1 A nd strengthen himself doth Solomon son of David over his kingdom, and Jehovah his God with him, and maketh him exceedingly great.

Salomone, figlio di Davide, si stabilí saldamente nel suo regno, e l'Eterno, il suo DIO, fu con lui e lo rese estremamente grande.

2 A nd Solomon saith to all Israel, to heads of the thousands, and of the hundreds, and to judges, and to every honourable one of all Israel, heads of the fathers,

Salomone parlò a tutto Israele, ai capi delle migliaia e delle centinaia, ai giudici, a tutti i principi di tutto Israele, capi delle case paterne.

3 a nd they go -- Solomon, and all the assembly with him -- to the high place that in Gibeon, for there hath been God's tent of meeting, that Moses, servant of Jehovah, made in the wilderness,

Poi Salomone insieme a tutta l'assemblea si recò all'alto luogo, che c'era a Gabaon, perché là si trovava la tenda di convegno di DIO che Mosè, servo dell'Eterno, aveva costruito nel deserto.

4 b ut the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath-Jearim, when David prepared for it, for he stretched out for it a tent in Jerusalem;

L'arca di DIO, invece, Davide l'aveva trasportata da Kirjath-Jearim al luogo che egli aveva preparato per essa; egli infatti aveva piantato per essa una tenda a Gerusalemme.

5 a nd the altar of brass that Bezaleel son of Uri, son of Hur made, he put before the tabernacle of Jehovah; and Solomon and the assembly seek to it.

L'altare di bronzo, fatto da Betsaleel, figlio di Uri, figlio di Ur, lo pose davanti al tabernacolo dell'Eterno. Salomone e l'assemblea vi andarono a ricercare l'Eterno.

6 A nd Solomon goeth up thither, on the altar of brass, before Jehovah, that at the tent of meeting, and causeth to ascend upon it a thousand burnt-offerings.

Là Salomone salí all'altare di bronzo davanti all'Eterno che era alla tenda di convegno, e su di esso offrí mille olocausti.

7 I n that night hath God appeared to Solomon, and saith to him, `Ask -- what do I give to thee?'

In quella notte DIO apparve a Salomone e gli disse: «Chiedi ciò che vuoi che io ti conceda».

8 A nd Solomon saith to God, `Thou hast done with David my father great kindness, and hast caused me to reign in his stead.

Salomone rispose a Dio: «Tu hai usato grande benevolenza a Davide, mio padre, e hai fatto regnare me al suo posto.

9 N ow, O Jehovah God, is Thy word with David my father stedfast, for Thou hast caused me to reign over a people numerous as the dust of the earth;

Ora, o Eterno DIO, si avveri la tua promessa fatta a Davide mio padre, perché tu mi hai fatto re sopra un popolo numeroso come la polvere della terra!

10 n ow, wisdom and knowledge give to me, and I go out before this people, and I come in, for who doth judge this Thy great people?'

Dammi dunque sapienza e intelligenza, affinché io possa uscire ed entrare davanti a questo popolo, perché chi mai potrebbe governare questo tuo grande popolo?».

11 A nd God saith to Solomon, `Because that this hath been with thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, and honour, and the life of those hating thee, and also many days hast not asked, and dost ask for thyself wisdom and knowledge, so that thou dost judge My people over which I have caused thee to reign --

DIO disse a Salomone: «Poiché questa era la cosa che avevi in cuore e non mi hai chiesto né ricchezze né beni né gloria né la vita dei tuoi nemici e neppure hai chiesto una lunga vita, ma hai chiesto per te sapienza e intelligenza per poter governare il mio popolo sul quale ti ho costituito re,

12 t he wisdom and the knowledge is given to thee, and riches and wealth and honour I give to thee, that there hath not been so to the kings who before thee, and after thee it is not so.'

sapienza e intelligenza ti sono concesse. Ti darò inoltre ricchezze, beni e gloria, quali nessuno dei re che è stato prima di te ha mai avuto, né alcuno dopo di te avrà».

13 A nd Solomon cometh in the high place that in Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tent of meeting, and reigneth over Israel,

Salomone tornò quindi dall'alto luogo che era a Gabaon, dalla tenda di convegno, a Gerusalemme, e regnò sopra Israele.

14 a nd Solomon gathereth chariots and horsemen, and he hath a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, and he placeth them in the cities of the chariots, and with the king in Jerusalem.

Salomone radunò carri e cavalieri, ed ebbe millequattrocento carri e dodicimila cavalieri, che collocò nelle città dei carri e presso il re a Gerusalemme.

15 A nd the king maketh the silver and the gold in Jerusalem as stones, and the cedars he made as sycamores that in the low country, for abundance.

Inoltre il re fece in modo che in Gerusalemme l'argento e l'oro fossero comuni come le pietre, e i cedri abbondanti come i sicomori della pianura.

16 A nd the source of the horses that to Solomon from Egypt and from Keva; merchants of the king from Keva take at a price,

I cavalli di Salomone erano importati dall'Egitto e da Kue; i mercanti del re li andavano a prendere a Kue per un prezzo convenuto.

17 a nd they come up, and bring out from Egypt a chariot for six hundred silverlings, and a horse for fifty and a hundred, and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Aram -- by their hand they bring out.

Essi facevano pure venire e importavano dall'Egitto un carro per seicento sicli, d'argento e un cavallo per centocinquanta. Cosí, per mezzo di questi mercanti, li esportavano a tutti i re degli Hittei e ai re della Siria.
