1 P oi Giacobbe chiamò i suoi figli e disse: «Radunatevi perché io vi annunci ciò che vi accadrà nei giorni a venire.

And Jacob calleth unto his sons and saith, `Be gathered together, and I declare to you that which doth happen with you in the latter end of the days.

2 R adunatevi e ascoltate, o figli di Giacobbe! Date ascolto a Israele, vostro padre!

`Be assembled, and hear, sons of Jacob, And hearken unto Israel your father.

3 R uben, tu sei il mio primogenito, la mia forza, la primizia del mio vigore, eminente in dignità ed eminente in forza.

Reuben! my first-born thou, My power, and beginning of my strength, The abundance of exaltation, And the abundance of strength;

4 I mpetuoso come l'acqua, tu non avrai la preminenza, perché sei salito sul letto di tuo padre e l'hai profanato. Egli è salito sul mio letto.

Unstable as water, thou art not abundant; For thou hast gone up thy father's bed; Then thou hast polluted: My couch he went up!

5 S imeone e Levi sono fratelli: le loro spade sono strumenti di violenza.

Simeon and Levi brethren! Instruments of violence -- their espousals!

6 N on entri l'anima mia nel loro consiglio, non si unisca la mia gloria alla loro adunanza! Poiché nella loro ira hanno ucciso degli uomini, e nella loro caparbietà hanno tagliato i garretti ai tori.

Into their secret, come not, O my soul! Unto their assembly be not united, O mine honour; For in their anger they slew a man, And in their self-will eradicated a prince.

7 M aledetta la loro ira, perché è stata violenta, e il loro furore perché è stato crudele! Io li dividerò in Giacobbe e li disperderò in Israele.

Cursed their anger, for fierce, And their wrath, for sharp; I divide them in Jacob, And I scatter them in Israel.

8 G iuda, i tuoi fratelli ti loderanno; la tua mano sarà sulla nuca dei tuoi nemici; i figli di tuo padre si inchineranno davanti a te.

Judah! thou -- thy brethren praise thee! Thy hand on the neck of thine enemies, Sons of thy father bow themselves to thee.

9 G iuda è un giovane leone; tu risali dalla preda, figlio mio; egli si china, si accovaccia come un leone, come una leonessa; chi osa destarlo

A lion's whelp Judah, For prey, my son, thou hast gone up; He hath bent, he hath crouched as a lion, And as a lioness; who causeth him to arise?

10 L o scettro non sarà rimosso da Giuda, né il bastone del comando di fra i suoi piedi, finché venga Sciloh'; e a lui ubbidiranno i popoli.

The sceptre turneth not aside from Judah, And a lawgiver from between his feet, Till his Seed come; And his the obedience of peoples.

11 E gli lega il suo asinello alla vite e il puledro della sua asina alla vite migliore; lava la sua veste nel vino e il suo manto nel sangue dell'uva.

Binding to the vine his ass, And to the choice vine the colt of his ass, He hath washed in wine his clothing, And in the blood of grapes his covering;

12 E gli ha gli occhi lucenti per il vino e i denti bianchi per il latte.

Red eyes with wine, And white teeth with milk!

13 Z abulon abiterà sulla costa dei mari e sarà un rifugio per le navi; il suo confine si estenderà verso Sidone.

Zebulun at a haven of the seas doth dwell, And he for a haven of ships; And his side unto Zidon.

14 I ssacar è un asino robusto, sdraiato fra gli ovili.

Issacher a strong ass, Crouching between the two folds;

15 E gli ha visto che il riposo è buono e che il paese è gradevole; ha curvato la spalla per portare il peso ed è divenuto un servo del lavoro forzato.

And he seeth rest that good, And the land that pleasant, And he inclineth his shoulder to bear, And is to tribute a servant.

16 D an giudicherà il suo popolo, come una delle tribú d'Israele.

Dan doth judge his people, As one of the tribes of Israel;

17 D an sarà un serpente sulla strada, un aspide sul sentiero, che morde i talloni del cavallo, si che il cavaliere cade all'indietro.

