1 A nd Jacob calleth unto his sons and saith, `Be gathered together, and I declare to you that which doth happen with you in the latter end of the days.

Poi Giacobbe chiamò i suoi figli e disse: «Radunatevi perché io vi annunci ciò che vi accadrà nei giorni a venire.

2 ` Be assembled, and hear, sons of Jacob, And hearken unto Israel your father.

Radunatevi e ascoltate, o figli di Giacobbe! Date ascolto a Israele, vostro padre!

3 R euben! my first-born thou, My power, and beginning of my strength, The abundance of exaltation, And the abundance of strength;

Ruben, tu sei il mio primogenito, la mia forza, la primizia del mio vigore, eminente in dignità ed eminente in forza.

4 U nstable as water, thou art not abundant; For thou hast gone up thy father's bed; Then thou hast polluted: My couch he went up!

Impetuoso come l'acqua, tu non avrai la preminenza, perché sei salito sul letto di tuo padre e l'hai profanato. Egli è salito sul mio letto.

5 S imeon and Levi brethren! Instruments of violence -- their espousals!

Simeone e Levi sono fratelli: le loro spade sono strumenti di violenza.

6 I nto their secret, come not, O my soul! Unto their assembly be not united, O mine honour; For in their anger they slew a man, And in their self-will eradicated a prince.

Maledetta la loro ira, perché è stata violenta, e il loro furore perché è stato crudele! Io li dividerò in Giacobbe e li disperderò in Israele.

8 J udah! thou -- thy brethren praise thee! Thy hand on the neck of thine enemies, Sons of thy father bow themselves to thee.

Giuda, i tuoi fratelli ti loderanno; la tua mano sarà sulla nuca dei tuoi nemici; i figli di tuo padre si inchineranno davanti a te.

9 A lion's whelp Judah, For prey, my son, thou hast gone up; He hath bent, he hath crouched as a lion, And as a lioness; who causeth him to arise?

Giuda è un giovane leone; tu risali dalla preda, figlio mio; egli si china, si accovaccia come un leone, come una leonessa; chi osa destarlo

10 T he sceptre turneth not aside from Judah, And a lawgiver from between his feet, Till his Seed come; And his the obedience of peoples.

Lo scettro non sarà rimosso da Giuda, né il bastone del comando di fra i suoi piedi, finché venga Sciloh'; e a lui ubbidiranno i popoli.

11 B inding to the vine his ass, And to the choice vine the colt of his ass, He hath washed in wine his clothing, And in the blood of grapes his covering;

Egli lega il suo asinello alla vite e il puledro della sua asina alla vite migliore; lava la sua veste nel vino e il suo manto nel sangue dell'uva.

12 R ed eyes with wine, And white teeth with milk!

Egli ha visto che il riposo è buono e che il paese è gradevole; ha curvato la spalla per portare il peso ed è divenuto un servo del lavoro forzato.

16 D an doth judge his people, As one of the tribes of Israel;

Dan giudicherà il suo popolo, come una delle tribú d'Israele.

17 D an is a serpent by the way, An adder by the path, Which is biting the horse's heels, And its rider falleth backward.

Dan sarà un serpente sulla strada, un aspide sul sentiero, che morde i talloni del cavallo, si che il cavaliere cade all'indietro.

18 F or Thy salvation I have waited, Jehovah!

Io aspetto la tua salvezza, o Eterno!

19 G ad! a troop assaulteth him, But he assaulteth last.

Gad, una banda di razziatori lo assalirà, ma egli a sua volta li assalirà alle calcagna.

20 O ut of Asher his bread fat; And he giveth dainties of a king.

Da Ascer verrà il pane saporito ed egli fornirà delizie reali.

21 N aphtali a hind sent away, Who is giving beauteous young ones.

Neftali è una cerva messa in libertà; egli dice delle belle parole.

22 J oseph a fruitful son; A fruitful son by a fountain, Daughters step over the wall;

Giuseppe è un ramo d'albero fruttifero; un ramo d'albero fruttifero vicino a una sorgente; i suoi rami corrono sopra il muro.

23 A nd embitter him -- yea, they have striven, Yea, hate him do archers;

Gli arcieri l'hanno provocato, gli hanno lanciato dardi, l'hanno perseguitato;

24 A nd his bow abideth in strength, And strengthened are the arms of his hands By the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, Whence is a shepherd, a son of Israel.

ma l'arco suo è rimasto saldo; le sue braccia e le sue mani sono state rinforzate dalle mani del Potente di Giacobbe. (da colui che è il pastore e la roccia d'Israele).

25 B y the God of thy father who helpeth thee, And the Mighty One who blesseth thee, Blessings of the heavens from above, Blessings of the deep lying under, Blessings of breasts and womb; --

dal Dio di tuo padre che ti aiuterà, e dall'Altissimo che ti benedirà con benedizioni del cielo di sopra, con benedizioni dell'abisso che giace di sotto, con benedizioni delle mammelle del grembo materno.

26 T hy father's blessings have been mighty Above the blessings of my progenitors, Unto the limit of the heights age-during They are for the head of Joseph, And for the crown of the one Separate his brethren.

Le benedizioni di tuo padre sorpassano le benedizioni dei miei antenati, fino alle cime dei colli eterni. Esse saranno sul capo di Giuseppe e sulla corona di colui che fu separato dai suoi fratelli.

27 B enjamin! a wolf teareth; In the morning he eateth prey, And at evening he apportioneth spoil.'

Beniamino è un lupo rapace; al mattino divora la preda, e la sera spartisce le spoglie».

28 A ll these the twelve tribes of Israel, and this that which their father hath spoken unto them, and he blesseth them; each according to his blessing he hath blessed them.

Tutti questi sono le dodici tribú d'Israele; e questo è ciò che il loro padre disse loro, quando li benedisse. Li benedisse, dando a ciascuno la sua benedizione particolare.

29 A nd he commandeth them, and saith unto them, `I am being gathered unto my people; bury me by my fathers, at the cave which in the field of Ephron the Hittite;

33 A nd Jacob finisheth commanding his sons, and gathereth up his feet unto the bed, and expireth, and is gathered unto his people.

Quando Giacobbe ebbe finito di dare questi ordini ai suoi figli, ritirò i suo piedi nel letto e spirò, e fu riunito al suo popolo.
