`Rejoice not, O Israel, be not joyful like the peoples, For thou hast gone a-whoring from thy God, Thou hast loved a gift near all floors of corn.

2 L 'aia e il torchio non li nutriranno e il mosto li lascerà delusi.

Floor and wine-press do not delight them, And new wine doth fail in her,

3 E ssi non abiteranno nel paese dell'Eterno, ma Efraim ritornerà in Egitto e in Assiria mangeranno cibi impuri.

They do not abide in the land of Jehovah, And turned back hath Ephraim Egypt, And in Asshur an unclean thing they eat.

4 N on faranno piú libazioni di vino all'Eterno e i loro sacrifici non gli saranno graditi Saranno per loro come un cibo di lutto; chiunque ne mangerà sarà contaminato, perché il loro pane sarà per sostenere la loro vita, non entrerà nella casa dell'Eterno.

They pour not out wine to Jehovah, Nor are they sweet to Him, Their sacrifices as bread of mourners to them, All eating it are unclean: For their bread for themselves, It doth not come into the house of Jehovah.

5 C he cosa farete nei giorni delle solennità e nei giorni di festa dell'Eterno?

What do ye at the day appointed? And at the day of Jehovah's festival?

6 P oiché ecco, anche se sono sfuggiti alla distruzione, l'Egitto li radunerà insieme, Mof, li seppellirà, le loro cose preziose d'argento le possederanno le ortiche, e nelle loro tende cresceranno le spine.

For, lo, they have gone because of destruction, Egypt gathereth them, Moph burieth them, The desirable things of their silver, Nettles possess them -- a thorn in their tents.

7 S ono giunti i giorni della punizione, sono giunti i giorni della retribuzione; Israele lo saprà. Il profeta è uno stolto, l'uomo spirituale farnetica a causa della grandezza della tua iniquità e della grandezza della tua ostilità.

Come in have the days of inspection, Come in have the days of recompence, Israel doth know! a fool the prophet, Mad the man of the Spirit, Because of the abundance of thine iniquity, And great the hatred.

8 L a sentinella di Efraim è col mio DIO, ma il profeta è un laccio di uccellatore in tutte le sue vie, c'è ostilità nella casa del suo DIO.

Ephraim is looking from My God, The prophet! a snare of a fowler over all his ways, Hatred in the house of his God.

They have gone deep -- have done corruptly, As the days of Gibeah, He doth remember their iniquity, He doth inspect their sins.

10 « Io trovai Israele come uve nel deserto, vidi i vostri padri come i fichi primaticci su un fico al suo inizio. Ma giunti a Baal-peor, Si votarono all'ignominia e divennero spregevoli come ciò che amavano.

As grapes in a wilderness I found Israel, As the first-fruit in a fig-tree, at its beginning, I have seen your fathers, They -- they have gone in Baal-Peor, And are separated to a shameful thing, And are become abominable like their love.

11 L a gloria di Efraim volerà via come un uccello: non piú nascita né gravidanza, né concepimento.

Ephraim as a fowl, Fly away doth their honour, without birth, And without womb, and without conception.

12 A nche se allevano i loro figli, io li priverò di essi, finché non rimanga piú alcun uomo; sí, guai ad essi quando mi allontanerò da loro!

For though they nourish their sons, I have made them childless -- without man, Surely also, wo to them, when I turn aside from them.

13 E fraim come guardando verso Tiro, è piantato in luogo gradevole; ma Efraim dovrà condurre i suoi figli a colui che li ucciderà».

Ephraim! when I have looked to the rock, Is planted in comeliness, And Ephraim to bring out unto a slayer his sons.

14 D a' loro, o Eterno... Che cosa darai loro? Da' loro un grembo che abortisce e mammelle asciutte.

Give to them, Jehovah -- what dost Thou give? Give to them miscarrying womb, and dry breasts.

15 T utta la loro malvagità è a Ghilgal; là infatti ho preso a odiarli. Per la malvagità delle loro azioni li scaccerò dalla mia casa, non li amerò piú; tutti i loro capi sono ribelli,

All their evil in Gilgal, Surely there I have hated them, Because of the evil of their doings, Out of My house I do drive them, I add not to love them, all their heads apostates.

16 E fraim è colpito, la sua radice è seccata; essi non faranno piú frutto. Sí, anche se dovessero avere figli, io farei morire i cari frutti del loro grembo.

Ephraim hath been smitten, Their root hath dried up, fruit they yield not, Yea, though they bring forth, I have put to death the desired of their womb.

17 I l mio DIO li rigetterà, perché non l'hanno ascoltato; ed essi andranno errando fra le nazioni.

Reject them doth my God, Because they have not hearkened to Him, And they are wanderers among nations!
