1 A nd strengthen himself doth Solomon son of David over his kingdom, and Jehovah his God with him, and maketh him exceedingly great.

Solomon, fiul lui David, şi-a întărit domnia, iar Domnul, Dumnezeul lui, a fost cu el, înălţându-l nespus de mult.

2 A nd Solomon saith to all Israel, to heads of the thousands, and of the hundreds, and to judges, and to every honourable one of all Israel, heads of the fathers,

Solomon a vorbit întregului Israel – conducătorilor peste mii şi peste sute, judecătorilor, tuturor prinţilor lui Israel şi căpeteniilor de familii –

3 a nd they go -- Solomon, and all the assembly with him -- to the high place that in Gibeon, for there hath been God's tent of meeting, that Moses, servant of Jehovah, made in the wilderness,

după care Solomon împreună cu întreaga adunare s-au dus pe înălţimea de la Ghivon. Acolo se afla Cortul Întâlnirii lui Dumnezeu, pe care Moise, robul Domnului, îl făcuse în pustie.

4 b ut the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath-Jearim, when David prepared for it, for he stretched out for it a tent in Jerusalem;

Chivotul lui Dumnezeu fusese luat de David din Chiriat-Iearim şi dus în locul pe care David i-l pregătise, căci el îi întinsese un cort la Ierusalim.

5 a nd the altar of brass that Bezaleel son of Uri, son of Hur made, he put before the tabernacle of Jehovah; and Solomon and the assembly seek to it.

Însă altarul de bronz pe care-l făcuse Beţalel, fiul lui Uri, fiul lui Hur, se afla înaintea Tabernaculului Domnului. Solomon şi adunarea L-au căutat pe Domnul înaintea acestui altar.

6 A nd Solomon goeth up thither, on the altar of brass, before Jehovah, that at the tent of meeting, and causeth to ascend upon it a thousand burnt-offerings.

Solomon s-a dus înaintea Domnului, acolo, la altarul de aramă, la Cortul Întâlnirii, şi a adus pe el o mie de arderi de tot.

7 I n that night hath God appeared to Solomon, and saith to him, `Ask -- what do I give to thee?'

În noaptea aceea, Dumnezeu i S-a arătat lui Solomon şi i-a zis: – Cere-Mi orice vrei să-ţi dau!

8 A nd Solomon saith to God, `Thou hast done with David my father great kindness, and hast caused me to reign in his stead.

– Tu ai arătat o mare îndurare faţă de tatăl meu, David, I-a răspuns Solomon lui Dumnezeu, şi m-ai pus să domnesc în locul lui.

9 N ow, O Jehovah God, is Thy word with David my father stedfast, for Thou hast caused me to reign over a people numerous as the dust of the earth;

Acum, Doamne Dumnezeule, întăreşte promisiunea pe care i-ai făcut-o tatălui meu, David, căci Tu m-ai pus să domnesc peste un popor numeros ca pulberea pământului.

10 n ow, wisdom and knowledge give to me, and I go out before this people, and I come in, for who doth judge this Thy great people?'

De aceea dă-mi înţelepciune şi cunoştinţă ca să pot conduce poporul acesta, căci cine poate judeca acest popor al Tău atât de numeros?

11 A nd God saith to Solomon, `Because that this hath been with thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, and honour, and the life of those hating thee, and also many days hast not asked, and dost ask for thyself wisdom and knowledge, so that thou dost judge My people over which I have caused thee to reign --

Dumnezeu i-a răspuns lui Solomon: – Pentru că aceasta a fost dorinţa inimii tale şi nu ai cerut nici bogăţie, nici belşug, nici faimă, nici moartea duşmanilor tăi şi nici o viaţă lungă, ci ai cerut înţelepciune şi cunoştinţă pentru a-Mi putea judeca poporul peste care te-am pus să domneşti,

12 t he wisdom and the knowledge is given to thee, and riches and wealth and honour I give to thee, that there hath not been so to the kings who before thee, and after thee it is not so.'

înţelepciunea şi cunoştinţa îţi sunt date. Mai mult, îţi voi da asemenea bogăţii, belşug şi faimă, cum nu s-a mai văzut la nici unul din regii care au trăit înaintea ta şi nici nu se va mai vedea la nimeni după tine.

13 A nd Solomon cometh in the high place that in Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tent of meeting, and reigneth over Israel,

După aceea, Solomon a plecat de la înălţimea din Ghivon, unde se afla Cortul Întâlnirii, s-a întors la Ierusalim şi a domnit peste Israel. Administrarea imperiului de către Solomon

14 a nd Solomon gathereth chariots and horsemen, and he hath a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, and he placeth them in the cities of the chariots, and with the king in Jerusalem.

Solomon a adunat care şi cai; avea o mie patru sute de care şi douăsprezece mii de cai pe care îi ţinea în cetăţile pentru care, precum şi împreună cu el la Ierusalim.

15 A nd the king maketh the silver and the gold in Jerusalem as stones, and the cedars he made as sycamores that in the low country, for abundance.

Regele a făcut ca argintul şi aurul să fie la fel de obişnuite în Ierusalim precum pietrele, iar cedrii la fel de numeroşi precum sicomorii de pe dealuri.

16 A nd the source of the horses that to Solomon from Egypt and from Keva; merchants of the king from Keva take at a price,

Caii lui Solomon erau aduşi din Egipt şi din Kue; negustorii regelui îi cumpărau din Kue pe un preţ stabilit.

17 a nd they come up, and bring out from Egypt a chariot for six hundred silverlings, and a horse for fifty and a hundred, and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Aram -- by their hand they bring out.

Ei cumpărau un car din Egipt cu şase sute de şecheli de argint, iar un cal cu o sută cincizeci de şecheli. De asemenea, ei vindeau cai şi care tuturor regilor hitiţilor şi regilor Aramului.
