1 A nd lift me up doth a spirit, and it bringeth me in unto the east gate of the house of Jehovah, that is facing the east, and lo, at the opening of the gate twenty and five men, and I see in their midst Jaazaniah son of Azzur, and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, heads of the people.

Poi lo Spirito mi sollevò e mi trasportò alla porta orientale della casa dell'Eterno che guarda a est; ed ecco, all'Ingresso della porta c'Erano venticinque uomini, tra i quali vidi Jaazaniah, figlio di Azzur, e Pelatiah, figlio di Benaiah, capi del popolo.

2 A nd He saith unto me, `Son of man, these the men who are devising iniquity, and who are giving evil counsel in this city;

Egli mi disse: «figlio d'uomo, questi sono gli uomini che tramano il male e danno cattivi consigli in questa città.

3 w ho are saying, It not near -- to build houses, it the pot, and we the flesh.

Essi dicono: "Il tempo non è vicino. Edifichiamo case! Questa città è la pentola e noi siamo la carne".

4 T herefore prophesy concerning them, prophesy, son of man.'

Perciò profetizza contro di loro, profetizza, figlio d'uomo».

5 A nd fall upon me doth the Spirit of Jehovah, and He saith unto me, `Say: Thus said Jehovah: Rightly ye have said, O house of Israel, And the steps of your spirit I have known.

Quindi lo Spirito dell'Eterno cadde su di me e mi disse: «Di Cosí dice l'Eterno: Voi dite cosí, o casa d'Israele, e io conosco le cose che vi passano per la mente.

6 Y e multiplied your wounded in this city, And filled its out-places with the wounded.

Voi avete moltiplicato quelli da voi trafitti a morte in questa città e avete riempito di uccisi le sue strade».

7 T herefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Your wounded whom ye placed in its midst, They the flesh, and it the pot, And you he hath brought out from its midst.

Perciò cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: «I vostri uccisi che avete ammucchiato in mezzo ad essa sono la carne e questa città è la pentola, ma io vi farò uscire dal suo mezzo.

8 A sword ye have feared, And a sword I bring in against you, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

Voi avete paura della spada, e io farò venire su di voi la spada», dice il Signore, l'Eterno.

9 A nd I have brought you out of its midst, And given you into the hand of strangers, And I have done among you judgments.

«Io vi farò uscire dal suo mezzo, vi darò in mano di stranieri ed eseguirò su di voi i miei giudizi.

10 B y the sword ye do fall, On the border of Israel I do judge you, And ye have known that I Jehovah.

Voi cadrete di spada, vi giudicherò sui confini d'Israele; allora riconoscerete, che io sono l'Eterno.

11 I t is not to you for a pot, Nor are ye in its midst for flesh, At the border of Israel I do judge you.

Questa città non sarà per voi una pentola e voi non sarete la carne nel suo mezzo; io vi giudicherò sui confini d'Israele.

12 A nd ye have known that I Jehovah, For in My statutes ye have not walked, And My Judgments ye have not done, And according to the judgments of the nations Who are round about you -- ye have done!'

Allora riconoscerete che io sono l'Eterno, perché non avete camminato nei miei statuti né avete eseguito le mie leggi, ma avete agito secondo le leggi delle nazioni che vi circondano».

13 A nd it cometh to pass, at my prophesying, that Pelatiah son of Benaiah is dying, and I fall on my face, and cry -- a loud voice -- and say, `Ah, Lord Jehovah, an end Thou art making of the remnant of Israel.'

Or avvenne che, mentre io profetizzavo, Pelatiah, figlio di Benaiah, morí. Allora mi gettai con la faccia a terra e gridai ad alta voce, dicendo: «Ah, Signore, Eterno, vuoi distruggere completamente il residuo d'Israele?».

14 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

Allora la parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta, dicendo:

15 ` Son of man, thy brethren, thy brethren, men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel -- all of it, they to whom inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Keep far off from Jehovah;

«Figlio d'uomo, i tuoi fratelli, i tuoi stessi parenti, quelli con te redenti e tutta la casa d'Israele sono coloro ai quali gli abitanti di Gerusalemme hanno detto: Allontanatevi pure dall'Eterno; questo paese ci è stato dato in eredità.

16 i t ours, the land hath been given for an inheritance; therefore say: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because I put them afar off among nations, And because I scattered them through lands, I also am to them for a little sanctuary, In lands whither they have gone in.

Perciò di Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Benché io li abbia allontanati fra le nazioni e li abbia dispersi in paesi stranieri, io sarò per loro per un po' di tempo un santuario nei paesi dove sono andati.

17 T herefore say: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: And I have assembled you from the peoples, And I have gathered you from the lands, Into which ye have been scattered, And I have given to you the ground of Israel.

Perciò di Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Vi raccoglierò fra i popoli, vi radunerò dai paesi in cui siete stati dispersi e vi darò la terra d'Israele.

18 A nd they have gone in thither. And turned aside all its detestable things, And all its abominations -- out of it.

Essi vi ritorneranno e toglieranno via tutte le sue cose esecrande e tutte le sue abominazioni.

19 A nd I have given to them one heart, And a new spirit I do give in your midst, And I have turned the heart of stone out of their flesh, And I have given to them a heart of flesh.

E io darò loro un altro cuore e metterò dentro di loro un nuovo spirito toglierò via dalla loro carne il cuore di pietra e darò loro un cuore di carne,

20 S o that in My statutes they walk, And My judgments they keep, and have done them, And they have been to me for a people, And I am to them for God.

perché camminino nei miei statuti e osservino le mie leggi e le mettano in pratica; allora essi saranno il mio popolo e io sarò il loro DIO.

21 A s to those whose heart is going unto the heart Of their detestable and their abominable things, Their way on their head I have put, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'

Ma quanto a quelli il cui cuore esegue le loro cose esecrande e le loro abominazioni, farò ricadere sul loro capo la loro condotta», dice il Signore, l'Eterno.

22 A nd the cherubs lift up their wings, and the wheels over-against them, and the honour of the God of Israel over them above.

Poi i cherubini spiegarono le loro ali e le ruote si mossero accanto a loro, e la gloria del DIO d'Israele stava in alto su di loro.

23 A nd the honour of Jehovah goeth up from off the midst of the city, and standeth on the mountain, that on the east of the city.

La gloria dell'Eterno si alzò dal mezzo della città e si fermò sul monte che è ad est della città.

24 A nd a spirit hath lifted me up, and bringeth me in to Chaldea, unto the Removed, in a vision, by the Spirit of God, and go up from off me doth the vision that I have seen;

Quindi lo Spirito mi sollevò e mi trasportò in Calde fra quelli che erano in cattività, in una visione per lo Spirito di DIO, e la visione che avevo visto scomparve davanti a me levandosi in alto;

25 a nd I speak unto the Removed all the matters of Jehovah that He hath shewed me.
