1 A nd taken hold have seven women on one man, In that day, saying, `Our own bread we do eat, And our own raiment we put on, Only, let thy name be called over us, Remove thou our reproach.'

In quel giorno sette donne afferreranno un uomo e diranno: «Noi mangeremo il nostro pane e ci vestiremo delle nostre vesti; soltanto, lasciaci portare il tuo nome, per togliere la nostra vergogna».

2 I n that day is the Shoot of Jehovah for desire and for honour, And the fruit of the earth For excellence and for beauty to the escaped of Israel.

In quel giorno il germoglio, dell'Eterno sarà tutto splendore e gloria, e il frutto della terra sarà l'orgoglio e l'ornamento per gli scampati d'Israele.

3 A nd it hath been, he who is left in Zion, And he who is remaining in Jerusalem, `Holy' is said of him, Of every one who is written for life in Jerusalem.

Ed avverrà che chi sarà rimasto in Sion e chi sarà superstite in Gerusalemme, sarà chiamato santo, cioè chiunque in Gerusalemme sarà iscritto tra i vivi.

4 I f the Lord hath washed away The filth of daughters of Zion, And the blood of Jerusalem purgeth from her midst, By the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.

Quando il Signore avrà lavato le brutture delle figlie di Sion e avrà eliminato il sangue dal mezzo di Gerusalemme col soffio di giudizio e col soffio di sterminio,

5 T hen hath Jehovah prepared Over every fixed place of Mount Zion, And over her convocations, A cloud by day, and smoke, And the shining of a flaming fire by night, That, over all honour a safe-guard,

allora l'Eterno creerà su ogni dimora del monte Sion e sulle sue assemblee una nuvola di fumo durante il giorno, e uno splendore di fuoco fiammeggiante durante la notte, perché su tutta la gloria vi sarà una protezione.

6 A nd a covering may be, For a shadow by day from drought, And for a refuge, and for a hiding place, From inundation and from rain!

E vi sarà una tenda per far ombra contro il caldo di giorno, e per servire di rifugio e di asilo contro la tempesta e la pioggia.
