1 « Quando uno prende una donna e la sposa, se poi avviene che essa non gli è piú gradita perché ha trovato in lei qualcosa di vergognoso, scriva per lei un libello di ripudio, glielo dia in mano e la mandi via da casa sua;

`When a man doth take a wife, and hath married her, and it hath been, if she doth not find grace in his eyes (for he hath found in her nakedness of anything), and he hath written for her a writing of divorce, and given into her hand, and sent her out of his house,

2 s e ella esce da casa sua e va e diviene moglie di un altro uomo,

and she hath gone out of his house, and hath gone and been another man's,

3 s e quest'ultimo marito la prende in odio, scrive per lei un libello di ripudio, glielo da in mano e la manda via da casa sua, o se quest'ultimo marito che l'aveva presa in moglie viene a morire,

and the latter man hath hated her, and written for her a writing of divorce, and given into her hand, and sent her out of his house, or when the latter man dieth, who hath taken her to himself for a wife:

4 i l primo marito che l'aveva mandata via non potrà riprenderla in moglie, dopo che è stata contaminata perché questo è un abominio agli occhi dell'Eterno; e tu non macchierai di peccato il paese che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti dà in eredità.

`Her former husband who sent her away is not able to turn back to take her to be to him for a wife, after that she hath become defiled; for an abomination it before Jehovah, and thou dost not cause the land to sin which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee -- an inheritance.

5 S e un uomo si è appena sposato non andrà in guerra e non gli sarà dato alcun incarico; sarà libero a casa sua per un anno e farà lieta la moglie che ha sposato.

`When a man taketh a new wife, he doth not go out into the host, and doth not pass over unto him for anything; free he is at his own house one year, and hath rejoiced his wife whom he hath taken.

6 N essuno prenderà in pegno la macina inferiore o la macina superiore, perché sarebbe come prendere in pegno la vita di uno.

`None doth take in pledge millstones, and rider, for life it he is taking in pledge.

7 S e si sorprende un uomo a rapire uno dei suoi fratelli fra i figli d'Israele e lo maltratta e lo vende, quel rapitore sarà messo a morte; così estirperai il male di mezzo a te.

`When a man is found stealing a person, of his brethren, of the sons of Israel, and hath tyrannized over him, and sold him, then hath that thief died, and thou hast put away the evil thing out of thy midst.

8 I n caso di lebbra bada bene di osservare diligentemente e fare tutto ciò che i sacerdoti levitici vi insegneranno; avrete cura di fare come io ho loro comandato.

`Take heed, in the plague of leprosy, to watch greatly, and to do according to all that the priests, the Levites, teach you; as I have commanded them ye observe to do;

9 R icorda ciò che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, fece a Miriam durante il viaggio, dopo che usciste dall'Egitto.

remember that which Jehovah thy God hath done to Miriam in the way, in your coming out of Egypt.

10 Q uando presti qualcosa al tuo vicino non entrerai in casa sua per prendere il suo pegno;

`When thou liftest up on thy brother a debt of anything, thou dost not go in unto his house to obtain his pledge;

11 r imarrai fuori, e l'uomo a cui hai fatto il prestito ti porterà il pegno fuori.

at the outside thou dost stand, and the man on whom thou art lifting up is bringing out unto thee the pledge at the outside.

12 E se quell'uomo è povero, non andrai a dormire avendo ancora il suo pegno.

`And if he is a poor man, thou dost not lie down with his pledge;

13 D ovrai restituirgli il pegno, al tramonto del sole, affinché egli possa dormire nel suo mantello e benedirti; e questo ti sarà messo in conto di giustizia agli occhi dell'Eterno, il tuo DIO.

thou dost certainly give back to him the pledge at the going in of the sun, and he hath lain down in his own raiment, and hath blessed thee; and to thee it is righteousness before Jehovah thy God.

14 N on defrauderai il bracciante povero e bisognoso, sia egli uno dei tuoi fratelli o uno degli stranieri che stanno nel tuo paese, entro le tue porte;

`Thou dost not oppress a hireling, poor and needy, of thy brethren or of thy sojourner who is in thy land within thy gates;

15 g li darai il suo salario il giorno stesso, prima che tramonti il sole, perché egli è povero e a questo va il suo desiderio; così egli non griderà contro di te all'Eterno e non ci sarà peccato in te.

in his day thou dost give his hire, and the sun doth not go in upon it, for he poor, and unto it he is lifting up his soul, and he doth not cry against thee unto Jehovah, and it hath been in thee -- sin.

16 N on si metteranno a morte i padri per i figli né si metteranno a morte i figli per i padri; ognuno sarà messo a morte per il proprio peccato.

`Fathers are not put to death for sons, and sons are not put to death for fathers -- each for his own sin, they are put to death.

17 N on lederai il diritto dello straniero o dell'orfano e non prenderai in pegno la veste dalla vedova;

`Thou dost not turn aside the judgment of a fatherless sojourner, nor take in pledge the garment of a widow;

18 m a ti ricorderai che sei stato schiavo in Egitto e che di là ti ha redento l'Eterno, il tuo DIO; perciò ti comando di fare questo.

and thou hast remembered that a servant thou hast been in Egypt, and Jehovah thy God doth ransom thee from thence; therefore I am commanding thee to do this thing.

19 Q uando fai la mietitura nel tuo campo e dimentichi nel campo un covone, non tornerai indietro a prenderlo; sarà per lo straniero, per l'orfano e per la vedova, affinché l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti benedica in tutta l'opera delle tue mani.

`When thou reapest thy harvest in thy field, and hast forgotten a sheaf in a field, thou dost not turn back to take it; to the sojourner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, it is; so that Jehovah thy God doth bless thee in all the work of thy hands.

20 Q uando bacchierai i tuoi ulivi, non tornerai a ripassare sui rami; le olive rimaste saranno per lo straniero, per l'orfano e per la vedova.

`When thou beatest thine olive, thou dost not examine the branch behind thee; to the sojourner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, it is.

21 Q uando vendemmierai la tua vigna, non ripasserai una seconda volta; i grappoli rimasti saranno per lo straniero, per l'orfano e per la vedova.

`When thou cuttest thy vineyard, thou dost not glean behind thee; to the sojourner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, it is;

22 E ti ricorderai che sei stato schiavo nel paese d'Egitto; perciò ti comando di fare questo».

and thou hast remembered that a servant thou hast been in the land of Egypt; therefore I am commanding thee to do this thing.
