1 C osí dice l'Eterno: «Osservate il diritto e praticate la giustizia perché la mia salvezza, sta per venire e la mia giustizia per essere rivelata.

Thus said Jehovah: `Keep ye judgment, and do righteousness, For near My salvation to come, And My righteousness to be revealed.'

2 B eato l'uomo che agisce cosí e il figlio dell'uomo che si attiene a questo, che osserva il sabato senza profanarlo e che trattiene la sua mano dal fare qualsiasi male».

O the happiness of a man who doth this, And of a son of man who keepeth hold on it, Keeping the sabbath from polluting it, And keeping his hand from doing any evil.

3 N on dica il figlio dello straniero che si è unito all'Eterno: «L'Eterno mi ha certamente escluso dal suo popolo». E non dica l'eunuco: «Ecco, io sono un albero secco».

Nor speak let a son of the stranger, Who is joined unto Jehovah, saying: `Jehovah doth certainly separate me from His people.' Nor say let the eunuch, `Lo, I am a tree dried up,'

4 P oiché cosí dice l'Eterno: «Agli eunuchi che osservano i miei sabati, scelgono ciò che a me piace e si attengono fermamente al mio patto,

For thus said Jehovah of the eunuchs, Who do keep My sabbaths, And have fixed on that which I desired, And are keeping hold on My covenant:

5 d arò loro nella mia casa e dentro le mie mura un posto e un nome, che varranno meglio di quello dei figli e delle figlie; darò loro un nome eterno che non sarà mai cancellato.

I have given to them in My house, And within My walls a station and a name, Better than sons and than daughters, A name age-during I give to him That is not cut off.

6 I figli degli stranieri che si sono uniti all'Eterno per servirlo, per amare il nome dell'Eterno e per essere suoi servi, tutti quelli che osservano il sabato senza profanarlo e si attengono fermamente al mio patto,

And sons of the stranger, who are joined to Jehovah, To serve Him, and to love the name of Jehovah, To be to Him for servants, Every keeper of the sabbath from polluting it, And those keeping hold on My covenant.

7 l i condurrò sul mio monte santo e li riempirò di gioia nella mia casa d'orazione, i loro olocausti e i loro sacrifici saranno graditi sul mio altare, perché la mia casa sarà chiamata una casa di orazione per tutti i popoli».

I have brought them unto My holy mountain, And caused them to rejoice in My house of prayer, Their burnt-offerings and their sacrifices for a pleasing thing on Mine altar, For My house, `A house of prayer,' Is called for all the peoples.

8 I l Signore, l'Eterno, che raduna i dispersi d'Israele, dice: «Io raccoglierò intorno a lui anche altri, oltre a quelli già raccolti».

An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Who is gathering the outcasts of Israel: `Again I gather to him -- to his gathered ones.'

9 V oi tutte, bestie dei campi, venite a divorare; venite, voi tutte, bestie della foresta!

Every beast of the field, Come to devour, every beast in the forest.

10 I suoi guardiani sono ciechi, sono tutti senza conoscenza, sono tutti cani muti, incapaci di abbaiare; fanno sogni, stanno sdraiati, amano sonnecchiare.

Blind his watchmen -- all of them, They have not known, All of them dumb dogs, they are not able to bark, Dozing, lying down, loving to slumber.

11 S ono cani ingordi, che non sono mai sazi; sono pastori che non capiscono nulla; seguono tutti la loro via, ognuno mira al proprio interesse, per conto suo.

And the dogs strong of desire, They have not known sufficiency, And they shepherds! They have not known understanding, All of them to their own way they did turn, Each to his dishonest gain from his quarter:

12 « Venite», dicono, «prenderò del vino e ci ubriacheremo di bevande inebrianti; domani sarà come oggi, anzi molto meglio».

`Come ye, I take wine, And we drink, quaff strong drink, And as this day hath been to-morrow, Great -- exceeding abundant!'
