1 A lzai ancora gli occhi e guardai, ed ecco, quattro carri che uscivano in mezzo a due monti; e i monti erano monti di bronzo.

And I turn back, and lift up mine eyes, and look, and lo, four chariots are coming forth from between two of the mountains, and the mountains mountains of brass.

2 N el primo carro c'erano cavalli rossi, nel secondo carro cavalli neri,

In the first chariot red horses, and in the second chariot brown horses,

3 n el terzo carro cavalli bianchi e nel quarto carro cavalli fortemente chiazzati.

and in the third chariot white horses, and in the fourth chariot strong grisled horses.

4 A llora presi a dire all'angelo che parlava con me: «Signore mio, e questi?».

And I answer and say unto the messenger who is speaking with me, `What these, my lord?'

5 L 'angelo rispose e mi disse: «Questi sono i quattro spiriti del cielo che escono dopo essere stati alla presenza del Signore di tutta la terra.

And the messenger answereth and saith unto me, `These four spirits of the heavens coming forth from presenting themselves before the Lord of the whole earth.

6 I l carro con i cavalli neri va verso il paese del nord; i cavalli bianchi lo seguono, i chiazzati vanno verso il paese del sud;

The brown horses that therein, are coming forth unto the land of the north; and the white have come forth unto their hinder part; and the grisled have come forth unto the land of the south;

7 q uindi avanzano i cavalli rosso-vivo e chiedono di andare a percorrere la terra». Egli disse loro: «Andate, percorrete la terra!». Cosí essi percorsero la terra.

and the strong ones have come forth, and they seek to go to walk up and down in the earth;' and he saith, `Go, walk up and down in the earth;' and they walk up and down in the earth.

8 P oi egli mi chiamò e mi parlò, dicendo: «Ecco, quelli che vanno verso il paese del nord hanno fatto calmare il mio Spirito sul paese del nord».

And he calleth me, and speaketh unto me, saying, `See, those coming forth unto the land of the north have caused My Spirit to rest in the land of the north.'

9 L a parola dell'Eterno mi fu quindi rivolta, dicendo:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

10 « Accetta doni dagli esuli, cioè da Heldai, da Tobiah e a Jedaiah che sono venuti da Babilonia, e recati oggi stesso in casa di Giosia, figlio di Sofonia.

to take of the captivity (who came from Babylon) from Heldai, from Tobijah, and from Jedaiah, `and thou hast come in -- thou, in that day, yea, thou hast come into the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah,

11 P rendi l'argento e l'oro, fanne una corona e mettila sul capo di Giosuè, figlio di Jehotsadak, il sommo sacerdote.

and thou hast taken silver and gold, and hast made a crown, and hast placed on the head of Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest,

12 Q uindi parla a lui, dicendo: Cosa dice l'Eterno degli eserciti: Ecco, l'uomo, il cui nome è il Germoglio. Germoglierà nel suo luogo e costruirà il tempio dell'Eterno.

and hast spoken unto him, saying: Thus spake Jehovah of Hosts, saying: Lo, a man! A Shoot -- his name, And from his place he doth shoot up, And he hath built the temple of Jehovah.

13 S í, egli costruirà il tempio dell'Eterno, si ammanterà di gloria e si siederà e regnerà sul suo trono, sarà sacerdote sul suo trono, e tra i due ci sarà un consiglio di pace.

Yea, he doth build the temple of Jehovah, And he doth bear away honour, And he hath sat and ruled on His throne, And hath been a priest on His throne, And a counsel of peace is between both.

14 L a corona sarà un ricordo nel tempio dell'Eterno per Helem, per Tobiah, per Jedaiah e per Hen, figlio di Sofonia.

And the crown is to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of Jehovah.

15 A nche quelli che sono lontani verranno per aiutare a costruire il tempio dell'Eterno; allora riconoscerete che l'Eterno degli eserciti mi ha mandato a voi. Questo avverrà se obbedirete diligentemente alla voce dell'Eterno, il vostro DIO».

And the far-off come in, and they have built in the temple of Jehovah, and ye have known that Jehovah of Hosts hath sent me unto you, yea, it hath come to pass, if ye do certainly hearken to the voice of Jehovah your God.'
