1 A nd the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and Jehovah giveth them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.

I figli d'Israele tornarono di nuovo a fare ciò che era male agli occhi dell'Eterno, e l'Eterno li diede nelle mani dei Filistei per quarant'anni.

2 A nd there is a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danite, and his name Manoah, his wife barren, and hath not borne;

Or vi era un uomo di Tsorah della famiglia dei Daniti, chiamato Manoah; sua moglie era sterile e non aveva figli.

3 a nd a messenger of Jehovah appeareth unto the woman, and saith unto her, `Lo, I pray thee, thou barren, and hast not borne; when thou hast conceived, then thou hast borne a son.

L'Angelo dell'Eterno apparve a questa donna, e le disse: «Ecco, tu sei sterile e non hai figli, ma concepirai e partorirai un figlio.

4 A nd, now, take heed, I pray thee, and do not drink wine, and strong drink, and do not eat any unclean thing,

Perciò ora guardati dal bere vino o bevanda inebriante, e dal mangiare alcuna cosa impura.

5 f or, lo, thou art conceiving and bearing a son, and a razor doth not go up on his head, for a Nazarite to God is the youth from the womb, and he doth begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.'

Poiché ecco, tu concepirai e partorirai un figlio, sulla cui testa non passerà rasoio, perché il fanciullo sarà un Nazireo a DIO dal seno di sua madre; egli comincerà a liberare Israele dalle mani dei Filistei».

6 A nd the woman cometh and speaketh to her husband, saying, `A man of God hath come unto me, and his appearance as the appearance of a messenger of God, very fearful, and I have not asked him whence he, and his name he hath not declared to me;

Allora la donna andò a dire a suo marito: un uomo di DIO è venuto da me; il suo aspetto era come l'aspetto dell'Angelo di Dio, veramente spaventevole. lo non gli ho domandato da dove veniva, ed egli non mi ha detto il suo nome;

7 a nd he saith to me, Lo, thou art pregnant, and bearing a son, and now do not drink wine and strong drink, and do not eat any unclean thing, for a Nazarite to God is the youth from the womb till the day of his death.'

ma mi ha detto: "Ecco, tu concepirai e partorirai un figlio; perciò ora non bere vino né bevanda inebriante, e non mangiare alcuna cosa impura, perché il fanciullo sarà un Nazireo a DIO dal seno di sua madre fino al giorno della sua morte"».

8 A nd Manoah maketh entreaty unto Jehovah, and saith, `O, my Lord, the man of God whom Thou didst send, let him come in, I pray thee, again unto us, and direct us what we do to the youth who is born.'

Allora Manoah supplicò l'Eterno e disse: «O Signore, ti prego che l'uomo di DIO da te mandato torni di nuovo a noi e c'insegni ciò che dobbiamo fare per il bambino che nascerà».

9 A nd God hearkeneth to the voice of Manoah, and the messenger of God cometh again unto the woman, and she sitting in a field, and Manoah her husband is not with her,

DIO diede ascolto alla voce di Manoah; e l'Angelo di DIO tornò ancora dalla donna, mentre si trovava nel campo; ma suo marito Manoah non era con lei.

10 a nd the woman hasteth, and runneth, and declareth to her husband, and saith unto him, `Lo, he hath appeared unto me -- the man who came on day unto me.'

La donna corse in fretta a informare suo marito e gli disse: «Ecco, mi è apparso quell'uomo, che venne da me l'altro giorno».

11 A nd Manoah riseth, and goeth after his wife, and cometh unto the man, and saith to him, `Art thou the man who spake unto the woman?' and he saith, `I.'

Allora Manoah si alzò e seguì sua moglie e, giunto da quell'uomo, gli disse: «Sei tu l'uomo che parlasti a questa donna?». Egli rispose: «Sono io».

12 A nd Manoah saith, `Now let thy words come to pass; what is the custom of the youth -- and his work?'

Ma Manoah disse: «Quando la tua parola si compirà, quale deve essere lo stile di vita del ragazzo e quali le sue occupazioni?».

