1 A nd unto Moses He said, `Come up unto Jehovah, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and ye have bowed yourselves afar off;'

Poi Dio disse a Mosè: «Sali all'Eterno, tu ed Aaronne, Nadab e Abihu e settanta degli anziani d'Israele, e adorate da lontano;

2 a nd Moses hath drawn nigh by himself unto Jehovah; and they draw not nigh, and the people go not up with him.

poi Mosè si avvicinerà all'Eterno; ma gli altri non si avvicineranno, né salirà il popolo con lui».

3 A nd Moses cometh in, and recounteth to the people all the words of Jehovah, and all the judgments, and all the people answer -- one voice, and say, `All the words which Jehovah hath spoken we do.'

Mosè allora venne e riferì al popolo tutte le parole dell'Eterno e tutte le leggi. E tutto il popolo rispose a una sola voce e disse: «Noi faremo tutte le cose che l'Eterno ha detto».

4 A nd Moses writeth all the words of Jehovah, and riseth early in the morning, and buildeth an altar under the hill, and twelve standing pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel;

E Mosè scrisse tutte le parole dell'Eterno; poi si alzò al mattino presto ed eresse ai piedi del monte un altare e dodici colonne per le dodici tribú d'Israele.

5 a nd he sendeth the youths of the sons of Israel, and they cause burnt-offerings to ascend, and sacrifice sacrifices of peace-offerings to Jehovah -- calves.

Mandò quindi dei giovani tra i figli d'Israele a offrire olocausti e a immolare torelli come sacrifici di ringraziamento all'Eterno.

6 A nd Moses taketh half of the blood, and putteth in basins, and half of the blood hath he sprinkled on the altar;

E Mosè prese la metà del sangue e lo mise in catini; e l'altra metà del sangue la sparse sull'altare.

7 a nd he taketh the Book of the Covenant, and proclaimeth in the ears of the people, and they say, `All that which Jehovah hath spoken we do, and obey.'

poi prese il libro del patto e lo lesse al popolo il quale disse: «Noi faremo tutto ciò che l'Eterno ha detto, e ubbidiremo».

8 A nd Moses taketh the blood, and sprinkleth on the people, and saith, `Lo, the blood of the covenant which Jehovah hath made with you, concerning all these things.'

Mosè prese quindi il sangue, ne asperse il popolo e disse: «Ecco il sangue del patto che l'Eterno ha fatto con voi secondo tutte queste parole».

9 A nd Moses goeth up, Aaron also, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel,

Poi Mosè ed Aaronne, Nadab e Abihu e settanta degli anziani d'Israele salirono,

10 a nd they see the God of Israel, and under His feet as the white work of the sapphire, and as the substance of the heavens for purity;

e videro il DIO d'Israele. Sotto i suoi piedi c'era come un pavimento lavorato di zaffiro, della chiarezza del cielo stesso.

11 a nd unto those of the sons of Israel who are near He hath not put forth His hand, and they see God, and eat and drink.

Ma egli non stese la sua mano contro i capi dei figli d'Israele; ed essi videro DIO, e mangiarono e bevvero.

12 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Come up unto Me to the mount, and be there, and I give to thee the tables of stone, and the law, and the command, which I have written to direct them.'

Poi l'Eterno disse a Mosè: «Sali da me sul monte e rimani là; e io ti darò delle tavole di pietra, la legge e i comandamenti che ho scritti, perché tu li insegni loro».

13 A nd Moses riseth -- Joshua his minister also -- and Moses goeth up unto the mount of God;

Mosè dunque si levò con Giosuè suo ministro; e Mosè salì sul monte di DIO.

14 a nd unto the elders he hath said, `Abide ye for us in this, until that we turn back unto you, and lo, Aaron and Hur with you -- he who hath matters doth come nigh unto them.'

Ma agli anziani disse: «Aspettateci qui, finché ritorneremo da voi. Ecco, Aaronne e Hur sono con voi; chiunque ha problemi si rivolga a loro».

15 A nd Moses goeth up unto the mount, and the cloud covereth the mount;

Mosè dunque salì sul monte e la nuvola ricoperse il monte.

16 a nd the honour of Jehovah doth tabernacle on mount Sinai, and the cloud covereth it six days, and He calleth unto Moses on the seventh day from the midst of the cloud.

Ora la gloria dell'Eterno rimase sul monte Sinai e la nuvola lo coperse per sei giorni; il settimo giorno l'Eterno chiamò Mosè di mezzo alla nuvola.

17 A nd the appearance of the honour of Jehovah as a consuming fire on the top of the mount, before the eyes of the sons of Israel;

E l'aspetto della gloria dell'Eterno era agli occhi dei figli d'Israele come un fuoco consumante sulla cima del monte.

18 a nd Moses goeth into the midst of the cloud, and goeth up unto the mount, and Moses is on the mount forty days and forty nights.

Così Mosè entrò in mezzo alla nuvola e salì sul monte; e Mosè rimase sul monte quaranta giorni e quaranta notti.
