1 A nd they journey from Elim, and all the company of the sons of Israel come in unto the wilderness of Sin, which between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month of their going out from the land of Egypt.

Întreaga adunare a israeliţilor a plecat de la Elim şi a ajuns în pustia Sin, care este între Elim şi Sinai, în ziua a cincisprezecea a lunii a doua, după ce a ieşit din ţara Egiptului.

2 A nd all the company of the sons of Israel murmur against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;

În pustie, întreaga adunare a israeliţilor a cârtit împotriva lui Moise şi a lui Aaron.

3 a nd the sons of Israel say unto them, `Oh that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, in our sitting by the flesh-pot, in our eating bread to satiety -- for ye have brought us out unto this wilderness to put all this assembly to death with hunger.'

Israeliţii le-au zis: „O, de-am fi fost omorâţi de mâna Domnului în ţara Egiptului! Cel puţin acolo stăteam lângă oalele de carne şi mâncam pâine din belşug. Ne-aţi adus aici, în pustia aceasta, ca să faceţi să moară de foame toată mulţimea aceasta!“

4 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Lo, I am raining to you bread from the heavens -- and the people have gone out and gathered the matter of a day in its day -- so that I try them whether they walk in My law, or not;

Atunci Domnul i-a zis lui Moise: „Voi face să plouă pâine din cer; în fiecare zi poporul să iasă şi să adune pâine pentru ziua aceea. În acea zi, îi voi pune la încercare ca să văd dacă vor trăi după Legea Mea sau nu.

5 a nd it hath been on the sixth day, that they have prepared that which they bring in, and it hath been double above that which they gather day day.'

În ziua a şasea să pregătească ce au adunat, într-o cantitate dublă faţă de ce au adunat în fiecare zi.“

6 A nd Moses saith -- Aaron also -- unto all the sons of Israel, `Evening -- and ye have known that Jehovah hath brought you out from the land of Egypt;

Moise şi Aaron le-au zis tuturor israeliţilor: „În seara aceasta veţi şti că Domnul v-a scos din ţara Egiptului,

7 a nd morning -- and ye have seen the honour of Jehovah, in His hearing your murmurings against Jehovah, and what we, that ye murmur against us?'

iar dimineaţă veţi vedea slava Domnului, pentru că El aude cârtirile voastre împotriva Lui. Căci cine suntem noi, ca să vă plângeţi împotriva noastră?“

8 A nd Moses saith, `In Jehovah's giving to you in the evening flesh to eat, and bread in the morning to satiety -- in Jehovah's hearing your murmurings, which ye are murmuring against Him, and what we? your murmurings not against us, but against Jehovah.'

Moise a mai zis: „Veţi şti că a fost Domnul, atunci când, seara, vă va da carne, iar dimineaţa – pâine din belşug, pentru că Domnul v-a auzit cârtirile pe care le-aţi rostit împotriva Lui, căci noi nu suntem nimic; cârtirile voastre nu sunt împotriva noastră, ci împotriva Domnului. “

9 A nd Moses saith unto Aaron, `Say unto all the company of the sons of Israel, Come ye near before Jehovah, for He hath heard your murmurings;'

După aceea, Moise i-a zis lui Aaron: „Spune întregii adunări a israeliţilor: «Apropiaţi-vă de Domnul, căci El a auzit cârtirile voastre.»“

10 a nd it cometh to pass, when Aaron is speaking unto all the company of the sons of Israel, that they turn towards the wilderness, and lo, the honour of Jehovah is seen in the cloud.

În timp ce Aaron vorbea întregii adunări, ei s-au uitat înspre pustie şi slava Domnului s-a arătat în nor.

11 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

Domnul i-a vorbit lui Moise astfel:

12 ` I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel; speak unto them, saying, Between the evenings ye eat flesh, and in the morning ye are satisfied bread, and ye have known that I Jehovah your God.'

„Am auzit cârtirile israeliţilor; de aceea spune-le: «Între cele două seri veţi avea carne, iar dimineaţa – pâine din belşug; atunci veţi şti că Eu sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru.»“

13 A nd it cometh to pass in the evening, that the quail cometh up, and covereth the camp, and in the morning there hath been the lying of dew round about the camp,

Seara au venit nişte prepeliţe care au acoperit tabăra; dimineaţa, în jurul taberei, se afla un strat de rouă.

14 a nd the lying of the dew goeth up, and lo, on the face of the wilderness a thin, bare thing, thin as hoar-frost on the earth.

Când stratul de rouă s-a ridicat, pe suprafaţa pustiei au rămas nişte boabe mici, ca boabele de gheaţă pe pământ.

15 A nd the sons of Israel see, and say one unto another, `What it?' for they have not known what it; and Moses saith unto them, `It the bread which Jehovah hath given to you for food.

Când le-au văzut, neştiind ce sunt, israeliţii şi-au zis unii altora: „Oare ce sunt acestea?“ Moise le-a zis: „Este pâinea pe care Domnul v-a dat-o s-o mâncaţi.

16 ` This the thing which Jehovah hath commanded: Gather of it each according to his eating, an omer for a poll; and the number of your persons, take ye each for those in his tent.'

Domnul a poruncit ca fiecare om să adune cât îi trebuie pentru hrană şi anume un omer de fiecare persoană, după numărul celor din cortul lui. Să adunaţi pentru fiecare persoană din cortul vostru.“

17 A nd the sons of Israel do so, and they gather, he who is much, and he who is little;

Israeliţii au făcut astfel: unii au adunat mai mult, alţii mai puţin.

