1 A nd it cometh to pass, after these things -- the butler of the king of Egypt and the baker have sinned against their lord, against the king of Egypt;

Dopo queste cose, avvenne che il coppiere e il panettiere del re di Egitto offesero il loro signore, il re d'Egitto.

2 a nd Pharaoh is wroth against his two eunuchs, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers,

E il Faraone si adirò con i suoi due ufficiali, con il capocoppiere e il capopanettiere,

3 a nd giveth them in charge in the house of the chief of the executioners, unto the round-house, the place where Joseph a prisoner,

E li fece mettere in carcere, nella casa del capo delle guardie, nella stessa prigione dove era rinchiuso Giuseppe.

4 a nd the chief of the executioners chargeth Joseph with them, and he serveth them; and they are days in charge.

E il capitano delle guardie li affidò alla sorveglianza di Giuseppe il quale li assisteva. Così essi rimasero in prigione per un certo tempo.

5 A nd they dream a dream both of them, each his dream in one night, each according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker whom the king of Egypt hath, who prisoners in the round-house.

Nella stessa notte, il coppiere e il panettiere del re d'Egitto, che erano rinchiusi nella prigione, fecero entrambi un sogno, ciascuno il suo sogno, col suo particolare significato.

6 A nd Joseph cometh in unto them in the morning, and seeth them, and lo, they morose;

Il mattino seguente, Giuseppe venne da loro, e vide che erano preoccupati.

7 a nd he asketh Pharaoh's eunuchs who with him in charge in the house of his lord, saying, `Wherefore your faces sad to-day?'

Allora egli interrogò gli ufficiali del Faraone che erano con lui in prigione nella casa del suo padrone e disse: «Perché avete oggi il viso così mesto?».

8 A nd they say unto him, `A dream we have dreamed, and there is no interpreter of it;' and Joseph saith unto them, `Are not interpretations with God? recount, I pray you, to me.'

Essi gli risposero: «Abbiamo fatto un sogno e non vi è alcuno che lo possa interpretare». Allora Giuseppe disse loro: «Le interpretazioni non appartengono a DIO? Raccontatemi i sogni, vi prego».

9 A nd the chief of the butlers recounteth his dream to Joseph, and saith to him, `In my dream, then lo, a vine before me!

Così il capocoppiere raccontò il suo sogno a Giuseppe e gli disse: «Nel mio sogno, ecco mi stava davanti una vite;

10 a nd in the vine three branches, and it as it were flourishing; gone up hath its blossom, its clusters have ripened grapes;

e in quella vite vi erano tre tralci; appena ebbe messo i germogli, fiorì e diede dei grappoli di uva matura.

11 a nd Pharaoh's cup in my hand, and I take the grapes and press them into the cup of Pharaoh, and I give the cup into the hand of Pharaoh.'

Ora io avevo in mano la coppa del Faraone; presi l'uva, la spremetti nella coppa del Faraone e misi la coppa in mano del Faraone».

12 A nd Joseph saith to him, `This its interpretation: the three branches are three days;

Giuseppe gli disse: «Questa è l'interpretazione del sogno: i tre tralci sono tre giorni;

13 y et, within three days doth Pharaoh lift up thy head, and hath put thee back on thy station, and thou hast given the cup of Pharaoh into his hand, according to the former custom when thou wast his butler.

in capo a tre giorni il Faraone ti farà rialzare il capo, ti ristabilirà nel tuo ufficio e tu darai in mano al Faraone la coppa, come facevi prima, quando eri suo coppiere.

14 ` Surely if thou hast remembered me with thee, when it is well with thee, and hast done (I pray thee) kindness with me, and hast made mention of me unto Pharaoh, then hast thou brought me out from this house,

Ma ricordati di me quando sarai felice; ti prego, usa benevolenza nei miei confronti, parlando di me al Faraone, e fammi uscire da questa casa;

15 f or I was really stolen from the land of the Hebrews; and here also have I done nothing that they have put me in the pit.'

perché io fui portato via di nascosto dal paese degli Ebrei, e anche qui non ho fatto nulla da essere messo in questa prigione sotterranea».

16 A nd the chief of the bakers seeth that he hath interpreted good, and he saith unto Joseph, `I also in a dream, and lo, three baskets of white bread on my head,

Il capopanettiere, vedendo che la interpretazione era favorevole, disse a Giuseppe: «Anch'io nel mio sogno, ecco, avevo tre canestri di pane bianco sul capo;

17 a nd in the uppermost basket of all of Pharaoh's food, work of a baker; and the birds are eating them out of the basket, from off my head.'

e nel canestro piú alto vi era ogni sorta di vivande cotte al forno per il Faraone; e gli uccelli le mangiavano dal canestro che avevo sul capo».

18 A nd Joseph answereth and saith, `This its interpretation: the three baskets are three days;

Allora Giuseppe rispose e disse: «Questa è l'interpretazione del sogno: i tre canestri sono tre giorni;

19 y et, within three days doth Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and hath hanged thee on a tree, and the birds have eaten thy flesh from off thee.'

in capo a tre giorni il Faraone ti asporterà la testa dalle spalle, ti farà impiccare a un albero, e gli uccelli ti mangeranno le carni addosso».

20 A nd it cometh to pass, on the third day, Pharaoh's birthday, that he maketh a banquet to all his servants, and lifteth up the head of the chief of the butlers, and the head of the chief of the bakers among his servants,

Ora il terzo giorno, il giorno del compleanno del Faraone, avvenne che egli fece un banchetto per tutti i suoi servi; e fece alzare il capo al capocoppiere e alzare il capo al capopanettiere in mezzo ai suoi servi.

21 a nd he putteth back the chief of the butlers to his butlership, and he giveth the cup into the hand of Pharaoh;

Così ristabilì il capocoppiere nel suo ufficio di coppiere, perché mettesse la coppa in mano del Faraone,

22 a nd the chief of the bakers he hath hanged, as Joseph hath interpreted to them;

ma fece impiccare il capopanettiere secondo la interpretazione che Giuseppe aveva loro data.

23 a nd the chief of the butlers hath not remembered Joseph, but forgetteth him.

Il capocoppiere però non si ricordò di Giuseppe, ma lo dimenticò.
