1 T hen singeth Moses and the sons of Israel this song to Jehovah, and they speak, saying: -- `I sing to Jehovah, For triumphing He hath triumphed; The horse and its rider He hath thrown into the sea.

Atunci Moise şi israeliţii au cântat această cântare Domnului: „Voi cânta Domnului, căci Şi-a arătat slava; i-a năpustit în mare pe cal şi pe călăreţ.

2 M y strength and song is Jah, And He is become my salvation: This my God, and I glorify Him; God of my father, and I exalt Him.

Domnul este tăria mea şi cântarea mea, El a devenit mântuirea mea; Acesta este Dumnezeul meu şi Îl voi lăuda, este Dumnezeul tatălui meu şi Îl voi înălţa.

3 J ehovah a man of battle; Jehovah His name.

Domnul este un războinic; Numele Lui este Domnul.

4 C hariots of Pharaoh and his force He hath cast into the sea; And the choice of his captains Have sunk in the Red Sea!

El a aruncat în mare carele lui Faraon şi oştirea lui; căpeteniile lui alese s-au înecat în Marea Roşie.

5 T he depths do cover them; They went down into the depths as a stone.

Ape adânci i-au acoperit; s-au prăbuşit în adânc ca o piatră.

6 T hy right hand, O Jehovah, Is become honourable in power; Thy right hand, O Jehovah, Doth crush an enemy.

Dreapta Ta, Doamne, este măreaţă în putere, dreapta Ta, Doamne, i-a zdrobit pe duşmani.

7 A nd in the abundance of Thine excellency Thou throwest down Thy withstanders, Thou sendest forth Thy wrath -- It consumeth them as stubble.

Cu măreţia majestăţii Tale Ţi-ai doborât vrăjmaşii, Ţi-ai dezlănţuit mânia care i-a mistuit ca pe o mirişte.

8 A nd by the spirit of Thine anger Have waters been heaped together; Stood as a heap have flowings; Congealed have been depths In the heart of a sea.

La suflarea nărilor Tale apele s-au adunat, puhoaiele de ape s-au ridicat ca un zid, adâncurile s-au închegat în inima mării.

9 T he enemy said, I pursue, I overtake; I apportion spoil; Filled is my soul with them; I draw out my sword; My hand destroyeth them: --

Vrăjmaşul îşi zicea: «Îi voi urmări, îi voi ajunge din urmă. Voi împărţi prada; îmi voi împlini dorinţa cu privire la ei. Îmi voi scoate sabia şi mâna mea va pune stăpânire pe ei.»

10 T hou hast blown with Thy wind The sea hath covered them; They sank as lead in mighty waters.

Însă când Tu ai suflat cu suflarea Ta, marea i-a acoperit; s-au afundat ca plumbul în apele măreţe.

11 W ho like Thee among the gods, O Jehovah? Who like Thee -- honourable in holiness -- Fearful in praises -- doing wonders?

Care dintre zei este ca Tine, Doamne ? Cine este ca Tine, glorios în sfinţenie, temut în splendoare şi înfăptuitor de minuni?

12 T hou hast stretched out Thy right hand -- Earth swalloweth them!

Ţi-ai întins mâna dreaptă şi pământul i-a înghiţit.

13 T hou hast led forth in Thy kindness The people whom Thou hast redeemed. Thou hast led on in Thy strength Unto Thy holy habitation.

Prin îndurarea Ta Ţi-ai condus poporul pe care l-ai răscumpărat; prin puterea Ta l-ai călăuzit spre Locuinţa Ta cea sfântă.

14 P eoples have heard, they are troubled; Pain hath seized inhabitants of Philistia.

Popoarele vor începe să tremure când vor auzi; îi va cuprinde groaza pe locuitorii Filistiei.

15 T hen have chiefs of Edom been troubled: Mighty ones of Moab -- Trembling doth seize them! Melted have all inhabitants of Canaan!

