1 P oi l'Eterno disse a Mosè: «Va' da Faraone; poiché io ho indurito il suo cuore e il cuore dei suoi servi, perché possa mostrare questi miei segni in mezzo a loro,

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Go in unto Pharaoh, for I have declared hard his heart, and the heart of his servants, so that I set these My signs in their midst,

2 e affinché tu possa raccontare ai tuoi figli e ai figli dei tuoi figli le grandi cose che ho fatto, prendendomi gioco degli Egiziani, e i miei segni che ho fatto in mezzo a loro, perché sappiate che io sono l'Eterno».

and so that thou recountest in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, that which I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have set among them, and ye have known that I Jehovah.'

3 M osè ed Aaronne andarono dunque dal Faraone e gli dissero: «Così dice l'Eterno, il DIO degli Ebrei: "Fino a quando ti rifiuterai di umiliarti davanti a me? lascia andare il mio popolo perché mi possa servire.

And Moses cometh in -- Aaron also -- unto Pharaoh, and they say unto him, `Thus said Jehovah, God of the Hebrews, Until when hast thou refused to be humbled at My presence? send My people away, and they serve Me,

4 P oiché se ti rifiuti di lasciare andare il mio popolo, ecco domani farò venire delle locuste nel tuo territorio.

for if thou art refusing to send My people away, lo, I am bringing in to-morrow the locust into thy border,

5 E sse copriranno la faccia della terra, così che nessuno potrà vedere i suolo; ed esse divoreranno anche ciò che è rimasto, quello che vi è stato lasciato dalla grandine, e divoreranno ogni albero che cresce per voi nei campi.

and it hath covered the eye of the land, and none is able to see the land, and it hath eaten the remnant of that which is escaped, which is left to you from the hail, and it hath eaten every tree which is springing for you out of the field;

6 E riempiranno le tue case, le case di tutti i tuoi servi e le case di tutti gli Egiziani, qualcosa che né i tuoi padri né i padri dei tuoi padri videro mai, dal giorno che furono sulla terra fino a questo giorno"». Detto questo voltò le spalle e uscì dalla presenza del Faraone.

and they have filled thy houses, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians, which neither thy fathers nor thy father's fathers have seen, since the day of their being on the ground unto this day,' -- and he turneth and goeth out from Pharaoh.

7 P oi i servi del Faraone gli dissero: «Fino a quando quest'uomo sarà un laccio per noi? Lascia andare questa gente, perché possa servire l'Eterno, il suo DIO! Non hai ancora capito che l'Egitto è rovinato?».

And the servants of Pharaoh say unto him, `Until when doth this become a snare to us? send the men away, and they serve Jehovah their God; knowest thou not yet that Egypt hath perished?'

8 C osì Mosè ed Aaronne furono riportati dal Faraone; ed egli disse loro: «Andate, servite l'Eterno, il vostro DIO. Ma chi sono quelli che andranno?». Mosè disse:

And Moses is brought back -- Aaron also -- unto Pharaoh, and he saith unto them, `Go, serve Jehovah your God; -- who and who those going?'

9 « Noi andremo coi nostri fanciulli e coi nostri vecchi, coi nostri figli e con le nostre figlie; andremo con le nostre greggi e coi nostri armenti, perché dobbiamo celebrare una festa all'Eterno».

And Moses saith, `With our young ones, and with our aged ones, we go, with our sons, and with our daughters, with our flock, and our herd, we go, for we have a festival to Jehovah.'

10 I l Faraone disse loro: «Possa l'Eterno essere con voi, quando io lascerò andare voi e i vostri bambini! Ma state attenti a non avere delle cattive intenzioni!

And he saith unto them, `Be it so, Jehovah with you when I send you and your infants away; see -- for evil before your faces;

11 N o, no! Andate voi, uomini, a servire l'Eterno; poiché questo è quel che cercate». E furono cacciati via dalla presenza del Faraone.

not so! go now, ye who men, and serve Jehovah, for that ye are seeking;' and casteth them out from the presence of Pharaoh.

12 A llora l'Eterno disse a Mosè: «Stendi la tua mano sul paese d'Egitto per le locuste, perché salgano a coprire il paese d'Egitto e divorino tutta la vegetazione del paese, tutto quello che la grandine ha lasciato».

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Stretch out thy hand against the land of Egypt for the locust, and it goeth up against the land of Egypt, and doth eat every herb of the land -- all that the hail hath left.'

13 A llora Mosè stese il suo bastone sul paese d'Egitto; e l'Eterno fece levare un vento orientale sul paese tutto quel giorno e tutta la notte; come venne la mattina, il vento orientale portò le locuste.

And Moses stretcheth out his rod against the land of Egypt, and Jehovah hath led an east wind over the land all that day, and all the night; the morning hath been, and the east wind hath lifted up the locust.

