1 T here is, then, now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit;

Ora dunque non vi è alcuna condanna per coloro che sono in Cristo Gesú, i quali non camminano secondo la carne ma secondo lo Spirito,

2 f or the law of the Spirit of the life in Christ Jesus did set me free from the law of the sin and of the death;

perché la legge dello Spirito della vita in Cristo Gesú mi ha liberato dalla legge del peccato e della morte.

3 f or what the law was not able to do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, His own Son having sent in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, did condemn the sin in the flesh,

Infatti ciò che era impossibile alla legge, in quanto era senza forza a motivo della carne, Dio, mandando il proprio Figlio in carne simile a quella del peccato e a motivo del peccato, ha condannato il peccato nella carne,

4 t hat the righteousness of the law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

affinche la giustizia della legge si adempia in noi che non camminiamo secondo la carne, ma secondo lo Spirito.

5 F or those who are according to the flesh, the things of the flesh do mind; and those according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit;

Infatti coloro che sono secondo la carne volgono la mente alle cose della carne, ma coloro che sono secondo lo Spirito alle cose dello Spirito.

6 f or the mind of the flesh death, and the mind of the Spirit -- life and peace;

Infatti la mente controllata dalla carne produce morte, ma la mente controllata dallo Spirito produce vita e pace.

7 b ecause the mind of the flesh enmity to God, for to the law of God it doth not subject itself,

Per questo la mente controllata dalla carne è inimicizia contro Dio, perché non è sottomessa alla legge di Dio e neppure può esserlo.

8 f or neither is it able; and those who are in the flesh are not able to please God.

Quindi quelli che sono nella carne non possono piacere a Dio.

9 A nd ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God doth dwell in you; and if any one hath not the Spirit of Christ -- this one is not His;

Se lo Spirito di Dio abita in voi, non siete piú nella carne ma nello Spirito. Ma se uno non ha lo Spirito di Cristo, non appartiene a lui.

10 a nd if Christ in you, the body, indeed, dead because of sin, and the Spirit life because of righteousness,

Se Cristo è in voi, certo il corpo è morto a causa del peccato, ma lo Spirito è vita a causa della giustizia.

11 a nd if the Spirit of Him who did raise up Jesus out of the dead doth dwell in you, He who did raise up the Christ out of the dead shall quicken also your dying bodies, through His Spirit dwelling in you.

E se lo Spirito di colui che ha risuscitato Gesú dai morti abita in voi, colui che risuscitò Cristo dai morti vivificherà anche i vostri corpi mortali mediante il suo Spirito che abita in voi.

12 S o, then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh;

Perciò, fratelli, noi siamo debitori non alla carne per vivere secondo la carne,

13 f or if according to the flesh ye do live, ye are about to die; and if, by the Spirit, the deeds of the body ye put to death, ye shall live;

perché se vivete secondo la carne voi morrete; ma se per mezzo dello Spirito fate morire le opere del corpo, voi vivrete.

14 f or as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God;

Poiché tutti quelli che sono condotti dallo Spirito di Dio sono figli di Dio.

15 f or ye did not receive a spirit of bondage again for fear, but ye did receive a spirit of adoption in which we cry, `Abba -- Father.'

Voi infatti non avete ricevuto uno spirito di schiavitú per cadere nuovamente nella paura, ma avete ricevuto lo Spirito di adozione per il quale gridiamo: «Abba, Padre»

16 T he Spirit himself doth testify with our spirit, that we are children of God;

Lo Spirito stesso rende testimonianza al nostro spirito che noi siamo figli di Dio.

17 a nd if children, also heirs, heirs, indeed, of God, and heirs together of Christ -- if, indeed, we suffer together, that we may also be glorified together.

E se siamo figli, siamo anche eredi, eredi di Dio e coeredi di Cristo, se pure soffriamo con lui per essere anche con lui glorificati.

18 F or I reckon that the sufferings of the present time not worthy with the glory about to be revealed in us;

Io ritengo infatti che le sofferenze del tempo presente non sono affatto da eguagliarsi alla gloria che sarà manifestata in noi.

19 f or the earnest looking out of the creation doth expect the revelation of the sons of God;

Infatti il desiderio intenso della creazione aspetta con bramosia la manifestazione dei figli di Dio,

20 f or to vanity was the creation made subject -- not of its will, but because of Him who did subject -- in hope,

perché la creazione è stata sottoposta alla vanità non di sua propria volontà, ma per colui che ve l'ha sottoposta,

21 t hat also the creation itself shall be set free from the servitude of the corruption to the liberty of the glory of the children of God;

nella speranza che la creazione stessa venga essa pure liberata dalla servitú della corruzione per entrare nella libertà della gloria dei figli di Dio.

