2 L iberami dagli operatori d'iniquità, e salvami dagli uomini sanguinari.

Deliver me from workers of iniquity, And from men of blood save me.

3 P erché, ecco, essi mi tendono agguati uomini potenti si radunano contro di me senza che vi sia, o Eterno, colpa o peccato da parte mia.

For, lo, they laid wait for my soul, Assembled against me are strong ones, Not my transgression nor my sin, O Jehovah.

4 B enché non vi sia alcun fallo in me essi corrono e si preparano; destati per venirmi in aiuto e vedi.

Without punishment they run and prepare themselves, Stir up to meet me, and see.

5 P erciò tu, o Eterno, DIO degli eserciti, DIO d'Israele, risvegliati per punire tutte le nazioni; non fare grazia ad alcuno di quelli che operano perfidamente. (Sela)

And Thou, Jehovah, God of Hosts, God of Israel, Awake to inspect all the nations. Favour not any treacherous dealers of iniquity. Selah.

6 E ssi ritornano alla sera, ululano come cani e si aggirano per la città.

They turn back at evening, They make a noise like a dog, And go round about the city.

7 E cco, vomitano insulti dalla loro bocca; hanno delle spade sulle loro labbra e dicono: «Chi ci ascolta?».

Lo, they belch out with their mouths, Swords in their lips, for `Who heareth?'

8 M a tu, o Eterno, riderai di loro; ti farai beffe di tutte le nazioni.

And Thou, O Jehovah dost laugh at them, Thou dost mock at all the nations.

9 O mia forza, a te guarderò, perché DIO è la mia fortezza.

O my Strength, unto Thee I take heed, For God my tower -- the God of my kindness.

10 I l mio DIO di misericordia mi verrà incontro; DIO mi farà vedere sui miei nemici quel che desidero.

God doth go before me, He causeth me to look on mine enemies.

11 N on ucciderli, perché il mio popolo non dimentichi; per la tua potenza falli andare vagando e abbattili, o Eterno, nostro scudo.

Slay them not, lest my people forget, Shake them by Thy strength, And bring them down, O Lord our shield.

12 P er il peccato della loro bocca e per le parole delle loro labbra siano presi nel laccio del loro orgoglio, a motivo delle maledizioni e menzogne che proferiscono.

The sin of their mouth a word of their lips, And they are captured in their pride, And from the curse and lying they recount.

13 A nnientali nella tua ira, annientali e non siano piú; e sappiano che DIO regna in Giacobbe e fino ai confini della terra. (Sela)

Consume in fury, consume and they are not, And they know that God is ruling in Jacob, To the ends of the earth. Selah.

14 A lla sera essi ritornano, ululano come cani e si aggirano per la città.

And they turn back at evening, They make a noise like a dog, And they go round about the city.

15 V agano in cerca di cibo e, se non trovano da sfamarsi, passano la notte lamentandosi.

They -- they wander for food, If they are not satisfied -- then they murmur.

16 M a io celebrerò la tua potenza e al mattino loderò ad alta voce la tua benignità, perché tu sei stato per me una fortezza e un rifugio nel giorno dell'avversità.

And I -- I sing Thy strength, And I sing at morn Thy kindness, For thou hast been a tower to me, And a refuge for me in a day of adversity.

17 O mia forza, a te io canterò le lodi, perché tu, o DIO, sei la mia fortezza, il DIO che mi usa misericordia.

O my Strength, unto Thee I sing praise, For God my tower, the God of my kindness!
