1 A s to the rest, pray ye, brethren, concerning us, that the word of the Lord may run and may be glorified, as also with you,

În cele din urmă, fraţilor, rugaţi-vă pentru noi, ca să se răspândească repede Cuvântul Domnului şi să fie onorat, aşa cum este între voi,

2 a nd that we may be delivered from the unreasonable and evil men, for the faith not of all;

şi să fim izbăviţi de oamenii neascultători şi răi, căci nu toţi au credinţă.

3 a nd stedfast is the Lord, who shall establish you, and shall guard from the evil;

Însă Domnul este credincios, El vă va întări şi vă va păzi de cel rău.

4 a nd we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that the things that we command you ye both do and will do;

Avem încredere în Domnul că faceţi, şi veţi continua să faceţi, lucrurile pe care vi le-am poruncit.

5 a nd the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God, and to the endurance of the Christ.

Domnul să vă îndrepte inimile către dragostea lui Dumnezeu şi răbdarea lui Cristos! Împotriva leneviei

6 A nd we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to withdraw yourselves from every brother disorderly walking, and not after the deliverance that ye received from us,

Vă poruncim, fraţilor, în Numele Domnului nostru Isus Cristos, să vă îndepărtaţi de orice frate care trăieşte în lenevie şi nu după tradiţia pe care aţi primit-o de la noi!

7 f or yourselves have known how it behoveth to imitate us, because we did not act disorderly among you;

Voi înşivă ştiţi că trebuie să urmaţi exemplul nostru; noi n-am fost leneşi când am fost la voi,

8 n or for nought did we eat bread of any one, but in labour and in travail, night and day working, not to be chargeable to any of you;

n-am mâncat pâinea nimănui fără s-o plătim, ci, cu trudă şi muncă grea, am lucrat zi şi noapte, ca să nu fim o povară pentru nici unul dintre voi.

9 n ot because we have not authority, but that ourselves a pattern we might give to you, to imitate us;

Şi aceasta nu pentru că n-am avea acest drept, ci ca să fim un exemplu pe care să-l urmaţi.

10 f or even when we were with you, this we did command you, that if any one is not willing to work, neither let him eat,

Atunci când eram la voi v-am dat această poruncă: „Cine nu vrea să lucreze, nici să nu mănânce.“

11 f or we hear of certain walking among you disorderly, nothing working, but over working,

Auzim însă că unii dintre voi trăiesc în lenevie; ei nu lucrează nimic şi sunt sâcâitori.

12 a nd such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness working, their own bread they may eat;

Unor astfel de oameni le poruncim şi îi încurajăm în Domnul Isus Cristos să-şi mănânce pâinea, lucrând în linişte.

13 a nd ye, brethren, may ye not be weary doing well,

Însă voi, fraţilor, să nu obosiţi făcând binele!

14 a nd if any one do not obey our word through the letter, this one note ye, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed,

Dacă cineva nu ascultă cuvântul nostru din această scrisoare, fiţi atenţi să nu aveţi nimic de-a face cu el, astfel încât să se simtă ruşinat.

15 a nd as an enemy count not, but admonish ye as a brother;

Să nu-l priviţi ca pe un duşman, ci sfătuiţi-l ca pe un frate. Cuvinte de încheiere

16 a nd may the Lord of the peace Himself give to you the peace always in every way; the Lord with you all!

Însuşi Domnul păcii să vă dea pace întotdeauna şi în orice fel. Domnul să fie cu voi toţi!

17 T he salutation by the hand of me, Paul, which is a sign in every letter; thus I write;

Eu, Pavel, scriu această salutare cu mâna mea – acesta este semnul în fiecare dintre scrisorile mele.

18 t he grace of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all! Amen.
