1 P er questo il mio cuore trema e balza fuori dal suo posto.

Also, at this my heart trembleth, And it moveth from its place.

2 A scoltate attentamente il fragore della sua voce, il rombo che esce dalla sua bocca!

Hearken diligently to the trembling of His voice, Yea, the sound from His mouth goeth forth.

3 E gli lascia andar libero il suo lampo sotto tutto il cielo e fino alle estremità della terra.

Under the whole heavens He directeth it, And its light over the skirts of the earth.

4 D ietro di esso una voce rugge; egli tuona con la sua voce maestosa; egli non li trattiene quando si è udita la sua voce.

After it roar doth a voice -- He thundereth with the voice of His excellency, And He doth not hold them back, When His voice is heard.

5 D io tuona meravigliosamente con la sua voce e fa grandi cose che non possiamo comprendere.

God thundereth with His voice wonderfully, Doing great things and we know not.

6 D ice infatti alla neve: "Cadi sulla terra lo dice tanto alle piogge leggere che alle piogge torrenziali.

For to snow He saith, `Be the earth.' And the small rain and great rain of His power.

7 A rresta la mano di ogni uomo, affinché tutti i mortali possano conoscere le sue opere.

Into the hand of every man he sealeth, For the knowledge by all men of His work.

8 L e fiere entrano nei loro nascondigli rimangono nelle loro tane.

And enter doth the beast into covert, And in its habitations it doth continue.

9 D ai piú remoti recessi del sud viene l'uragano, e il freddo dai gelidi venti del nord.

From the inner chamber cometh a hurricane, And from scatterings winds -- cold,

10 A l soffio di Dio si forma il ghiaccio e la distesa delle acque si ritira.

From the breath of God is frost given, And the breadth of waters is straitened,

11 C arica le dense nubi di umidità e di sperde lontano le sue nubi luminose.

Yea, by filling He doth press out a cloud, Scatter a cloud doth His light.

12 E sse vagano ovunque nel cielo, cambiando direzione in base alla sua guida per compiere qualunque cosa egli manda loro sulla faccia della terra abitata.

And it is turning itself round by His counsels, For their doing all He commandeth them, On the face of the habitable earth.

13 L e manda o per castigo o per la sua terra o per bontà.

Whether for a rod, or for His land, Or for kindness -- He doth cause it to come.

14 P orgi l'orecchio a questo, o Giobbe, fermati e considera le meraviglie di Dio!

Hear this, O Job, Stand and consider the wonders of God.

15 S ai tu come Dio le diriga e come faccia brillare il lampo delle sue nubi?

Dost thou know when God doth place them, And caused to shine the light of His cloud?

16 S ai tu come le nubi si librino nell'aria, le meraviglie di colui che sa tutto?

Dost thou know the balancings of a cloud? The wonders of the Perfect in knowledge?

17 S ai tu perché i tuoi abiti sono caldi, quando la terra si riposa a motivo dello scirocco?

How thy garments warm, In the quieting of the earth from the south?

18 H ai tu forse disteso con lui il firmamento, rendendolo solido come uno specchio di metallo fuso?

Thou hast made an expanse with Him For the clouds -- strong as a hard mirror!

19 I nsegnaci che cosa dobbiamo dirgli, perchè noi non possiamo preparare il nostro caso per l'oscurità.

Let us know what we say to Him, We set not in array because of darkness.

20 G li si può forse dire che io voglio parlare? Se un uomo dovesse parlare, sarebbe certamente distrutto.

Is it declared to Him that I speak? If a man hath spoken, surely he is swallowed up.

21 A nche ora nessuno può guardare fisso il sole quando splende in cielo, dopo che è passato il vento e l'ha reso terso.

And now, they have not seen the light, Bright it in the clouds, And the wind hath passed by and cleanseth them.

22 I l bel tempo viene dal nord, ma intorno a Dio è tremenda maestà.

From the golden north it cometh, Beside God fearful honour.

23 L 'Onnipotente noi non lo possiamo raggiungere. Egli è sublime in potenza, in rettitudine e nella sua grande giustizia; egli non opprime alcuno.

The Mighty! we have not found Him out, High in power and judgment, He doth not answer! And abundant in righteousness,

24 P er questo gli uomini lo temono; ma egli non tiene conto di chi si ritiene sapiente».

Therefore do men fear Him, He seeth not any of the wise of heart.
