1 G ive ye thanks to Jehovah -- call ye in His name, Make known among the peoples His acts.

Mulţumiţi Domnului, chemaţi Numele Lui! Faceţi cunoscute printre popoare isprăvile Lui!

2 S ing ye to Him -- sing praise to Him, Meditate ye on all His wonders.

Cântaţi-I, cântaţi în cinstea Lui, vestiţi toate minunile Lui!

3 B oast yourselves in His Holy Name, The heart of those seeking Jehovah rejoiceth.

Făliţi-vă cu Numele Lui cel sfânt! Să se bucure inima celor ce-L caută pe Domnul!

4 S eek ye Jehovah and His strength, Seek ye His face continually.

Căutaţi pe Domnul şi puterea Lui, căutaţi întotdeauna faţa Lui!

5 R emember His wonders that He did, His signs and the judgments of His mouth.

Aduceţi-vă aminte de minunile pe care le-a făcut, de semnele Sale şi de judecăţile rostite de gura Sa,

6 O seed of Abraham, His servant, O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones.

urmaşi ai robului Său Avraam, fii ai lui Iacov, aleşii Lui!

7 H e Jehovah our God, In all the earth His judgments.

El este Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru, şi judecăţile Lui se împlinesc pe tot pământul.

8 H e hath remembered to the age His covenant, The word He commanded to a thousand generations,

El Îşi aduce aminte mereu de legământul Lui, de cuvântul pe care l-a poruncit pentru o mie de generaţii,

9 T hat He hath made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac,

de legământul pe care l-a încheiat cu Avraam, de jurământul Lui către Isaac,

10 A nd doth establish it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel -- a covenant age-during,

pe care l-a întărit faţă de Iacov printr-o hotărâre şi faţă de Israel – printr-un legământ veşnic,

11 S aying, `To thee I give the land of Canaan, The portion of your inheritance,'

spunând: „Ţie îţi voi da ţara Canaanului, ca parte a moştenirii voastre.“

12 I n their being few in number, But a few, and sojourners in it.

Pe atunci erau doar câţiva bărbaţi – puţini la număr – şi erau peregrini în ţară;

13 A nd they go up and down, from nation unto nation, From a kingdom unto another people.

călătoreau de la un neam la altul, de la un regat la altul.

14 H e hath not suffered any to oppress them And He reproveth for their sakes kings.

El nu a îngăduit nici unui om să-i asuprească şi a mustrat regi din pricina lor:

15 ` Strike not against Mine anointed, And to My prophets do not evil.'

„Nu vă atingeţi de unşii Mei şi nu-i vătămaţi pe profeţii Mei!“

16 A nd He calleth a famine on the land, The whole staff of bread He hath broken.

A chemat foametea peste ţară şi a distrus orice provizie de hrană.

17 H e hath sent before them a man, For a servant hath Joseph been sold.

Trimisese înaintea lor un om, pe Iosif, care a fost vândut ca sclav.

18 T hey have afflicted with fetters his feet, Iron hath entered his soul,

I-au strâns picioarele în lanţuri, iar gâtul i-a fost pus în fiare,

19 T ill the time of the coming of His word The saying of Jehovah hath tried him.

până a venit vremea să se împlinească cuvintele Lui, să se dovedească Cuvântul Domnului faţă de el.

20 T he king hath sent, and looseth him, The ruler of the peoples, and draweth him out.

Atunci regele a trimis să-l dezlege şi conducătorul popoarelor – să-l elibereze.

21 H e hath made him lord of his house, And ruler over all his possessions.

L-a pus stăpân peste casa lui şi conducător peste toate proprietăţile lui,

22 T o bind his chiefs at his pleasure, And his elders he maketh wise.

ca să-i lege după bunu-i plac pe prinţii lui şi să-i înveţe pe bătrânii lui înţelepciunea.

23 A nd Israel cometh in to Egypt, And Jacob hath sojourned in the land of Ham.

Atunci Israel a venit în Egipt, Iacov a locuit ca străin în ţara lui Ham.

