1 P oi Abrahamo prese un'altra moglie, di nome Keturah.

And Abraham addeth and taketh a wife, and her name Keturah;

2 E questa gli partorì Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Madian, Ishbak e Shuah.

and she beareth to him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

3 J okshan generò Sceba e Dedan. I figli di Dedan furono gli Asshurim, i Letuscim e i Leummim.

And Jokshan hath begotten Sheba and Dedan; and the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim;

4 I figli di Madian furono Efah, Efer, Hanok, Abidah ed Eldaah. Tutti questi furono i figli di Keturah.

and the sons of Midian Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah: all these sons of Keturah.

5 A brahamo diede tutto ció che possedeva a Isacco;

And Abraham giveth all that he hath to Isaac;

6 m a ai figli che Abrahamo aveva avuto dalle concubine fece dei doni e Mentre era ancora in vita, li mandò lontano da suo figlio Isacco, verso est in un paese d'oriente.

and to the sons of the concubines whom Abraham hath, Abraham hath given gifts, and sendeth them away from Isaac his son (in his being yet alive) eastward, unto the east country.

7 O r questi sono gli anni della vita di Abrahamo che egli visse: centosettantacinque anni.

And these the days of the years of the life of Abraham, which he lived, a hundred and seventy and five years;

8 P oi Abrahamo spirò e morì in prospera vecchiaia, attempato e sazio di giorni, e fu riunito al suo popolo.

and Abraham expireth, and dieth in a good old age, aged and satisfied, and is gathered unto his people.

9 E i suoi figli Isacco e Ismaele lo seppellirono nella spelonca di Makpelah nel campo di Efron, figlio di Zohar lo Hitteo, che è di fronte a Mamre,

And Isaac and Ishmael his sons bury him at the cave of Machpelah, at the field of Ephron, son of Zoar the Hittite, which before Mamre --

10 i l campo che Abrahamo aveva comprato dai figli di Heth. Là furono sepolti Abrahamo e Sara sua moglie.

the field which Abraham bought from the sons of Heth -- there hath Abraham been buried, and Sarah his wife.

11 D opo la morte di Abrahamo, DIO benedisse suo figlio Isacco; e Isacco dimorò presso il pozzo di Lahai-Roi.

And it cometh to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blesseth Isaac his son; and Isaac dwelleth by the Well of the Living One, my Beholder.

12 O ra questi sono i discendenti di Ismaele, figlio di Abrahamo, che Agar l'egiziana, serva di Sara, aveva partorito ad Abrahamo.

And these births of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, hath borne to Abraham;

13 Q uesti sono i nomi dei figli di Ismaele, secondo i nomi delle loro generazioni: Nebajoth, il primogenito di Ismaele; poi Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

and these the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their births: first-born of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

14 M ishma, Dumah, Massa,

and Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,

15 H adar, Tema, Jetur, Nafish e Kedemah.

Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:

16 Q uesti. sono i figli di Ismaele e questi i loro nomi, secondo i loro villaggio e i loro accampamenti. Essi furono i dodici principi delle loro rispettive nazioni.

these are sons of Ishmael, and these their names, by their villages, and by their towers; twelve princes according to their peoples.

17 O r questi sono gli anni della vita di Ismaele: centotrentasette anni; poi egli spirò e morì, e fu riunito al suo popolo.

And these the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty and seven years; and he expireth, and dieth, and is gathered unto his people;

18 ( E i suoi figli abitarono da Havilah fino a Shur, che è ad est dell'Egitto, in direzione dell'Assiria). Egli si stabilì in presenza di tutti e suoi fratelli.

and they tabernacle from Havilah unto Shur, which before Egypt, in going towards Asshur; in the presence of all his brethren hath he fallen.

19 q uesti sono i discendenti di Isacco figlio di Abrahamo.

