1 A nd it cometh to pass, in the sixth year, in the sixth, in the fifth of the month, I am sitting in my house, and elders of Judah are sitting before me, and fall on me there doth a hand of the Lord Jehovah,

Nel sesto anno, nel sesto mese, il cinque del mese, avvenne che mentre ero seduto in casa mia e gli anziani di Giuda stavano seduti di fronte a me, la mano del Signore, l'Eterno, cadde in quel luogo su di me.

2 a nd I look, and lo, a likeness as the appearance of fire, from the appearance of His loins and downward -- fire, and from His loins and upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of copper.

Io guardai, ed ecco una figura di uomo dall'aspetto di fuoco; da ciò che sembravano i suoi lombi, in giú pareva di fuoco, e da ciò che sembravano i suoi lombi in su pareva splendente come il colore di bronzo incandescente,

3 A nd He putteth forth a form of a hand, and taketh me by a lock of my head, and lift me up doth a spirit between the earth and the heavens, and it bringeth me in to Jerusalem in visions of God, unto the opening of the inner gate that is facing the north, where the seat of the figure of jealousy that is making jealous,

Egli stese una forma di mano e mi afferrò per una ciocca dei miei capelli, e lo Spirito mi sollevò fra terra e cielo e mi trasportò in visioni di DIO a Gerusalemme, all'ingresso della porta interna che guarda a nord, dove era posto l'idolo della gelosia, che provoca a gelosia.

4 a nd lo, there the honour of the God of Israel, as the appearance that I saw in the valley.

5 A nd He saith unto me, `Son of man, lift up, I pray thee, thine eyes the way of the north.' And I lift up mine eyes the way of the north, and lo, on the north of the gate of the altar this figure of jealousy, at the entrance.

Quindi egli mi disse: «Figlio d'uomo, alza ora i tuoi occhi verso il nord». Cosí alzai i miei occhi verso il nord, ed ecco, a nord della porta dell'altare, proprio all'ingresso, c'era l'idolo della gelosia.

6 A nd He saith unto me, `Son of man, art thou seeing what they are doing? the great abominations that the house of Israel are doing here, to keep far off from My sanctuary; and again thou dost turn, thou dost see great abominations.'

Ed egli mi disse: «Figlio d'uomo, vedi ciò che fanno costoro, le grandi abominazioni che qui commette la casa d'Israele e che mi fanno allontanare dal mio santuario? Ma tu vedrai abominazioni ancora piú grandi».

7 A nd He bringeth me in unto an opening of the court, and I look, and lo, a hole in the wall;

Cosí egli mi condusse all'ingresso del cortile. Io guardai, ed ecco un buco nella parete.

8 a nd He saith unto me, `Son of man, dig, I pray thee, through the wall;' and I dig through the wall, and lo, an opening.

Allora mi disse: «Figlio d'uomo, fa' un foro nella parete». Cosí feci un foro nella parete, ed ecco un'apertura.

9 A nd He saith to me, `Go in, and see the evil abominations that they are doing here.'

Egli mi disse: «Entra e guarda le malvagie abominazioni che costoro commettono qui».

10 A nd I go in, and look, and lo, every form of creeping thing, and detestable beast -- and all the Idols of the house of Israel -- graved on the wall, all round about,

Cosí entrai a guardare, ed ecco ogni sorta di rettili e di bestie abominevoli e tutti gl'idoli della casa d'Israele, intagliati tutt'intorno sulla parete.

11 a nd seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel -- and Jaazaniah son of Shaphan standing in their midst -- are standing before them, and each his censer in his hand, and the abundance of the cloud of perfume is going up.

E davanti ad essi stavano settanta uomini fra gli anziani della casa d'Israele, in mezzo ai quali era Jaazaniah, figlio di Shafan, ciascuno con il suo turibolo in mano, dal quale saliva una densa nuvola d'incenso.

12 A nd He saith unto me, `Hast thou seen, son of man, that which elders of the house of Israel are doing in darkness, each in the inner chambers of his imagery, for they are saying, Jehovah is not seeing us, Jehovah hath forsaken the land?'

Quindi mi disse: «Figlio d'uomo, hai visto ciò che gli anziani della casa d'Israele fanno nell'oscurità, ciascuno nella camera delle sue immagini? Infatti dicono: "L'Eterno non ci vede, l'Eterno ha abbandonato il paese.

13 A nd He saith unto me, `Again thou dost turn, thou dost see great abominations that they are doing.'

Poi mi disse: «Tu vedrai abominazioni ancora piú grandi che commettono».

14 A nd He bringeth me in unto the opening of the gate of the house of Jehovah that at the north, and lo, there the women are sitting weeping for Tammuz.

Allora mi condusse all'ingresso della porta della casa dell'Eterno, che è verso il nord; ed ecco, là sedevano donne che piangevano Tammuz.

15 A nd He saith unto me, `Hast thou seen, son of man? again thou dost turn, thou dost see greater abominations than these.'

Quindi mi disse: «Hai visto, figlio d'uomo? Tu vedrai abominazioni ancora piú grandi di queste».

16 A nd He bringeth me in unto the inner court of the house of Jehovah, and lo, at the opening of the temple of Jehovah, between the porch and the altar, about twenty-five men, their backs toward the temple of Jehovah, and their faces eastward, and they are bowing themselves eastward to the sun.

Allora mi condusse nel cortile interno della casa dell'Eterno; ed ecco, all'ingresso del tempio, dell'Eterno, fra il portico e l'altare, circa venticinque uomini, con le spalle voltate al tempio dell'Eterno e la faccia rivolta a est, che adoravano il sole a est.

17 A nd He saith unto me, `Hast thou seen, son of man? hath it been a light thing to the house of Judah to do the abomination that they have done here, that they have filled the land with violence, and turn back to provoke Me to anger? and lo, they are putting forth the branch unto their nose!

Poi mi disse: «Hai visto, figlio d'uomo? E' forse piccola cosa per la casa di Giuda commettere le abominazioni che commette qui? Essi infatti hanno riempito il paese di violenza e mi hanno ripetutamente provocato ad ira. Ed ecco, si portano il ramo al naso.

18 A nd I also deal in fury, Mine eye doth not pity, nor do I spare, and they have cried in Mine ears -- a loud voice -- and I do not hear them.'

Perciò anch'io agirò con furore; il mio occhio non avrà compassione e non userò alcuna pietà. Anche se faranno pervenire alte grida ai miei orecchi, non li ascolterò».