13 A nd the messenger of Jehovah saith unto Manoah, `Of all that I said unto the woman let her take heed;

L'Angelo dell'Eterno rispose a Manoah: «La donna presti attenzione a tutto ciò che le ho detto.

14 o f anything which cometh out from the wine-vine she doth not eat, and wine and strong drink she doth not drink, and any unclean thing she doth not eat; all that I have commanded her she doth observe.'

Non mangi di alcun prodotto della vite, né beva vino o bevanda inebriante, e non mangi alcuna cosa impura; osservi tutto ciò che le ho comandato».

15 A nd Manoah saith unto the messenger of Jehovah, `Let us detain thee, we pray thee, and prepare before thee a kid of the goats.'

Allora Manoah disse all'Angelo dell'Eterno: «Deh, permettici di trattenerti e di prepararti un capretto!».

16 A nd the messenger of Jehovah saith unto Manoah, `If thou detain me -- I do not eat of thy bread; and if thou prepare a burnt-offering -- to Jehovah thou dost offer it;' for Manoah hath not known that He a messenger of Jehovah.

L'Angelo dell'Eterno rispose a Manoah: «Anche se tu mi trattieni non mangerò del tuo cibo; ma se vuoi fare un olocausto, offrilo all'Eterno». (Or Manoah non sapeva che quello era l'Angelo dell'Eterno).

17 A nd Manoah saith unto the messenger of Jehovah, `What thy name? when thy words come to pass, then we have honoured thee.'

Poi Manoah disse all'Angelo dell'Eterno: «Qual è il tuo nome affinché, quando si avvereranno le tue parole, noi ti possiamo onorare?».

18 A nd the messenger of Jehovah saith to him, `Why this -- thou dost ask for My name? -- and it Wonderful.'

L'Angelo dell'Eterno gli rispose: «Perché mai chiedi il mio nome? Esso è meraviglioso».

19 A nd Manoah taketh the kid of the goats, and the present, and offereth on the rock to Jehovah, and He is doing wonderfully, and Manoah and his wife are looking on,

Così Manoah prese il capretto e l'oblazione di cibo e li offrì all'Eterno sul sasso. Allora l'Angelo compì una cosa prodigiosa, mentre Manoah e sua moglie stavano guardando:

20 a nd it cometh to pass, in the going up of the flame from off the altar toward the heavens, that the messenger of Jehovah goeth up in the flame of the altar, and Manoah and his wife are looking on, and they fall on their faces to the earth,

come la fiamma saliva dall'altare al cielo, l'Angelo dell'Eterno salì con la fiamma dell'altare. Al vedere questo, Manoah e sua moglie caddero con la faccia a terra.

21 a nd the messenger of Jehovah hath not added again to appear unto Manoah, and unto his wife, then hath Manoah known that He a messenger of Jehovah.

L'Angelo dell'Eterno non apparve piú né a Manoah né a sua moglie. Allora Manoah si rese conto che quello era l'Angelo dell'Eterno.

22 A nd Manoah saith unto his wife, `We certainly die, for we have seen God.'

Manoah disse quindi a sua moglie: «Noi moriremo certamente, perché abbiamo visto DIO».

23 A nd his wife saith to him, `If Jehovah were desirous to put us to death, He had not received from our hands burnt-offering and present, nor shewed us all these things, nor as time caused us to hear like this.'

Ma sua moglie gli disse: «Se l'Eterno avesse voluto farci morire, non avrebbe accettato dalle nostre mani l'olocausto e l'oblazione di cibo né ci avrebbe mostrato tutte queste cose, ed ora non ci avrebbe fatto udire cose come queste».

24 A nd the woman beareth a son, and calleth his name Samson, and the youth groweth, and Jehovah doth bless him,

Poi la donna partorì un figlio a cui pose nome Sansone. Il bambino crebbe, e l'Eterno lo benedisse.

25 a nd the Spirit of Jehovah beginneth to move him in the camp of Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

Lo Spirito dell'Eterno cominciò a muoversi su di lui al campo di Dan, fra Tsorah e Eshtaol.
