1 A nd at Solomon's finishing to pray, then the fire hath come down from the heavens, and consumeth the burnt-offering and the sacrifices, and the honour of Jehovah hath filled the house,

Quando Salomone ebbe finito di pregare, dal cielo cadde un fuoco che consumò l'olocausto e i sacrifici e la gloria dell'Eterno riempí il tempio.

2 a nd the priests have not been able to go in unto the house of Jehovah, because the honour of Jehovah hath filled the house of Jehovah.

I sacerdoti non potevano entrare nella casa dell'Eterno, perché la gloria dell'Eterno riempiva la casa dell'Eterno.

3 A nd all the sons of Israel are looking on the descending of the fire, and the honour of Jehovah on the house, and they bow -- faces to the earth -- on the pavement, and do obeisance, and give thanks to Jehovah, for good, for to the age His kindness.

Tutti i figli d'Israele, quando videro il fuoco scendere e la gloria dell'Eterno posarsi sul tempio, si prostrarono con la faccia a terra sul pavimento adorarono e lodarono l'Eterno, «perché è buono, perché la sua benignità dura in eterno».

4 A nd the king and all the people are sacrificing a sacrifice before Jehovah,

Poi il re e tutto il popolo offrirono sacrifici davanti all'Eterno.

5 a nd king Solomon sacrificeth the sacrifice of the herd, twenty and two thousand, and of the flock, a hundred and twenty thousand, and the king and all the people dedicate the house of God.

il re Salomone offrí in sacrificio ventiduemila buoi e centoventimila pecore. Cosí il re e tutto il popolo dedicarono la casa di DIO.

6 A nd the priests over their charges are standing, and the Levites with instruments of the song of Jehovah -- that David the king made, to give thanks to Jehovah, for to the age His kindness, in David's praising by their hand -- and the priests are blowing trumpets over-against them, and all Israel are standing.

I sacerdoti attendevano alle loro mansioni: cosí pure i Leviti con gli strumenti musicali consacrati all'Eterno, che il re Davide aveva fatto per lodare l'Eterno, «perché la sua benignità dura in eterno», ogni volta che Davide lodava per mezzo di essi. I sacerdoti suonavano le trombe di fronte a loro, mentre tutto Israele stava in piedi.

7 A nd Solomon sanctifieth the middle of the court that before the house of Jehovah, for he hath made there the burnt-offerings, and the fat of the peace-offerings: for the altar of brass that Solomon made hath not been able to contain the burnt-offering, and the present, and the fat.

Salomone consacrò la parte centrale del cortile che era di fronte alla casa dell'Eterno; là infatti offrí gli olocausti e il grasso dei sacrifici di ringraziamento, perché l'altare di bronzo che Salomone aveva fatto non poteva contenere gli olocausti, le oblazioni di cibo e il grasso.

8 A nd solomon maketh the feast at that time seven days, and all Israel with him -- a very great assembly -- from the entering in of Hamath unto the brook of Egypt.

In quel tempo Salomone celebrò la festa per sette giorni, e tutto Israele con lui. A lui si uní una grandissima assemblea di gente, venuta dai dintorni di Hamath fino al torrente d'Egitto.

9 A nd they make on the eighth day a restraint, because the dedication of the altar they have made seven days, and the feast seven days.

L'ottavo giorno fecero una riunione solenne, perché avevano celebrato la dedicazione dell'altare per sette giorni, e la festa per altri sette giorni.

10 A nd on the twenty and third day of the seventh month he hath sent the people to their tents, rejoicing, and glad in heart, for the goodness that Jehovah hath done to David, and to Solomon, and to Israel His people.

Nel ventitreesimo giorno del settimo mese egli rimandò alle sue tende il popolo allegro e con la gioia nel cuore per il bene che l'Eterno aveva fatto a Davide, a Salomone e a Israele, suo popolo

11 A nd Solomon finisheth the house of Jehovah, and the house of the king; and all that hath come on the heart of Solomon to do in the house of Jehovah, and in his own house, he hath caused to prosper.

