1 « Tu figlio d'uomo, profetizza ai monti d'Israele e di' O monti d'Israele, ascoltate la parola dell'Eterno.

And thou, son of man, prophesy unto mountains of Israel, and thou hast said, O mountains of Israel, hear a word of Jehovah.

2 C osí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Poiché il nemico ha detto di voi: ah, ah! I colli eterni sono divenuti nostro possesso profetizza e di':

Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because the enemy said against you, Aha, and the high places of old for a possession have been to us,

3 C osí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Si, poiché hanno voluto devastarvi e inghiottirvi da ogni lato per farvi diventare possesso del resto delle nazioni e perché siete stati oggetto dei discorsi delle male lingue e delle calunnie della gente»,

therefore, prophesy, and thou hast said: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because, even because, of desolating, And of swallowing you up from round about, For your being a possession to the remnant of the nations, And ye are taken up on the tip of the tongue, And an evil report of the people.

4 p erciò, o monti d'Israele, ascoltate la parola del Signore, dell'Eterno. Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno, ai monti e ai colli ai burroni e alle valli, ai luoghi devastati e desolati e alle città abbandonate che sono divenute preda e oggetto di disprezzo del resto delle nazioni d'intorno.

Therefore, O mountains of Israel, Hear a word of the Lord Jehovah: Thus said the Lord Jehovah, to mountains, and to hills, To streams, and to valleys, And to wastes that desolate, And to cities that are forsaken, That have been for a prey, And for a scorn, to the remnant of the nations who round about.

5 P erciò cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: «Sí nel fuoco della mia gelosia io parlo contro il resto delle nazioni e contro tutto Edom che hanno fatto del mio paese il loro possesso con tutta la gioia del cuore e disprezzo dell'anima, per cacciarlo come preda.

Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Have I not, in the fire of My jealousy, Spoken against the remnant of the nations, And against Edom -- all of it, Who gave My land to themselves for a possession, With the joy of the whole heart -- with despite of soul, For the sake of casting it out for a prey?

6 P erciò profetizza alla terra d'Israele e di' ai monti e ai colli, ai burroni e alle valli: Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Ecco, io ho parlato nella mia gelosia e nel mio furore, perché voi avete portato il vituperio delle nazioni»,

Therefore, prophesy concerning the ground of Israel, And thou hast said to mountains, and to hills, To streams, and to valleys, Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I, in My jealousy, and in My fury, I have spoken, Because the shame of nations ye have borne.

7 P erciò cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: «Io ho alzato la mano in giuramento: le nazioni che mi circondano porteranno anch'esse il loro vituperio.

Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: I -- I have lifted up My hand, Do not -- the nations who with you from round about -- they their own shame bear?

8 M a voi o monti d'Israele, metterete i vostri rami e porterete i vostri frutti per il mio popolo d'Israele; sí, esso sta per tornare.

And ye, O mountains of Israel, Your branch ye give out, and your fruits ye bear for My people Israel, For they have drawn near to come.

9 P oiché ecco, io sono per voi, mi volgerò verso di voi e sarete coltivati e seminati.

For, lo, I for you, and have turned to you, And ye have been tilled and sown.

10 F arò moltiplicare su di voi gli uomini, tutta la casa d'Israele, le città saranno abitate e le rovine ricostruite

And I have multiplied on you men, All the house of Israel -- all of it, And the cities have been inhabited, And the wastes are built.

11 F arò moltiplicare su di voi uomini e bestie; moltiplicheranno e saranno fecondi. Vi farò abitare come nei tempi passati e vi farò del bene piú che ai vostri inizi; allora riconoscerete che io sono l'Eterno,

And I have multiplied on you man and beast, And they have multiplied and been fruitful, And I have caused you to dwell according to your former states, And I have done better than at your beginnings, And ye have known that I Jehovah.

12 S í, farò camminare su di voi degli uomini, il mio popolo d'Israele, essi vi possederanno e voi sarete la loro eredità e non li priverete piú dei loro figli».

And I have caused man to walk over you, -- My people Israel, And they possess thee, and thou hast been to them for an inheritance, And thou dost add no more to bereave them.

13 C osí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: «Poiché vi dicono: "Sei un paese che ha divorato gli uomini e ha privato la tua nazione di figli"

Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because they are saying to you: A devourer of men thou, And a bereaver of thy nations thou hast been,

14 p erciò non divorerai piú gli uomini e non priverai piú la tua nazione di figli», dice il Signore, l'Eterno.

Therefore, man thou devourest no more, And thy nations thou causest not to stumble any more, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

15 « Non ti farò piú sentire gli scherni delle nazioni e tu non porterai piú il vituperio dei popoli e non farai piú cadere la tua nazione», dice il Signore, l'Eterno.

And I proclaim not unto thee any more the shame of the nations, And the reproach of peoples thou bearest no more, And thy nations stumble not any more, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'

16 L a parola dell'Eterno mi fu nuovamente rivolta, dicendo:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

17 « Figlio d'uomo, quando quelli della casa d'Israele abitavano nel loro paese, lo contaminavano con la loro condotta e le loro azioni; la loro condotta davanti a me era come impurità della donna durante il suo ciclo mestruale.

`Son of man, The house of Israel are dwelling on their land, And they defile it by their way and by their doings, As the uncleanness of a separated one hath their way been before Me.

18 P erciò riversai su di loro il mio furore per il sangue che avevano sparso sul paese e per gl'idoli con i quali lo avevano contaminato.

And I do pour out My fury upon them For the blood that they shed on the land, And with their idols they have defiled it.

