1 I n those days hath Hezekiah been sick unto death, and come unto him doth Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet, and saith unto him, `Thus said Jehovah: Give a charge to thy house, for thou art dying, and dost not live.'

În acele zile Ezechia s-a îmbolnăvit şi era aproape de moarte. Profetul Isaia, fiul lui Amoţ, a venit la el şi i-a zis: „Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Pune-ţi casa în rânduială căci vei muri! Nu te vei mai face bine!»“

2 A nd he turneth round his face unto the wall, and prayeth unto Jehovah, saying,

Atunci Ezechia s-a întors cu faţa spre perete şi s-a rugat Domnului astfel:

3 ` I pray Thee, O Jehovah, remember, I pray Thee, how I have walked habitually before Thee in truth, and with a perfect heart, and that which good in Thine eyes I have done;' and Hezekiah weepeth -- a great weeping.

„ Doamne, Te rog, adu-Ţi aminte că am umblat înaintea Ta cu credincioşie şi din toată inima şi am făcut ce este bine înaintea Ta.“ Şi Ezechia a plâns cu amar.

4 A nd it cometh to pass -- Isaiah hath not gone out to the middle court -- that the word of Jehovah hath been unto him, saying,

Isaia încă nu părăsise curtea din mijloc şi Cuvântul Domnului a venit la el, spunându-i:

5 ` Turn back, and thou hast said unto Hezekiah, leader of My people: Thus said Jehovah, God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tear, lo, I give healing to thee, on the third day thou dost go up to the house of Jehovah;

„Întoarce-te şi spune-i lui Ezechia, conducătorul poporului Meu, că aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul strămoşului său David: «Ţi-am auzit rugăciunea şi ţi-am văzut lacrimile. Iată că te voi vindeca. În a treia zi te vei duce la Casa Domnului.

6 a nd I have added to thy days fifteen years, and out of the hand of the king of Asshur I deliver thee and this city, and have covered over this city for Mine own sake, and for the sake of David My servant.'

Voi adăuga vieţii tale încă cincisprezece ani şi te voi izbăvi pe tine şi cetatea aceasta din mâna împăratului Asiriei. Voi apăra această cetate de dragul Meu şi de dragul robului Meu David.»“

7 A nd Isaiah saith, `Take ye a cake of figs;' and they take and lay on the boil, and he reviveth.

Apoi Isaia a zis: „Aduceţi o turtă de smochine!“ Ei au adus-o şi după ce au pus-o pe bubă, Ezechia s-a vindecat.

8 A nd Hezekiah saith unto Isaiah, `What the sign that Jehovah doth give healing to me, that I have gone up on the third day to the house of Jehovah?'

Ezechia îl întrebase pe Isaia: – Care va fi semnul prin care voi şti că Domnul mă va vindeca şi că mă voi duce la Casa Domnului a treia zi?

9 A nd Isaiah saith, `This to thee the sign from Jehovah, that Jehovah doth the thing that He hath spoken -- The shadow hath gone on ten degrees, or it doth turn back ten degrees?'

Isaia îi răspunsese: – Acesta este semnul din partea Domnului pentru tine, prin care vei cunoaşte că Domnul va împlini cuvântul pe care l-a rostit: „Să treacă umbra zece trepte înainte sau înapoi?“

10 A nd Hezekiah saith, `It hath been light for the shadow to incline ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow turn backward ten degrees.'

– E ceva neînsemnat ca umbra să treacă zece trepte înainte, a răspuns Ezechia. Mai bine să treacă zece trepte înapoi.

11 A nd Isaiah the prophet calleth unto Jehovah, and He bringeth back the shadow by the degrees that it had gone down in the degrees of Ahaz -- backward ten degrees.

Profetul Isaia L-a chemat pe Domnul şi El a făcut ca umbra să treacă înapoi zece trepte pe cadranul lui Ahaz. Solia babiloniană la Ierusalim

12 A t that time hath Berodach-Baladan son of Baladan king of Babylon sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah, for he heard that Hezekiah had been sick;

În acea perioadă, Merodak-Baladan, fiul lui Baladan, rege al Babilonului, i-a trimis lui Ezechia scrisori şi un dar, fiindcă auzise că Ezechia fusese bolnav.

13 a nd Hezekiah hearkeneth unto them, and sheweth them all the house of his treasury, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the good ointment, and all the house of his vessels, and all that hath been found in his treasuries; there hath not been a thing that Hezekiah hath not shewed them, in his house, and in all his dominion.

Ezechia i-a primit pe soli şi le-a arătat tot ce era în vistieria sa: argintul, aurul, mirodeniile şi uleiul de preţ, armamentul lui şi tot ce se afla în magaziile lui. Nu a rămas nimic în palatul sau în regatul său, pe care Ezechia să nu li-l fi arătat.

14 A nd Isaiah the prophet cometh in unto king Hezekiah, and saith unto him, `What said these men? and whence come they unto thee?' And Hezekiah saith, `From a land afar off they have come -- from Babylon.'

Atunci profetul Isaia a venit la regele Ezechia şi l-a întrebat: – Ce au zis oamenii aceia şi de unde au venit? Ezechia i-a răspuns: – Au venit dintr-o ţară îndepărtată, din Babilon.

15 A nd he saith, `What saw they in thy house?' and Hezekiah saith, `All that in my house they saw; there hath not been a thing that I have not shewed them among my treasures.'

– Ce au văzut în palatul tău? l-a mai întrebat profetul. – Au văzut tot ceea ce este în palatul meu, a răspuns Ezechia, şi nu a rămas nimic în magaziile mele pe care să nu li-l fi arătat.

16 A nd Isaiah saith unto Hezekiah, `Hear a word of Jehovah:

Atunci Isaia i-a zis lui Ezechia: – Ascultă Cuvântul Domnului:

17 L o, days are coming, and borne hath been all that in thy house, and that thy father have treasured up till this day, to Babylon; there is not left a thing, said Jehovah;

„Iată, vin zile când tot ce este în palatul tău şi tot ce au agonisit strămoşii tăi până în ziua aceasta, va fi dus la Babilon; nu va mai fi lăsat nimic, zice Domnul.

18 a nd of thy sons who go out from thee, whom thou begettest, they take away, and they have been eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.'

Unii dintre propriii tăi fii, care ţi s-au născut, îţi vor fi luaţi şi vor fi făcuţi eunuci în palatul împăratului Babilonului.“

19 A nd Hezekiah saith unto Isaiah, `Good the word of Jehovah that thou hast spoken;' and he saith, `Is it not -- if peace and truth are in my days?'

Ezechia i-a zis lui Isaia: – Cuvântul Domnului pe care l-ai rostit este bun. „De ce nu“, se gândea el, „atâta vreme cât în timpul vieţii mele va fi pace şi siguranţă?“

20 A nd the rest of the matters of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made the pool, and the conduit, and bringeth in the waters to the city, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Celelalte fapte ale lui Ezechia, toate isprăvile lui, cum a făcut iazul şi canalul prin care a adus apă în cetate, nu sunt scrise oare în „Cartea cronicilor regilor lui Iuda“?

21 A nd Hezekiah lieth with his fathers, and reign doth Manasseh his son in his stead.

Ezechia s-a culcat alături de părinţii săi, iar în locul lui a domnit fiul său Manase.
