1 A Song, a Psalm of David. Prepared is my heart, O God, I sing, yea, I sing praise, also my honour.

«Cantico. Salmo di Davide.» Il mio cuore è ben disposto, o DIO, io canterò e celebrerò le tue lodi con tutta la mia forza.

2 A wake, psaltery and harp, I awake the dawn.

Destatevi, arpa e cetra, io voglio risvegliare l'alba.

3 I thank Thee among peoples, O Jehovah, And I praise Thee among the nations.

Io ti celebrerò fra i popoli, o Eterno, e canterò le tue lodi fra le nazioni.

4 F or great above the heavens Thy kindness, And unto the clouds Thy truth.

Poiché la tua benignità è grande, giunge al di sopra dei cieli, e la tua verità fino alle nuvole.

5 B e Thou exalted above the heavens, O God, And above all the earth Thy honour.

Sii esaltato, o DIO, al di sopra dei cieli, e risplenda la tua gloria su tutta la terra,

6 T hat Thy beloved ones may be delivered, Save Thy right hand, and answer us.

affinché i tuoi diletti siano liberati; salvami con la tua destra e rispondimi.

7 G od hath spoken in His holiness: I exult, I apportion Shechem, And the valley of Succoth I measure,

DIO ha parlato nella sua SANTITA': «trionferò, spartirò Sichem e misurerò la valle di Sukkoth.

8 M ine Gilead, mine Manasseh, And Ephraim the strength of my head, Judah my lawgiver,

Mio è Galaad, mio è Manasse, Efraim è la forza del mio capo, Giuda è il mio legislatore;

9 M oab a pot for my washing, Upon Edom I cast my shoe, Over Philistia I shout habitually.

Moab è il catino dove mi lavo; su Edom getterò i mio sandalo; sulla Filistia manderò grida di trionfo».

10 W ho doth bring me in to the fenced city? Who hath led me unto Edom?

Chi mi porterà nella città forte? Chi mi condurrà fino a Edom?

11 H ast not Thou, O God, cast us off? And Thou goest not out, O God, with our hosts!

Non sei tu, o DIO, che ci hai respinti, e non esci piú, o DIO, coi nostri eserciti?

12 G ive to us help from adversity, And vain is the salvation of man.

Dacci tu aiuto contro l'avversario, perché vano è il soccorso dell'uomo.

13 I n God we do mightily, And He doth tread down our adversaries!

Con DIO noi faremo prodezze, e sarà lui a schiacciare i nostri nemici.