14 E le locuste salirono su tutto il paese d'Egitto e si posarono su tutto il territorio d'Egitto in gran quantità. Non c'era mai stato un simile flagello di locuste prima e non ce ne sarà piú un altro.

And the locust goeth up against all the land of Egypt, and resteth in all the border of Egypt -- very grievous: before it there hath not been such a locust as it, and after it there is none such;

15 E sse coprirono la faccia di tutto il paese, tanto da oscurare la terra; e divorarono tutta la vegetazione del paese e tutti i frutti degli alberi che la grandine aveva lasciato; e non rimase piú nulla di verde sugli alberi e sugli arbusti della campagna, per tutto il paese d'Egitto.

and it covereth the eye of all the land, and the land is darkened; and it eateth every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail hath left, and there hath not been left any green thing in the trees, or in the herb of the field, in all the land of Egypt.'

16 A llora il Faraone chiamò in fretta Mosè e Aaronne e disse: «Io ho peccato contro l'Eterno, il vostro DIO, e contro voi.

And Pharaoh hasteth to call for Moses and for Aaron, and saith, `I have sinned against Jehovah your God, and against you,

17 M a ora ti prego, perdona il mio peccato ancora una volta; e supplicate l'Eterno, il vostro DIO, perché soltanto allontani da me questo flagello mortale».

and now, bear with, I pray you, my sin, only this time, and make ye supplication to Jehovah your God, that He turn aside from off me only this death.'

18 E Mosè uscì dal Faraone, e pregò l'Eterno.

And he goeth out from Pharaoh, and maketh supplication unto Jehovah,

19 Q uindi l'Eterno fece alzare un vento contrario, un vento di ponente molto forte, che portò via le locuste e le precipitò nel Mar Rosso. Non rimase piú neppure una locusta in tutto il territorio d'Egitto.

and Jehovah turneth a very strong sea wind, and it lifteth up the locust, and bloweth it into the Red Sea -- there hath not been left one locust in all the border of Egypt;

20 M a l'Eterno indurì il cuore del Faraone ed egli non lasciò andare i figli d'Israele.

and Jehovah strengtheneth the heart of Pharaoh, and he hath not sent the sons of Israel away.

21 A llora l'Eterno disse a Mosè: «Stendi la tua mano verso il cielo, perché vi siano tenebre nel paese d'Egitto, delle tenebre che si possano palpare».

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Stretch out thy hand towards the heavens, and there is darkness over the land of Egypt, and the darkness is felt.'

22 E Mosè stese a sua mano verso il cielo, e vi furono dense tenebre in tutto il paese d'Egitto per tre giorni.

And Moses stretcheth out his hand towards the heavens, and there is darkness -- thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days;

23 U no non vedeva l'altro e nessuno si mosse da dove si trovava per tre giorni; ma per tutti i figli d'Israele c'era luce nelle loro dimore.

they have not seen one another, and none hath risen from his place three days; and to all the sons of Israel there hath been light in their dwellings.'

24 A llora il Faraone chiamò Mosè e disse: «Andate, servite l'Eterno, rimangano soltanto le vostre greggi e i vostri armenti; anche i vostri bambini potranno andare con voi».

And Pharaoh calleth unto Moses and saith, `Go ye, serve Jehovah, only your flock and your herd are stayed, your infants also go with you;'

25 M osè disse: «Tu ci devi anche permettere di prendere dei sacrifici e degli olocausti, perché li possiamo offrire all'Eterno, il nostro DIO.

and Moses saith, `Thou also dost give in our hand sacrifices and burnt-offerings, and we have prepared for Jehovah our God;

26 A nche il nostro bestiame verrà con noi; non le lasceremo qui neppure un'unghia, poiché da esso dobbiamo prendere alcuni capi per servire l'Eterno, i nostro DIO; e non sappiamo con che cosa dovremo servire l'Eterno, finché saremo giunti laggiú».

and also our cattle doth go with us, there is not left a hoof, for from it we do take to serve Jehovah our God; and we -- we know not how we do serve Jehovah till our going thither.'

27 M a l'Eterno indurì il cuore del Faraone ed egli non volle lasciarli andare.

And Jehovah strengtheneth the heart of Pharaoh, and he hath not been willing to send them away;

28 A llora il Faraone disse a Mosè: «Vattene via da me! Guardati bene da comparire ancora alla mia presenza, perché il giorno che comparirai alla mia presenza morirai!».

and Pharaoh saith to him, `Go from me, take heed to thyself, add not to see my face, for in the day thou seest my face thou diest;'

29 M osè rispose: «Hai detto bene; io non comparirò piú alla tua presenza».

and Moses saith, `Rightly hast thou spoken, I add not any more to see thy face.'