Cosí Salomone ultimò la casa dell'Eterno e la reggia e riuscí a portare a termine tutto ciò che aveva in cuore di fare nella casa dell'Eterno e nella sua propria casa.

12 A nd Jehovah appeareth unto Solomon by night, and saith to him, `I have heard thy prayer, and have fixed on this place to Me for a house of sacrifice.

Poi l'Eterno apparve di notte a Salomone e gli disse: «Ho esaudito la tua preghiera e ho scelto questo luogo per me come casa di sacrifici.

13 I f I restrain the heavens and there is no rain, and if I lay charge on the locust to consume the land, and if I send pestilence among My people --

Quando chiuderò il cielo e non ci sarà piú pioggia, quando ordinerò alle locuste di divorare il paese quando manderò la peste al mio popolo,

14 a nd My people on whom My name is called be humbled, and pray, and seek My face, and turn back from their evil ways, then I -- I hear from the heavens, and forgive their sin, and heal their land.

se il mio popolo, sul quale è invocato il mio nome, si umilia, prega, cerca la mia faccia e torna indietro dalle sue vie malvagie, io ascolterò dal ciclo, perdonerò il suo peccato e guarirò il suo paese.

15 ` Now, Mine eyes are open, and Mine ears attentive, to the prayer of this place;

Ora i miei occhi saranno aperti e le mie orecchie attente alla preghiera fatta in questo luogo.

16 a nd now, I have chosen and sanctified this house for My name being there unto the age; yea, Mine eyes and My heart have been there all the days.

perché ora ho scelto e santificato questo tempio, affinché il mio nome vi rimanga per sempre; i miei occhi e il mio cuore saranno sempre lí.

17 ` And thou, if thou dost walk before Me as David thy father walked, even to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and My statutes and My judgments dost keep --

Quanto a te, se camminerai davanti a me come ha camminato Davide tuo padre, facendo tutto ciò che ti ho comandato, e se osserverai i miei statuti e i miei decreti,

18 t hen I have established the throne of thy kingdom, as I covenanted with David thy father, saying, There is not cut off a man to thee -- a ruler in Israel;

renderò stabile il trono del tuo regno, come ho pattuito con Davide tuo padre, dicendo: "Non ti mancherà mai qualcuno che regni su Israele".

19 a nd if ye turn back -- ye -- and have forsaken My statutes, and My commands, that I have placed before you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them -- then I have plucked them from off My ground that I have given to them,

Ma se vi volgerete altrove e abbandonerete i miei statuti e i miei comandamenti che vi ho posto davanti e andrete a servire altri dèi e a prostrarvi davanti a loro,

20 a nd this house that I have sanctified for My name, I cast from before My face, and make it for a proverb, and for a byword, among all the peoples.

vi sradicherò dal mio paese che vi ho dato e rigetterò dalla mia presenza questo tempio che ho consacrato al mio nome, e lo renderò la favola e lo zimbello fra tutti i popoli.

21 ` And this house that hath been high, to every one passing by it, is an astonishment, and he hath said, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus to this land, and to this house?

Chiunque passerà vicino a questo tempio, pur cosí imponente, stupirà e dirà: "Perché l'Eterno ha trattato cosí questo paese e questo tempio?".

22 a nd they have said, Because that they have forsaken Jehovah, God of their fathers, who brought them out from the land of Egypt, and lay hold on other gods, and bow themselves to them, and serve them, therefore He hath brought upon them all this evil.'

Allora gli risponderanno: "Perché hanno abbandonato l'Eterno, il DIO dei loro padri che li fece uscire dal paese d'Egitto, hanno aderito ad altri dèi, si sono prostrati davanti a loro e li hanno serviti, per questo l'Eterno ha fatto venire su di loro tutta questa calamità"».
