1 A nd a rod hath come out from the stock of Jesse, And a branch from his roots is fruitful.

Poi un ramoscello uscirà dal tronco di Isai e un germoglio spunterà dalle sue radici.

2 R ested on him hath the Spirit of Jehovah, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and might, The spirit of knowledge and fear of Jehovah.

Lo Spirito dell'Eterno riposerà su lui: spirito di sapienza e d'intelligenza, spirito di consiglio e di potenza, spirito di conoscenza e di timore dell'Eterno.

3 T o refresh him in the fear of Jehovah, And by the sight of his eyes he judgeth not, Nor by the hearing of his ears decideth.

Il suo diletto sarà nel timore dell'Eterno, non giudicherà secondo le apparenze, non darà sentenze per sentito di re,

4 A nd he hath judged in righteousness the poor, And decided in uprightness for the humble of earth, And hath smitten earth with the rod of his mouth, And with the breath of his lips he putteth the wicked to death.

ma giudicherà i poveri con giustizia e farà decisioni eque per gli umili del paese. Colpirà il paese con la verga della sua bocca e col soffio delle sue labbra farà morire l'empio.

5 A nd righteousness hath been the girdle of his loins, And faithfulness -- the girdle of his reins.

La giustizia sarà la cintura dei suoi lombi, e la fedeltà la cintura dei suoi fianchi.

6 A nd a wolf hath sojourned with a lamb, And a leopard with a kid doth lie down, And calf, and young lion, and fatling together, And a little youth is leader over them.

Il lupo abiterà con l'agnello e il leopardo giacerà col capretto; il vitello, il leoncello e il bestiame ingrassato, staranno insieme e un bambino li guiderà.

7 A nd cow and bear do feed, Together lie down their young ones, And a lion as an ox eateth straw.

La vacca pascolerà con l'orsa, i loro piccoli giaceranno insieme, e il leone si nutrirà di paglia come il bue.

8 A nd played hath a suckling by the hole of an asp, And on the den of a cockatrice Hath the weaned one put his hand.

Il lattante giocherà sulla buca dell'aspide, e il bambino divezzato metterà la sua mano nel covo della vipera.

9 E vil they do not, nor destroy in all My holy mountain, For full hath been the earth with the knowledge of Jehovah, As the waters are covering the sea.

Non si farà né male né distruzione su tutto il mio monte santo, poiché il paese sarà ripieno della conoscenza dell'Eterno, come le acque ricoprono il mare.

10 A nd there hath been, in that day, A root of Jesse that is standing for an ensign of peoples, Unto him do nations seek, And his rest hath been -- honour!

In quel giorno avverrà che la radice di Isai si ergerà come una bandiera per i popoli; le nazioni lo cercheranno, e il luogo del suo riposo, sarà glorioso.

11 A nd it hath come to pass, in that day, The Lord addeth a second time his power, To get the remnant of His people that is left, From Asshur, and from Egypt, And from Pathros, and from Cush, And from Elam, and from Shinar, And from Hamath, and from isles of the sea,

In quel giorno avverrà che il Signore stenderà la sua mano una seconda volta per riscattare il residuo del suo popolo superstite dall'Assiria e dall'Egitto, da Pathros e dall'Etiopia, da Elam, da Scinar e da Hamath e dalle isole del mare.

12 A nd He hath lifted up an ensign to nations, And gathereth the driven away of Israel, And the scattered of Judah He assembleth, From the four wings of the earth.

Egli alzerà il vessillo per le nazioni, raccoglierà gli espulsi d'Israele e radunerà i dispersi di Giuda dai quattro angoli della terra.

13 A nd turned aside hath the envy of Ephraim, And the adversaries of Judah are cut off, Ephraim doth not envy Judah, And Judah doth not distress Ephraim.

La gelosia di Efraim scomparirà e gli avversari di Giuda saranno annientati; Efraim non invidierà piú Giuda e Giuda non sarà piú ostile ad Efraim.

14 A nd they have flown on the shoulder of the Philistines westward, Together they spoil the sons of the east, Edom and Moab sending forth their hand, And sons of Ammon obeying them.

Essi piomberanno a volo sulle spalle dei Filistei verso occidente, insieme saccheggeranno i figli dell'oriente; metteranno le loro mani su Edom, e su Moab, e i figli di Ammon saranno loro sudditi.

15 A nd Jehovah hath devoted to destruction The tongue of the sea of Egypt, And hath waved His hand over the river, In the terror of his wind, And hath smitten it at the seven streams, And hath caused to tread with shoes.

L'Eterno distruggerà interamente la lingua del mare d'Egitto, e con la potenza del suo soffio agiterà la sua mano sul fiume e lo colpirà dividendolo in sette canali, cosí da poterlo attraversare con i sandali.

16 A nd there hath been a highway, For the remnant of His people that is left, from Asshur, As there was for Israel in the day of his coming up out of the land of Egypt!

Vi sarà una strada per il residuo del suo popolo rimasto in Assiria, come ce ne fu una per Israele il giorno che uscí dal paese d'Egitto.
