1 I n the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, come hath Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his force unto Jerusalem, and they lay siege against it;

2 i n the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, in the ninth of the month, hath the city been broken up;

3 a nd come in do all the heads of the king of Babylon, and they sit at the middle gate, Nergal-Sharezer, Samgar-Nebo, Sarsechim, chief of the eunuchs, Nergal-Sharezer, chief of the Mages, and all the rest of the heads of the king of Babylon.

tutti i principi del re di Babilonia entrarono e si stabilirono alla Porta di Mezzo: Nergalsharetser, Samgar-nebo, Sarsekim, capo degli eunuchi, Nergalsharetser, Rab-mag e tutti gli altri principi del re di Babilonia.

4 A nd it cometh to pass, when Zedekiah king of Judah, and all the men of war, have seen them, that they flee and go forth by night from the city, the way of the king's garden, through the gate between the two walls, and he goeth forth the way of the plain.

Appena Sedekia, re di Giuda, e tutti gli uomini di guerra li videro, fuggirono, uscendo di notte dalla città per la via del giardino reale, attraverso la porta fra le due mura, e presero la via dell'Arabah.

5 A nd the forces of the Chaldeans pursue after them, and overtake Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho, and they take him, and bring him up unto Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, to Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he speaketh with him -- judgments.

Ma l'esercito dei Caldei li inseguí e raggiunse Sedekia nelle pianure di Gerico. Cosí lo presero e lo condussero da Nebukadnetsar, re di Babilonia, a Riblah nel paese di Hamath, dove pronunciò il giudizio su di lui.

6 A nd the king of Babylon slaughtereth the sons of Zedekiah, in Riblah, before his eyes, yea, all the freemen of Judah hath the king of Babylon slaughtered.

Poi il re di Babilonia fece uccidere i figli di Sedekia sotto i suoi occhi a Riblah; il re di Babilonia fece pure uccidere tutti i nobili di Giuda;

7 A nd the eyes of Zedekiah he hath blinded, and he bindeth him with brazen fetters, to bring him in to Babylon.

fece inoltre cavare gli occhi a Sedekia e lo fece legare con una doppia catena di bronzo per condurlo a Babilonia.

8 A nd the house of the king, and the house of the people, have the Chaldeans burnt with fire, and the walls of Jerusalem they have broken down.

I Caldei diedero alle fiamme la casa del re e le case del popolo, e demolirono le mura di Gerusalemme.

9 A nd the remnant of the people who are left in the city, and those falling who have fallen to him, and the remnant of the people who are left, hath Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, removed Babylon.

Poi Nebuzaradan, capo delle guardie, condusse in cattività a Babilonia il residuo del popolo che era rimasto in città e quelli che avevano disertato dalla sua parte assieme al resto del popolo rimasto.

10 A nd of the poor people, who have nothing, hath Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, left in the land of Judah, and he giveth to them vineyards and fields on the same day.

Ma Nebuzaradan, capo delle guardie, lasciò nel paese di Giuda i piú poveri del popolo che non avevano nulla, assegnando loro in quel tempo vigne e campi.

11 A nd Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon giveth a charge concerning Jeremiah, by the hand of Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, saying,

Ma riguardo a Geremia, Nebukadnetsar re di Babilonia, aveva dato quest'ordine a Nebuzaradan, capo delle guardie, dicendo:

12 ` Take him, and place thine eyes upon him, and do no evil thing to him, but as he speaketh unto thee, so do with him.'

«Prendilo, tieni i tuoi occhi su di lui e non fargli alcun male, ma comportati con lui come egli ti dirà».

13 A nd Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners sendeth, and Nebushazban, chief of the eunuchs, and Nergal-Sharezer, chief of the Mages, and all the chiefs of the king of Babylon;

Cosí Nebuzaradan, capo delle guardie Nebushazban, capo degli eunuchi, Nergalsharetser, Rab-mag e tutti gli altri ufficiali del re di Babilonia,

14 y ea, they send and take Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and give him unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, to carry him home, and he dwelleth in the midst of the people.

mandarono a prendere Geremia dal cortile della prigione e lo consegnarono a Ghedaliah figlio di Ahikam, figlio di Shafan, perché lo conducesse a casa. Cosí egli abitò in mezzo al popolo.

15 A nd unto Jeremiah hath a word of Jehovah been -- in his being detained in the court of the prison -- saying:

16 ` Go, and thou hast spoken to Ebed-Melech the Cushite, saying: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am bringing in My words unto this city for evil, and not for good, and they have been before thee in that day.

«Va' e parla a Ebed-melek l'Etiope, dicendo: Cosí dice l'Eterno degli eserciti, il DIO d'Israele: Ecco, io porto a compimento su questa città le mie parole per sua rovina e non per suo bene, e in quel giorno esse si avvereranno davanti a te.

17 A nd I have delivered thee in that day -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- and thou art not given into the hand of the men of whose face thou art afraid,

Ma in quel giorno io ti libererò, dice l'Eterno, e non sarai dato in mano degli uomini che temi.

18 f or I do certainly deliver thee, and by sword thou fallest not, and thy life hath been to thee for a spoil, for thou hast trusted in Me -- an affirmation of Jehovah.'

Sí, io ti libererò certamente e non cadrai di spada, ma la tua vita sarà per te come il tuo bottino, perché hai posto in me la tua fiducia, dice l'Eterno».
