1 P oi Davide disse: «Questa è la casa dell'Eterno DIO e questo è l'altare degli olocausti per Israele».

And David saith, `This is the house of Jehovah God, and this the altar for burnt-offering for Israel.'

2 A llora Davide ordinò di radunare gli stranieri che erano nel paese d'Israele e diede incarico agli scalpellini di squadrare pietre per costruire la casa di DIO.

And David saith to gather the sojourners who in the land of Israel, and appointeth hewers to hew hewn-stones to build a house of God.

3 D avide preparò pure ferro in abbondanza per i chiodi dei battenti delle porte e per i ganci, una quantità di bronzo di peso incalcolabile,

And iron in abundance for nails for leaves of the gates, and for couplings, hath David prepared, and brass in abundance -- there is no weighing.

4 e legno di cedro da non potersi contare, perché i Sidoni e i Tiri avevano portato a Davide legno di cedro, in abbondanza.

And cedar-trees even without number, for the Zidonians and the Tyrians brought in cedar-trees in abundance to David.

5 D avide diceva: «Salomone, mio figlio, è giovane e inesperto e la casa che si deve costruire all'Eterno, sarà estremamente magnifica e acquisterà fama e gloria in tutti i paesi; farò quindi i preparativi per essa». Cosí Davide, prima di morire, fece ingenti preparativi.

And David saith, `Solomon my son a youth and tender, and the house to be built to Jehovah to be made exceedingly great, for name and for beauty to all the lands; let me prepare, I pray Thee, for it;' and David prepareth in abundance before his death.

6 P oi chiamò suo figlio Salomone e gli ordinò di costruire una casa all'Eterno, il DIO d'Israele.

And he calleth for Solomon his son, and chargeth him to build a house to Jehovah, God of Israel,

7 D avide disse a Salomone: «Figlio mio, lo stesso avevo in cuore di costruire una casa, al nome dell'Eterno, il mio DIO;

and David saith to Solomon his son, `As for me, it hath been with my heart to build a house to the name of Jehovah my God,

8 m a la parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta, dicendo: "Tu hai versato molto sangue e hai fatto molte guerre; perciò non costruirai una casa al mio nome, perché hai versato molto sangue sulla terra davanti a me.

and the word of Jehovah against me, saying, Blood in abundance thou hast shed, and great wars thou hast made: thou dost not build a house to My name, for much blood thou hast shed to the earth before Me.

9 M a ecco, ti nascerà un figlio, che sarà uomo pacifico e io gli darò riposo da parte di tutti i suoi nemici tutt'intorno. Egli si chiamerà Salomone e nei suoi giorni darò pace e tranquillità a Israele.

`Lo, a son is born to thee; he is a man of rest, and I have given rest to him from all his enemies round about, for Solomon is his name, and peace and quietness I give unto Israel in his days;

10 E gli costruirà una casa al mio nome; egli sarà per me un figlio e io sarò per lui un padre; e renderò stabile il trono del suo regno su Israele per sempre".

he doth build a house to My name, and he is to Me for a son, and I to him for a father, and I have established the throne of his kingdom over Israel unto the age.

11 O ra, figlio mio, l'Eterno sia con te affinché tu prosperi e costruisca la casa dell'Eterno, il tuo DIO, come egli ha detto di te.

`Now, my son, Jehovah is with thee, and thou hast prospered, and hast built the house of Jehovah thy God, as He spake concerning thee.

12 S olamente l'Eterno ti dia sapienza e intelligenza e ti affidi la responsabilità su Israele, per osservare la legge dell'Eterno, il tuo DIO.

Only, Jehovah give to thee wisdom and understanding, and charge thee concerning Israel, even to keep the law of Jehovah thy God;

13 A llora prospererai, se avrai cura di mettere in pratica gli statuti e i decreti che l'Eterno prescrisse a Mosè per Israele. Sii forte e coraggioso, non temere e non sgomentarti.

then thou dost prosper, if thou dost observe to do the statutes and the judgments that Jehovah charged Moses with concerning Israel; be strong and courageous; do not fear, nor be cast down.

14 E cco, io mi sono preoccupato di preparare per la casa dell'Eterno centomila talenti d'oro, un milione di talenti d'argento e una tale quantità di bronzo e di ferro da non potersi pesare. Ho anche preparato legname e pietre; e tu potrai aggiungerne ancora.

`And lo, in mine affliction, I have prepared for the house of Jehovah of gold talents a hundred thousand, and of silver a thousand thousand talents; and of brass and of iron there is no weighing, for in abundance it hath been, and wood and stones I have prepared, and to them thou dost add.

15 I noltre hai con te molti operai: scalpellini, lavoratori della pietra e del legno e ogni sorta di esperti in qualsiasi genere di lavoro.

`And with thee in abundance workmen, hewers and artificers of stone and of wood, and every skilful man for every work.

16 D i oro argento, bronzo e ferro, ce n'è una quantità incalcolabile. Levati dunque e mettiti al lavoro, e l'Eterno sia con te!».

To the gold, to the silver, and to the brass, and to the iron, there is no number; arise and do, and Jehovah is with thee.'

17 D avide ordinò pure a tutti i capi d'Israele di aiutare Salomone, suo figlio, e disse loro:

And David giveth charge to all heads of Israel to give help to Solomon his son,

18 « Non è forse l'Eterno, il vostro DIO con voi, e non vi ha dato riposo tutt'intorno? Infatti egli ha messo nelle mie mani gli abitanti del paese, e il paese è assoggettato davanti all'Eterno e davanti al suo popolo.

`Is not Jehovah your God with you? yea, He hath given rest to you round about, for He hath given into my hand the inhabitants of the land, and subdued hath been the land before His people.

19 O ra perciò disponete il vostro cuore e la vostra anima a cercare l'Eterno, vostro DIO; poi levatevi e costruite il santuario dell'Eterno DIO, per trasferire l'arca del patto dell'Eterno e gli oggetti consacrati a DIO nel tempio che sarà costruito al nome dell'Eterno».

`Now, give your heart and your soul to seek to Jehovah your God, and rise and build the sanctuary of Jehovah God, to bring in the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and the holy vessels of God, to the house that is built to the name of Jehovah.'