24 A nd He maketh His people very fruitful, And maketh it mightier than its adversaries.

Dumnezeu Şi-a înmulţit poporul foarte mult şi i-a făcut mai tari decât pe duşmanii lor.

25 H e turned their heart to hate His people, To conspire against His servants.

Acestora le-a schimbat inima, ca să-I urască poporul şi să se poarte mişeleşte cu slujitorii Săi.

26 H e hath sent Moses His servant, Aaron whom He had fixed on.

L-a trimis pe Moise, robul Său, şi pe Aaron pe care-l alesese.

27 T hey have set among them the matters of His signs, And wonders in the land of Ham.

Ei au înfăptuit printre duşmani semnele Lui şi au făcut minuni în ţara lui Ham.

28 H e hath sent darkness, and it is dark, And they have not provoked His word.

A trimis întunericul şi s-a făcut beznă; Moise şi Aaron nu s-au răzvrătit împotriva cuvintelor Lui.

29 H e hath turned their waters to blood, And putteth to death their fish.

Le-a prefăcut apa în sânge şi le-a omorât peştii.

30 T eemed hath their land frogs, In the inner chambers of their kings.

Ţara lor a mişunat de broaşte, care au ajuns până şi în odăile palatelor lor.

31 H e hath said, and the beetle cometh, Lice into all their border.

Când a grăit El, au sosit roiuri de muşte şi păduchi în tot ţinutul lor.

32 H e hath made their showers hail, A flaming fire in their land.

Le-a prefăcut ploile în grindină şi în flăcări de foc ce au căzut peste ţara lor.

33 A nd He smiteth their vine and their fig, And shivereth the trees of their border.

Le-a lovit viile şi smochinii şi le-a rupt copacii din teritoriul lor.

34 H e hath said, and the locust cometh, And the cankerworm -- innumerable,

Când a grăit El, au sosit roiuri de lăcuste, lăcuste fără număr,

35 A nd it consumeth every herb in their land, And it consumeth the fruit of their ground.

care le-au devorat toată verdeaţa din ţară, toate roadele pământului lor.

36 A nd He smiteth every first-born in their land, The first-fruit of all their strength,

I-a lovit pe întâii născuţi din ţara lor, pârga puterii lor.

37 A nd bringeth them out with silver and gold, And there is not in its tribes a feeble one.

El i-a scos pe israeliţi de acolo cu argint şi cu aur şi n-a fost unul din seminţiile Lui care să şovăiască.

38 R ejoiced hath Egypt in their going forth, For their fear had fallen upon them.

Egiptenii s-au bucurat de plecarea lor, căci îi îngroziseră.

39 H e hath spread a cloud for a covering, And fire to enlighten the night.

El a întins un nor ca să le fie învelitoare şi un foc ca să le dea lumină noaptea.

40 T hey have asked, and He bringeth quails, And bread of heaven satisfieth them.

Au cerut, iar El le-a trimis prepeliţe şi cu pâine din cer i-a săturat.

41 H e hath opened a rock, and waters issue, They have gone on in dry places -- a river.

A despicat stânca şi a curs apă; prin pustii au curs râuri.

42 F or He hath remembered His holy word, With Abraham His servant,

Şi aceasta pentru că Şi-a amintit de promisiunea Sa cea sfântă, făcută lui Avraam, robul Său.

43 A nd He bringeth forth His people with joy, With singing His chosen ones.

El Şi-a scos poporul cu bucurie, Şi-a scos aleşii cu strigăte de veselie.

44 A nd He giveth to them the lands of nations, And the labour of peoples they possess,

Le-a dat teritoriile neamurilor şi au moştenit rodul trudei noroadelor,

45 T hat they may observe His statutes, And His laws may keep. Praise ye Jehovah!

ca să păzească hotărârile Lui şi să trăiască după învăţăturile Lui. Lăudaţi-L pe Domnul!
