A Psalm of David. O Jehovah, hear my prayer, Give ear unto my supplications, In Thy faithfulness answer me -- in Thy righteousness.

2 E non entrare in giudizio col tuo servo, perché nessun vivente sarà trovato giusto davanti a te.

And enter not into judgment with Thy servant, For no one living is justified before Thee.

3 P oiché il nemico mi perseguita, egli ha prostrato fino a terra la mia vita; mi fa abitare in luoghi tenebrosi, come quelli che sono morti già da lungo tempo.

For an enemy hath pursued my soul, He hath bruised to the earth my life, He hath caused me to dwell in dark places, As the dead of old.

4 P erciò il mio spirito viene meno dentro di me, e il mio cuore è tutto smarrito dentro di me.

And my spirit in me is become feeble, Within me is my heart become desolate.

5 R icordo i giorni antichi; medito su tutte le tue opere; rifletto su ciò che le tue mani hanno fatto.

I have remembered days of old, I have meditated on all Thine acts, On the work of Thy hand I muse.

6 P rotendo le mie mani verso di te, la mia anima è assetata di te, come una terra arida. (Sela)

I have spread forth my hands unto Thee, My soul as a weary land for Thee. Selah.

7 A ffrettati a rispondermi, o Eterno, lo spirito mio viene meno; non nascondermi il tuo volto, perché non divenga simile a quelli che scendono nella fossa.

Haste, answer me, O Jehovah, My spirit hath been consumed, Hide not Thou Thy face from me, Or I have been compared with those going down the pit.

8 F ammi sentire la tua benignità al mattino, perché io confido in te; fammi conoscere la via per la quale devo camminare, perché io elevo la mia anima a te.

Cause me to hear in the morning Thy kindness, For in Thee I have trusted, Cause me to know the way that I go, For unto Thee I have lifted up my soul.

9 L iberami dai miei nemici, o Eterno, in te mi nascondo.

Deliver me from mine enemies, O Jehovah, Near Thee I am covered.

10 I nsegnami a fare la tua volontà, perché tu sei il mio DIO; il tuo buon Spirito mi guidi in terra piana.

Teach me to do Thy good pleasure, For Thou my God -- Thy Spirit good, Lead me into a land of uprightness.

11 V ivificami, o Eterno, per amore del tuo nome; nella tua giustizia tirami fuori dall'avversità.

For Thy name's sake O Jehovah, Thou dost quicken me, In Thy righteousness, Thou bringest out from distress my soul,

12 N ella tua benignità distruggi i miei nemici e fa' perire tutti quelli che affliggono l'anima mia, perché io sono il tuo servo.

And in Thy kindness cuttest off mine enemies, And hast destroyed all the adversaries of my soul, For I Thy servant!
