1 I n the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, come hath Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his force unto Jerusalem, and they lay siege against it;

În al nouălea an al lui Zedechia, regele lui Iuda, în luna a zecea, Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, a înaintat împotriva Ierusalimului cu toată oştirea sa şi l-a asediat,

2 i n the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, in the ninth of the month, hath the city been broken up;

iar în al unsprezecelea an, în ziua a noua a lunii a patra, a pătruns în cetate.

3 a nd come in do all the heads of the king of Babylon, and they sit at the middle gate, Nergal-Sharezer, Samgar-Nebo, Sarsechim, chief of the eunuchs, Nergal-Sharezer, chief of the Mages, and all the rest of the heads of the king of Babylon.

Atunci, toţi conducătorii împăratului Babilonului au venit şi s-au aşezat lângă Poarta din Mijloc. Erau: Nergal-Şareţer, Samgar-Nebo, Sarsechim, care era Rab-Saris, Nergal-Sareţer, care era Rab-Mag, şi toţi ceilalţi conducători ai împăratului Babilonului.

4 A nd it cometh to pass, when Zedekiah king of Judah, and all the men of war, have seen them, that they flee and go forth by night from the city, the way of the king's garden, through the gate between the two walls, and he goeth forth the way of the plain.

Când Zedechia, regele lui Iuda, şi toţi ostaşii lui i-au văzut, au fugit. Ei au părăsit cetatea în timpul nopţii pe drumul grădinii regelui, prin poarta dintre cele două ziduri, şi au luat-o pe drumul spre Araba.

5 A nd the forces of the Chaldeans pursue after them, and overtake Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho, and they take him, and bring him up unto Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, to Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he speaketh with him -- judgments.

Oştirea caldeenilor i-a urmărit însă şi l-a ajuns pe Zedechia în câmpiile Ierihonului. L-au capturat şi l-au dus la Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, la Ribla, în ţara Hamatului. Acesta a rostit o sentinţă împotriva lui.

6 A nd the king of Babylon slaughtereth the sons of Zedekiah, in Riblah, before his eyes, yea, all the freemen of Judah hath the king of Babylon slaughtered.

Acolo, la Ribla, împăratul Babilonului i-a înjunghiat pe fiii lui Zedechia înaintea ochilor lui. De asemenea i-a înjunghiat şi pe toţi nobilii lui Iuda,

7 A nd the eyes of Zedekiah he hath blinded, and he bindeth him with brazen fetters, to bring him in to Babylon.

după care i-a scos ochii lui Zedechia şi l-a legat cu lanţuri de bronz ca să-l ducă în Babilon.

8 A nd the house of the king, and the house of the people, have the Chaldeans burnt with fire, and the walls of Jerusalem they have broken down.

Caldeenii au dat foc atât palatului regelui cât şi caselor poporului şi au dărâmat zidurile Ierusalimului.

9 A nd the remnant of the people who are left in the city, and those falling who have fallen to him, and the remnant of the people who are left, hath Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, removed Babylon.

Nebuzaradan, căpetenia gărzilor, a dus în captivitate în Babilon poporul care mai rămăsese în cetate, împreună cu toţi cei care i se predaseră şi cu toată rămăşiţa poporului.

10 A nd of the poor people, who have nothing, hath Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, left in the land of Judah, and he giveth to them vineyards and fields on the same day.

Însă Nebuzaradan, căpetenia gărzilor, i-a lăsat în ţara lui Iuda pe unii dintre cei mai săraci din popor, care nu aveau nimic. Tot atunci el le-a dat vii şi ogoare. Eliberarea lui Ieremia

11 A nd Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon giveth a charge concerning Jeremiah, by the hand of Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, saying,

Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, i-a dat următoarea poruncă lui Nebuzaradan, căpetenia gărzilor, cu privire la Ieremia:

12 ` Take him, and place thine eyes upon him, and do no evil thing to him, but as he speaketh unto thee, so do with him.'

„Ia-l şi poartă-i de grijă! Să nu-i faci nici un rău, ci fă-i tot ceea ce-ţi va cere!“

13 A nd Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners sendeth, and Nebushazban, chief of the eunuchs, and Nergal-Sharezer, chief of the Mages, and all the chiefs of the king of Babylon;

Astfel Nebuzaradan, căpetenia gărzilor, Nebuşazban, care era Rab-Saris, Nergal-Şareţer, care era Rab-Mag, şi toţi ceilalţi conducători ai împăratului Babilonului,

14 y ea, they send and take Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and give him unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, to carry him home, and he dwelleth in the midst of the people.

au trimis să-l aducă pe Ieremia din curtea temniţei şi l-au încredinţat lui Ghedalia, fiul lui Ahikam, fiul lui Şafan, ca să-l ducă înapoi acasă. Şi Ieremia a rămas în mijlocul poporului.

15 A nd unto Jeremiah hath a word of Jehovah been -- in his being detained in the court of the prison -- saying:

Cuvântul Domnului îi vorbise astfel lui Ieremia atunci când era închis în curtea temniţei:

16 ` Go, and thou hast spoken to Ebed-Melech the Cushite, saying: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am bringing in My words unto this city for evil, and not for good, and they have been before thee in that day.

„Du-te şi spune-i cuşitului Ebed-Melek astfel: «Aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: ‘Iată, voi împlini cuvintele pe care le-am rostit împotriva cetăţii acesteia şi voi aduce asupra ei nenorocirea şi nu bunăstarea. În ziua aceea, ele se vor împlini sub privirea ta.

17 A nd I have delivered thee in that day -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- and thou art not given into the hand of the men of whose face thou art afraid,

Pe tine însă te voi izbăvi în ziua aceea, zice Domnul, şi nu te voi da în mâinile celor de care te temi.

18 f or I do certainly deliver thee, and by sword thou fallest not, and thy life hath been to thee for a spoil, for thou hast trusted in Me -- an affirmation of Jehovah.'

Eu te voi scăpa şi nu vei cădea ucis de sabie. Prada ta de război va fi însăşi viaţa ta, pentru că te-ai încrezut în Mine, zice Domnul.’»“