22 f or we have known that all the creation doth groan together, and doth travail in pain together till now.

Infatti noi sappiamo che fino ad ora tutto il mondo creato geme insieme ed è in travaglio.

23 A nd not only, but also we ourselves, having the first-fruit of the Spirit, we also ourselves in ourselves do groan, adoption expecting -- the redemption of our body;

E non solo esso, ma anche noi stessi, che abbiamo le primizie dello Spirito noi stessi, dico, soffriamo in noi stessi, aspettando intensamente l'adozione, la redenzione del nostro corpo.

24 f or in hope we were saved, and hope beheld is not hope; for what any one doth behold, why also doth he hope for ?

Perché noi siamo stati salvati in speranza; or la speranza che si vede non è speranza, poiché ciò che uno vede come può sperarlo ancora?

25 a nd if what we do not behold we hope for, through continuance we expect.

Ma se speriamo ciò che non vediamo, l'aspettiamo con pazienza.

26 A nd, in like manner also, the Spirit doth help our weaknesses; for, what we may pray for, as it behoveth, we have not known, but the Spirit himself doth make intercession for us with groanings unutterable,

Nello stesso modo anche lo Spirito sovviene alle nostre debolezze, perché non sappiamo ciò che dobbiamo chiedere in preghiera, come si conviene, ma lo Spirito stesso intercede per noi con sospiri ineffabili.

27 a nd He who is searching the hearts hath known what the mind of the Spirit, because according to God he doth intercede for saints.

E colui che investiga i cuori conosce quale sia la mente dello Spirito, poiché egli intercede per i santi, secondo Dio.

28 A nd we have known that to those loving God all things do work together for good, to those who are called according to purpose;

Or noi sappiamo che tutte le cose cooperano al bene per coloro che amano Dio, i quali sono chiamati secondo il suo proponimento.

29 b ecause whom He did foreknow, He also did fore-appoint, conformed to the image of His Son, that he might be first-born among many brethren;

Poiché quelli che egli ha preconosciuti, li ha anche predestinati ad essere conformi all'immagine del suo Figlio affinché egli sia il primogenito fra molti fratelli.

30 a nd whom He did fore-appoint, these also He did call; and whom He did call, these also He declared righteous; and whom He declared righteous, these also He did glorify.

E quelli che ha predestinati, li ha pure chiamati, quelli che ha chiamati, li ha pure giustificati e quelli che ha giustificati, li ha pure glorificati.

31 W hat, then, shall we say unto these things? if God for us, who against us?

Che diremo dunque circa queste cose? Se Dio è per noi, chi sarà contro di noi?

32 H e who indeed His own Son did not spare, but for us all did deliver him up, how shall He not also with him the all things grant to us?

Certamente colui che non ha risparmiato il suo proprio Figlio, ma lo ha dato per tutti noi, come non ci donerà anche tutte le cose con lui?

33 W ho shall lay a charge against the choice ones of God? God He that is declaring righteous,

Chi accuserà gli eletti di Dio? Dio è colui che li giustifica.

34 w ho he that is condemning? Christ He that died, yea, rather also, was raised up; who is also on the right hand of God -- who also doth intercede for us.

Chi è colui che li condannerà? Cristo è colui che è morto, e inoltre è anche risuscitato; egli è alla destra di Dio, ed anche intercede per noi,

35 W ho shall separate us from the love of the Christ? tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Chi ci separerà dall'amore di Cristo? Sarà l'afflizione, o la distretta, o la persecuzione, o la fame, o la nudità, o il pericolo, o la spada?

36 ( according as it hath been written -- `For Thy sake we are put to death all the day long, we were reckoned as sheep of slaughter,')

Come sta scritto: «Per amor tuo siamo tutto il giorno messi a morte; siamo stati reputati come pecore da macello».

37 b ut in all these we more than conquer, through him who loved us;

Ma in tutte queste cose noi siamo piú che vincitori in virtú di colui che ci ha amati.

38 f or I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor messengers, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present,

Infatti io sono persuaso che né morte né vita né angeli né principati né potenze né cose presenti né cose future,

39 n or things about to be, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, that in Christ Jesus our Lord.

né altezze né profondità, né alcun'altra creatura potrà separarci dall'amore di Dio che è in Cristo Gesú, nostro Signore.