19 C osí li dispersi fra le nazioni e furono disseminati per tutti i paesi, li giudicai secondo la loro condotta e secondo le loro azioni.

And I scatter them among nations, And they are spread through lands, According to their way, and according to their doings, I have judged them.

20 A rrivati fra le nazioni dove erano andati, profanarono il mio santo nome, perché di loro si diceva: "Costoro sono il popolo dell'Eterno, eppure hanno dovuto uscire dal suo paese".

And one goeth in unto the nations whither they have gone, And they pollute My holy name by saying to them, The people of Jehovah these, And from His land they have gone forth.

21 C osí io ebbi riguardo del mio santo nome che la casa d'Israele aveva profanato fra le nazioni dov'erano andati.

And I have pity on My holy name, That the house of Israel have polluted among nations whither they have gone in.

22 P erciò di' alla casa d'Israele: Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: «Io agisco cosí non a motivo di voi, o casa d'Israele, ma per amore del mio santo nome, che voi avete profanato fra le nazioni dove siete andati.

Therefore, say to the house of Israel, Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Not for your sake am I working, O house of Israel, But -- for My holy name, That ye have polluted among nations whither ye have gone in.

23 I o santificherò il mio grande nome profanato fra le nazioni, che avete profanato nel loro mezzo. Le nazioni riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno», dice il Signore, l'Eterno, «quando sarò santificato in voi davanti ai loro occhi.

And I have sanctified My great name, That is profaned among nations, That ye have polluted in your midst, And known have the nations that I Jehovah, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, In My being sanctified in you before your eyes.

24 V i prenderò dalle nazioni, vi radunerò da tutti i paesi e vi ricondurrò nel vostro paese.

And I have taken you out of the nations, And have gathered you out of all the lands, And I have brought you in unto your land,

25 S panderò quindi su di voi acqua pura e sarete puri; vi purificherò da tutte le vostre impurità e da tutti i vostri idoli.

And I have sprinkled over you clean water, And ye have been clean; From all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols, I do cleanse you.

26 V i darò un cuore nuovo e metterò dentro di voi uno spirito nuovo; toglierò dalla vostra carne il cuore di pietra e vi darò un cuore di carne.

And I have given to you a new heart, And a new spirit I give in your midst, And I have turned aside the heart of stone out of your flesh, And I have given to you a heart of flesh.

27 M etterò dentro di voi il mio Spirito e vi farò camminare nei miei statuti, e voi osserverete e metterete in pratica i miei decreti.

And My Spirit I give in your midst, And I have done this, so that in My statutes ye walk, And My judgments ye keep, and have done them.

28 A biterete nel paese che io diedi ai vostri padri; voi sarete il mio popolo e io sarò il vostro DIO.

And ye have dwelt in the land that I have given to your fathers, And ye have been to Me for a people, And I -- I am to you for God.

29 V i libererò da tutte le vostre impurità; chiamerò il frumento, lo farò abbondare e non manderò piú contro di voi la fame.

And I have saved you from all your uncleannesses, And I have called unto the corn, and multiplied it, And I have put no famine upon you.

30 F arò moltiplicare il frutto degli alberi e il prodotto dei campi, affinché non subiate più il vituperio della fame tra le nazioni.

And I have multiplied the fruit of the tree, And the increase of the field, So that ye receive not any more a reproach of famine among nations.

31 A llora vi ricorderete delle vostre vie malvagie e delle vostre azioni che non erano buone e diventerete ripugnanti ai vostri stessi occhi per le vostre iniquità e le vostre abominazioni.

And ye have remembered your ways that evil, And your doings that not good, And have been loathsome in your own faces, For your iniquities, and for your abominations.

32 N on è per amore di voi che io opero», dice il Signore, l'Eterno, «sappiatelo bene. Vergognatevi e siate confusi a motivo delle vostre vie, o casa d'Israele».

Not for your sake am I working, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Be it known to you, Be ashamed and confounded, because of your ways, O house of Israel.

33 C osí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: «Nel giorno in cui vi purificherò da tutte le vostre iniquità, vi farò abitare nuovamente le città, e le rovine saranno ricostruite.

Thus said the Lord Jehovah: In the day of My cleansing you from all your iniquities, I have caused the cities to be inhabited, And the wastes have been built,

34 L a terra desolata sarà coltivata, invece di essere una desolazione agli occhi di tutti i passanti.

And the desolate land is tilled, Instead of which it was a desolation before the eyes of every passer by,

35 E diranno: "Questa terra che era desolata è divenuta come il giardino dell'Eden, e le città devastate, desolate e rovinate sono ora fortificate e abitate".

And they have said: This land, that was desolated, Hath been as the garden of Eden, And the cities -- the wasted, And the desolated, and the broken down, Fenced places have remained.

36 A llora le nazioni che saranno rimaste intorno a voi riconosceranno che io. l'Eterno, ho ricostruito i luoghi distrutti e piantato la terra desolata. Io l'Eterno, ho parlato e lo farò».

And known have the nations who are left round about you, That I Jehovah have built the thrown down, I have planted the desolated: I Jehovah have spoken, and I have done.

37 C osí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: «Sarò nuovamente supplicato dalla casa d'Israele di compiere questo per loro: io moltiplicherò i loro uomini come un gregge.

Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Yet this I am required, By the house of Israel to do to them, I multiply them as a flock of men,

38 C ome un gregge di pecore consacrate, come il gregge di Gerusalemme, nelle sue feste solenni, cosí le città devastate saranno riempite di greggi di uomini. Allora riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno».

As a flock of holy ones, as a flock of Jerusalem, In her appointed seasons, So are the waste cities full of flocks of men, And they have known that I Jehovah!'