Căpeteniile Edomului se vor teme; un tremur îi va cuprinde pe conducătorii Moabului. Toţi locuitorii Canaanului se vor topi de spaimă;

16 F all on them doth terror and dread; By the greatness of Thine arm They are still as a stone, Till Thy people pass over, O Jehovah; Till the people pass over Whom Thou hast purchased.

teroarea şi groaza vor cădea peste ei; din pricina măreţiei braţului Tău, vor amuţi ca o piatră, până va trece poporul Tău, Doamne, până va trece poporul pe care l-ai câştigat.

17 T hou dost bring them in, And dost plant them In a mountain of Thine inheritance, A fixed place for Thy dwelling Thou hast made, O Jehovah; A sanctuary, O Lord, Thy hands have established;

Tu îl vei aduce şi-l vei sădi pe muntele moştenirii Tale, în locul pe care Tu, Doamne, Ţi l-ai pregătit ca locuinţă, lăcaşul pe care mâinile Tale, Stăpâne, l-au întemeiat.

18 J ehovah reigneth -- to the age, and for ever!'

Domnul va domni în veci de veci!“

19 F or the horse of Pharaoh hath gone in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and Jehovah turneth back on them the waters of the sea, and the sons of Israel have gone on dry land in the midst of the sea.

Când caii, carele şi călăreţii lui Faraon au intrat în mare, Domnul a adus înapoi apele mării peste ei; israeliţii însă au mers prin mare ca pe pământ uscat.

20 A nd Miriam the inspired one, sister of Aaron, taketh the timbrel in her hand, and all the women go out after her, with timbrels and with choruses;

Apoi Miriam, profetesa, sora lui Aaron, a luat o tamburină în mână şi toate femeile au ieşit după ea având tamburine în mâini şi dansând.

21 a nd Miriam answereth to them: -- `Sing ye to Jehovah, For Triumphing He hath triumphed; The horse and its rider He hath thrown into the sea!'

Miriam le cânta: „Cântaţi Domnului, căci Şi-a arătat slava; i-a năpustit în mare pe cal şi pe călăreţ.“ Apele de la Mara şi Elim

22 A nd Moses causeth Israel to journey from the Red Sea, and they go out unto the wilderness of Shur, and they go three days in the wilderness, and have not found water,

După aceea, Moise l-a luat pe Israel de lângă Marea Roşie şi au intrat împreună în pustia Şur. Au mers trei zile prin pustie, fără să găsească apă.

23 a nd they come in to Marah, and have not been able to drink the waters of Marah, for they bitter; therefore hath called its name Marah.

Au ajuns într-un loc unde, deşi era apă, n-au putut să o bea pentru că era amară, motiv pentru care au numit locul acela Mara.

24 A nd the people murmur against Moses, saying, `What do we drink?'

Poporul a cârtit împotriva lui Moise, zicând: „Ce vom bea?“

25 a nd he crieth unto Jehovah, and Jehovah sheweth him a tree, and he casteth unto the waters, and the waters become sweet. There He hath made for them a statute, and an ordinance, and there He hath tried them,

El a strigat către Domnul şi Domnul i-a arătat o bucată de lemn; Moise a aruncat lemnul în apă şi apa s-a făcut dulce. Acolo le-a dat Domnul legi şi porunci şi i-a pus la încercare.

26 a nd He saith, `If thou dost really hearken to the voice of Jehovah thy God, and dost that which is right in His eyes, and hast hearkened to His commands, and kept all His statutes: none of the sickness which I laid on the Egyptians do I lay on thee, for I, Jehovah, am healing thee.

El le-a zis: „Dacă veţi asculta cu atenţie glasul Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru, dacă veţi face ce este drept înaintea Lui, dacă veţi lua aminte la poruncile Lui şi veţi păzi toate legile Lui, nu voi aduce peste voi nici una din bolile pe care le-am adus peste egipteni. Căci Eu sunt Domnul Care vă vindecă.“

27 A nd they come to Elim, and there twelve fountains of water, and seventy palm trees; and they encamp there by the waters.

În cele din urmă au ajuns la Elim, unde se găseau douăsprezece izvoare şi şaptezeci de palmieri; ei şi-au aşezat tabăra lângă apă.
