більше, а хто менше.

18 a nd they measure with an omer, and he who is much hath nothing over, and he who is little hath no lack, each according to his eating they have gathered.

І зміряли вони гомером, і не мав зайвого той, хто зібрав більше, а хто зібрав менше, не мав нестачі, зібрали кожен у міру своєї їди!

19 A nd Moses saith unto them, `Let no man leave of it till morning;'

І сказав до них Мойсей: Нехай ніхто не лишає з нього до ранку!

20 a nd they have not hearkened unto Moses, and some of them do leave of it till morning, and it bringeth up worms and stinketh; and Moses is wroth with them.

Та не послухали вони Мойсея, і дехто позоставляли з нього до ранку, а воно зачервивіло, і стало смердюче. І розгнівався на них Мойсей!

21 A nd they gather it morning by morning, each according to his eating; when the sun hath been warm, then it hath melted.

І збирали його щоранку, кожен у міру своєї їди. А розгрівалося сонце і воно розтавало.

22 A nd it cometh to pass on the sixth day, they have gathered a second bread, two omers for one, and all the princes of the company come in, and declare to Moses.

І сталося шостого дня, поназбирували вони хліба подвійно, два гомери на одного. І посходилися всі начальники громади, і розповіли Мойсеєві.

23 A nd he saith unto them, `It that which Jehovah hath spoken; a rest -- a holy sabbath to Jehovah -- to-morrow; that which ye bake, bake; and that which ye boil, boil; and all that is over, let rest for yourselves in charge till the morning.'

А він сказав до них: Це те, що говорив Господь: Повний спокій, субота свята для Господа взавтра. Що будете пекти печіть, а що будете варити варіть, а все позостале покладіть собі на сховок до ранку.

24 A nd they let it rest until the morning, as Moses hath commanded, and it hath not stank, and a worm hath not been in it.

І поклали його аж до ранку, як Мойсей наказав, і не засмерділось воно, і черви не було в нім.

25 A nd Moses saith, `Eat it to-day, for to-day a sabbath to Jehovah; to-day ye find it not in the field:

І сказав Мойсей: Їжте його сьогодні, бо сьогодні субота для Господа. Сьогодні не знайдете його на полі.

26 s ix days ye do gather it, and in the seventh day -- the sabbath -- in it there is none.'

Шість день будете збирати його, а дня сьомого субота: не буде в ній того.

27 A nd it cometh to pass on the seventh day, some of the people have gone out to gather, and have not found.

І сталося сьомого дня, повиходили були з народу збирати, та не знайшли.

28 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `How long have ye refused to keep My commands, and My laws?

І сказав Господь до Мойсея: Аж доки ви будете відмовлятися виконувати заповіді Мої та закони Мої?

29 s ee, because Jehovah hath given to you the sabbath, therefore He is giving to you on the sixth day bread of two days; abide ye each his place, no one doth go out from his place on the seventh day.'

Побачте, Господь дав вам суботу, тому Він дає вам шостого дня хліба двох днів. Сидіть кожен у себе, нехай сьомого дня не виходить ніхто з свого місця!

30 A nd the people rest on the seventh day,

І сьомого дня народ відпочивав.

31 a nd the house of Israel call its name Manna, and it as coriander seed, white; and its taste as a cake with honey.

І назвав Ізраїлів дім ім'я тому: манна. Вона була, як коріяндрове насіння, біла, а смак її, як тісто в меду.

32 A nd Moses saith, `This the thing which Jehovah hath commanded: Fill the omer with it, for a charge for your generations, so that they see the bread which I have caused you to eat in the wilderness, in My bringing you out from the land of Egypt.'

І сказав Мойсей: Оце те, що наказав Господь: Наповни нею гомер на сховок для ваших поколінь, щоб бачили той хліб, яким Я годував вас на пустині, коли Я виводив вас із єгипетського краю.

33 A nd Moses saith unto Aaron, `Take one pot, and put there the fulness of the omer of manna, and let it rest before Jehovah, for a charge for your generations;'

І сказав Мойсей до Аарона: Візьми одну посудину, і поклади туди повний гомер манни, і постав її перед Господнім лицем на сховок для ваших поколінь.

34 a s Jehovah hath given commandment unto Moses, so doth Aaron let it rest before the Testimony, for a charge.

І як наказав Бог Мойсею, так поставив її Аарон перед ковчегом свідоцтва на сховок.

35 A nd the sons of Israel have eaten the manna forty years, until their coming in unto the land to be inhabited; the manna they have eaten till their coming in unto the extremity of the land of Canaan.

А Ізраїлеві сини їли ту манну сорок літ, аж до прибуття їх до краю заселеного, їли манну аж до приходу їх до границі ханаанського Краю.

36 a nd the omer is a tenth of the ephah.

А гомер він десята частина ефи.