18 a nd they measure with an omer, and he who is much hath nothing over, and he who is little hath no lack, each according to his eating they have gathered.

După ce au măsurat-o cu omerul, au văzut că celui ce a adunat mai mult nu i-a rămas în plus, iar cel ce a adunat mai puţin nu a dus lipsă; fiecare om a adunat după nevoile lui.

19 A nd Moses saith unto them, `Let no man leave of it till morning;'

Deşi Moise le-a zis să nu lase nimic din ea până dimineaţa,

20 a nd they have not hearkened unto Moses, and some of them do leave of it till morning, and it bringeth up worms and stinketh; and Moses is wroth with them.

ei nu l-au ascultat; unii au lăsat o parte din ea până dimineaţa, astfel că aceasta a făcut viermi şi s-a împuţit, iar Moise s-a mâniat pe ei.

21 A nd they gather it morning by morning, each according to his eating; when the sun hath been warm, then it hath melted.

În fiecare dimineaţă israeliţii adunau după cum aveau nevoie. Când soarele era fierbinte, pâinea se topea.

22 A nd it cometh to pass on the sixth day, they have gathered a second bread, two omers for one, and all the princes of the company come in, and declare to Moses.

În ziua a şasea ei au adunat de două ori mai mult, doi omeri pentru fiecare persoană. Când toţi conducătorii adunării au venit şi i-au spus acest lucru lui Moise,

23 A nd he saith unto them, `It that which Jehovah hath spoken; a rest -- a holy sabbath to Jehovah -- to-morrow; that which ye bake, bake; and that which ye boil, boil; and all that is over, let rest for yourselves in charge till the morning.'

el le-a răspuns: „ Domnul a poruncit astfel: «Mâine este o zi de odihnă, un Sabat sfânt pentru Domnul; coaceţi ce aveţi de copt, fierbeţi ce aveţi de fiert şi tot ce vă rămâne păstraţi până dimineaţa.»“

24 A nd they let it rest until the morning, as Moses hath commanded, and it hath not stank, and a worm hath not been in it.

Ei au păstrat-o aşa cum a poruncit Moise; ea nu s-a împuţit şi n-a făcut viermi.

25 A nd Moses saith, `Eat it to-day, for to-day a sabbath to Jehovah; to-day ye find it not in the field:

Moise le-a zis: „Mâncaţi-o azi, pentru că azi este Sabatul Domnului; azi nu veţi găsi pâine pe câmp.

26 s ix days ye do gather it, and in the seventh day -- the sabbath -- in it there is none.'

S-o adunaţi timp de şase zile, căci în a şaptea zi, Sabatul, ea nu va fi.“

27 A nd it cometh to pass on the seventh day, some of the people have gone out to gather, and have not found.

În ziua a şaptea însă unii oameni din popor au ieşit să adune pâine, dar n-au găsit nimic.

28 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `How long have ye refused to keep My commands, and My laws?

Domnul i-a zis lui Moise: „Până când veţi refuza să păziţi poruncile şi legile Mele?

29 s ee, because Jehovah hath given to you the sabbath, therefore He is giving to you on the sixth day bread of two days; abide ye each his place, no one doth go out from his place on the seventh day.'

Ştiţi că Domnul v-a dat Sabatul şi de aceea în a şasea zi vă dă hrană pentru două zile. Orice om să rămână acolo unde este. Nici unul să nu iasă din locul său în ziua a şaptea.“

30 A nd the people rest on the seventh day,

Şi astfel, în ziua a şaptea poporul s-a odihnit.

31 a nd the house of Israel call its name Manna, and it as coriander seed, white; and its taste as a cake with honey.

Casa lui Israel a numit pâinea venită din cer „mană“; ea era albă, ca bobul de coriandru, iar la gust era ca o turtă cu miere.

32 A nd Moses saith, `This the thing which Jehovah hath commanded: Fill the omer with it, for a charge for your generations, so that they see the bread which I have caused you to eat in the wilderness, in My bringing you out from the land of Egypt.'

Moise le-a zis: „Iată ce a poruncit Domnul: «Puneţi deoparte un omer de mană, ca să fie păstrat pentru toate generaţiile, pentru ca ei să vadă pâinea cu care v-am hrănit în pustie, când v-am scos din ţara Egiptului.»“

33 A nd Moses saith unto Aaron, `Take one pot, and put there the fulness of the omer of manna, and let it rest before Jehovah, for a charge for your generations;'

Moise i-a zis lui Aaron: „Ia un vas, pune în el un omer plin cu mană şi aşază-l înaintea Domnului ca să fie păstrat pentru urmaşii voştri.“

34 a s Jehovah hath given commandment unto Moses, so doth Aaron let it rest before the Testimony, for a charge.

Aaron l-a pus înaintea Mărturiei ca să fie păstrat acolo, după cum îi poruncise Domnul lui Moise.

35 A nd the sons of Israel have eaten the manna forty years, until their coming in unto the land to be inhabited; the manna they have eaten till their coming in unto the extremity of the land of Canaan.

Israeliţii au mâncat mană timp de patruzeci de ani, până au ajuns într-o ţară locuită; au mâncat mană până au ajuns la hotarul Canaanului.

36 a nd the omer is a tenth of the ephah.

(Un omer este a zecea parte dintr-o efă.)
