1 A nd I say, `Hear, I pray you, heads of Jacob, And ye judges of the house of Israel, Is it not for you to know the judgment?

Am zis: „Ascultaţi, căpetenii ale lui Iacov şi conducători ai casei lui Israel! N-ar trebui să cunoaşteţi dreptatea?

2 Y e who are hating good, and loving evil, Taking violently their skin from off them, And their flesh from off their bones,

Şi totuşi voi urâţi binele şi iubiţi răul, jupuiţi pielea de pe poporul Meu şi carnea de pe oasele lui,

3 A nd who have eaten the flesh of My people, And their skin from off them have stript, And their bones they have broken, And they have spread out as in a pot, And as flesh in the midst of a caldron.

mâncaţi carnea poporului meu, jupuiţi pielea de pe el şi îi zdrobiţi oasele, îl ciopârţiţi asemenea cărnii din oală, asemenea cărnii din cazan.

4 T hen do they cry unto Jehovah, And He doth not answer them, And hideth His face from them at that time, As they have made evil their doings.

Atunci când vor striga către Domnul, El nu le va răspunde; Îşi va ascunde faţa de ei în vremea aceea, pentru că au săvârşit fapte rele.“

5 T hus said Jehovah concerning the prophets Who are causing My people to err, Who are biting with their teeth, And have cried `Peace,' And he who doth not give unto their mouth, They have sanctified against him war.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: „Cât despre profeţii care Îmi duc în rătăcire poporul, aceştia, dacă au muşcat ceva cu dinţii, vestesc pacea, dar, dacă cineva nu le pune nimic în gură, se pregătesc de război împotriva lui.

6 T herefore a night ye have without vision, And darkness ye have without divination, And gone in hath the sun on the prophets, And black over them hath been the day.

De aceea, noaptea va veni peste voi, fără nici o vedenie, şi întunericul – fără nici o descoperire! Soarele va apune peste aceşti profeţi şi ziua se va întuneca peste ei.

7 A nd ashamed have been the seers, And confounded have been the diviners, And covered their lip have all of them, For their is no answer, O God.

Văzătorii vor fi făcuţi de ruşine, iar prezicătorii vor fi umiliţi. Îşi vor acoperi barba cu toţii, căci nu va fi răspuns de la Dumnezeu.“

8 A nd yet I have been full of power by the Spirit of Jehovah, And of judgment, and of might, To declare to Jacob his transgression, And to Israel his sin.

Cât despre mine, eu sunt plin de putere, plin de Duhul Domnului, de dreptate şi de tărie, ca să-i fac cunoscută lui Iacov nelegiuirea lui şi lui Israel – păcatul lui.

9 H ear this, I pray you, heads of the house of Jacob, And ye judges of the house of Israel, Who are making judgment abominable, And all uprightness do pervert.

„Ascultaţi aceasta, căpetenii ale casei lui Iacov şi conducători ai casei lui Israel, voi, care aveţi silă faţă de dreptate şi suciţi tot ce este drept,

10 B uilding up Zion with blood, And Jerusalem with iniquity.

voi, care zidiţi Sionul prin vărsare de sânge şi Ierusalimul – cu nedreptate!

11 H er heads for a bribe do judge, And her priests for hire do teach, And her prophets for silver divine, And on Jehovah they lean, saying, `Is not Jehovah in our midst? Evil doth not come in upon us.'

Căpeteniile lui judecă pe mită, preoţii lui dau învăţătură pentru plată, iar profeţii lui fac preziceri în schimbul argintului. Ei încă se sprijină şi pe Domnul, zicând: «Oare nu este Domnul în mijlocul nostru?! Nu va veni peste noi nici o nenorocire!»

12 T herefore, for your sake, Zion is ploughed a field, and Jerusalem is heaps, And the mount of the house for high places of a forest!

De aceea, din pricina voastră, Sionul va fi arat ca un ogor, Ierusalimul va deveni un morman de ruine, iar muntele Casei va deveni o înălţime acoperită cu păduri.“
