1 A nd Jehovah saith unto me: `Again, go, love a woman, loved of a friend, and an adulteress, like the loved of Jehovah, the sons of Israel, and they are turning unto other gods, and are lovers of grape-cakes.'

Domnul mi-a zis: „Du-te iarăşi şi arată-ţi dragostea faţă de soţie, deşi ea este iubită de un altul şi este o adulteră. Iubeşte-o tot aşa cum şi Domnul îi iubeşte pe israeliţi, deşi ei s-au dus după alţi dumnezei şi iubesc turtele cu stafide.“

2 A nd I buy her to me for fifteen silverlings, and a homer and a letech of barley;

Mi-am cumpărat-o cu cincisprezece şecheli de argint şi cu un homer şi un letek de orz.

3 a nd I say unto her, `Many days thou dost remain for Me, thou dost not go a-whoring, nor become any one's; and I also for thee.'

Apoi i-am zis: „Vei rămâne la mine multe zile. Nu te vei mai prostitua şi nu vei mai fi cu nici un alt bărbat. În tot acest timp, nici eu nu mă voi apropia de tine.“

4 F or many days remain do the sons of Israel without a king, and there is no prince, and there is no sacrifice, and there is no standing pillar, and there is no ephod and teraphim.

Căci tot atât de multe zile vor rămâne şi israeliţii fără rege, fără prinţ, fără jertfă, fără stâlp sacru, fără efod şi fără terafimi.

5 A fterwards turned back have the sons of Israel, and sought Jehovah their God, and David their king, and have hastened unto Jehovah, and unto His goodness, in the latter end of the days.

După aceea, israeliţii se vor întoarce şi Îl vor căuta pe Domnul, Dumnezeul lor, şi pe David, regele lor. În zilele de pe urmă vor veni cu veneraţie la Domnul şi la bunătatea Lui.