And these births of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham hath begotten Isaac;

20 A brahamo generò Isacco; e Isacco aveva quarant'anni quando prese in moglie Rebecca, figlia di Bethuel, l'Arameo di Paddan-Aran sorella di Labano l'Arameo.

and Isaac is a son of forty years in his taking Rebekah, daughter of Bethuel the Aramaean, from Padan-Aram, sister of Laban the Aramaean, to him for a wife.

21 I sacco supplicò l'Eterno per sua moglie, perché ella era sterile. L'Eterno lo esaudì, e Rebecca, sua moglie, concepì.

And Isaac maketh entreaty to Jehovah before his wife, for she barren: and Jehovah is entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceiveth,

22 M a i bambini si spingevano l'un l'altro nel suo grembo; ed ella disse: «Se è così (che l'Eterno ha risposto), perché mi trovo io in queste condizioni?». Così andò a consultare l'Eterno.

and the children struggle together within her, and she saith, `If right -- why I thus?' and she goeth to seek Jehovah.

23 E l'Eterno le disse: «Due nazioni sono nel tuo grembo, e due popoli separati usciranno dalle tue viscere. Uno dei due popoli sarà piú forte dell'altro, e il maggiore servirà il minore».

And Jehovah saith to her, `Two nations in thy womb, and two peoples from thy bowels are parted; and the people than the people is stronger; and the elder doth serve the younger.'

24 Q uando venne per lei il tempo di partorire, ecco che ella aveva in grembo due gemelli.

And her days to bear are fulfilled, and lo, twins in her womb;

25 E il primo che uscì fuori era rosso; egli era tutto quanto come un mantello peloso; così lo chiamarono Esaú.

and the first cometh out all red as a hairy robe, and they call his name Esau;

26 D opo uscì suo Fratello, che con la mano teneva il calcagno di Esaú; così lo chiamarono Giacobbe. Or Isacco aveva settant'anni quando Rebecca li partorì.

and afterwards hath his brother come out, and his hand is taking hold on Esau's heel, and one calleth his name Jacob; and Isaac a son of sixty years in her bearing them.

27 I due fanciulli crebbero ed Esaú divenne un esperto cacciatore, un uomo di campagna, mentre Giacobbe era un uomo tranquillo, che viveva nelle tende.

And the youths grew, and Esau is a man acquainted hunting, a man of the field; and Jacob a plain man, inhabiting tents;

28 O r Isacco amava Esaú, perché la cacciagione era di suo gusto; Rebecca invece amava Giacobbe.

and Isaac loveth Esau, for hunting in his mouth; and Rebekah is loving Jacob.

29 U na volta che Giacobbe si cucinò una zuppa, Esaú giunse dai campi tutto stanco.

And Jacob boileth pottage, and Esau cometh in from the field, and he weary;

30 E d Esaú disse a Giacobbe: «Per favore, lasciami mangiare un po' di questa zuppa rossa, perché sono stanco». Per questo fu chiamato Edom.

and Esau saith unto Jacob, `Let me eat, I pray thee, some of this red red thing, for I weary;' therefore hath called his name Edom;

31 M a Giacobbe gli rispose: «Vendimi prima la tua primogenitura».

and Jacob saith, `Sell to-day thy birthright to me.'

32 E saú disse: «Ecco io sto per morire; che mi giova la primogenitura?».

And Esau saith, `Lo, I am going to die, and what is this to me -- birthright?'

33 A llora Giacobbe disse: «Prima, giuramelo». Ed Esaù glielo giurò e vendette la sua primogenitura Giacobbe.

and Jacob saith, `Swear to me to-day:' and he sweareth to him, and selleth his birthright to Jacob;

34 Q uindi Giacobbe diede a Esaú del pane e della zuppa di lenticchie. Ed egli mangiò e bevve; poi si alzò e se ne andò. Così Esaú disprezzò la sa primogenitura.

and Jacob hath given to Esau bread and pottage of lentiles, and he eateth, and drinketh, and riseth, and goeth; and Esau despiseth the birthright.