Dan is a serpent by the way, An adder by the path, Which is biting the horse's heels, And its rider falleth backward.

18 I o aspetto la tua salvezza, o Eterno!

For Thy salvation I have waited, Jehovah!

19 G ad, una banda di razziatori lo assalirà, ma egli a sua volta li assalirà alle calcagna.

Gad! a troop assaulteth him, But he assaulteth last.

20 D a Ascer verrà il pane saporito ed egli fornirà delizie reali.

Out of Asher his bread fat; And he giveth dainties of a king.

21 N eftali è una cerva messa in libertà; egli dice delle belle parole.

Naphtali a hind sent away, Who is giving beauteous young ones.

22 G iuseppe è un ramo d'albero fruttifero; un ramo d'albero fruttifero vicino a una sorgente; i suoi rami corrono sopra il muro.

Joseph a fruitful son; A fruitful son by a fountain, Daughters step over the wall;

23 G li arcieri l'hanno provocato, gli hanno lanciato dardi, l'hanno perseguitato;

And embitter him -- yea, they have striven, Yea, hate him do archers;

24 m a l'arco suo è rimasto saldo; le sue braccia e le sue mani sono state rinforzate dalle mani del Potente di Giacobbe. (da colui che è il pastore e la roccia d'Israele).

And his bow abideth in strength, And strengthened are the arms of his hands By the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, Whence is a shepherd, a son of Israel.

25 d al Dio di tuo padre che ti aiuterà, e dall'Altissimo che ti benedirà con benedizioni del cielo di sopra, con benedizioni dell'abisso che giace di sotto, con benedizioni delle mammelle del grembo materno.

By the God of thy father who helpeth thee, And the Mighty One who blesseth thee, Blessings of the heavens from above, Blessings of the deep lying under, Blessings of breasts and womb; --

26 L e benedizioni di tuo padre sorpassano le benedizioni dei miei antenati, fino alle cime dei colli eterni. Esse saranno sul capo di Giuseppe e sulla corona di colui che fu separato dai suoi fratelli.

Thy father's blessings have been mighty Above the blessings of my progenitors, Unto the limit of the heights age-during They are for the head of Joseph, And for the crown of the one Separate his brethren.

27 B eniamino è un lupo rapace; al mattino divora la preda, e la sera spartisce le spoglie».

Benjamin! a wolf teareth; In the morning he eateth prey, And at evening he apportioneth spoil.'

28 T utti questi sono le dodici tribú d'Israele; e questo è ciò che il loro padre disse loro, quando li benedisse. Li benedisse, dando a ciascuno la sua benedizione particolare.

All these the twelve tribes of Israel, and this that which their father hath spoken unto them, and he blesseth them; each according to his blessing he hath blessed them.

29 P oi Giacobbe ordinò loro e disse: «Io sto per essere riunito al mio popolo; seppellitemi coi miei padri nella spelonca che è nel campo di Efron l'Hitteo.

And he commandeth them, and saith unto them, `I am being gathered unto my people; bury me by my fathers, at the cave which in the field of Ephron the Hittite;

30 n ella caverna che è nel campo di Makpelah di fronte a Mamre, nel paese di Canaan. quella che Abrahamo comperò col campo da Efron l'Hitteo, come sepolcro di sua proprietà.

in the cave which in the field of Machpelah, which on the front of Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a burying-place;

31 L à furono sepolti Abrahamo e Sara sua moglie; là furono sepolti Isacco e Rebecca sua moglie, e là io seppellii Lea.

32 I l campo e la caverna che vi si trova furono comperati dai figli di Heth».

the purchase of the field and of the cave which in it, from Sons of Heth.'

33 Q uando Giacobbe ebbe finito di dare questi ordini ai suoi figli, ritirò i suo piedi nel letto e spirò, e fu riunito al suo popolo.

And Jacob finisheth commanding his sons, and gathereth up his feet unto the bed, and expireth, and is gathered unto his people.
