1 S obre isso também treme o meu coração, e salta do seu lugar.

Also, at this my heart trembleth, And it moveth from its place.

2 D ai atentamente ouvidos ao estrondo da voz de Deus e ao sonido que sai da sua boca.

Hearken diligently to the trembling of His voice, Yea, the sound from His mouth goeth forth.

3 E le o envia por debaixo de todo o céu, e o seu relâmpago até os confins da terra.

Under the whole heavens He directeth it, And its light over the skirts of the earth.

4 D epois do relâmpago ruge uma grande voz; ele troveja com a sua voz majestosa; e não retarda os raios, quando é ouvida a sua voz.

After it roar doth a voice -- He thundereth with the voice of His excellency, And He doth not hold them back, When His voice is heard.

5 C om a sua voz troveja Deus maravilhosamente; faz grandes coisas, que nós não compreendemos.

God thundereth with His voice wonderfully, Doing great things and we know not.

6 P ois ã neve diz: Cai sobre a terra; como também

For to snow He saith, `Be the earth.' And the small rain and great rain of His power.

7 E le sela as mãos de todo homem, para que todos saibam que ele os fez.

Into the hand of every man he sealeth, For the knowledge by all men of His work.

8 E as feras entram nos esconderijos e ficam nos seus covis.

And enter doth the beast into covert, And in its habitations it doth continue.

9 D a recâmara do sul sai o tufão, e do norte o frio.

From the inner chamber cometh a hurricane, And from scatterings winds -- cold,

10 A o sopro de Deus forma-se o gelo, e as largas águas são congeladas.

From the breath of God is frost given, And the breadth of waters is straitened,

11 T ambém de umidade carrega as grossas nuvens; as nuvens espalham relâmpagos.

Yea, by filling He doth press out a cloud, Scatter a cloud doth His light.

12 F azem evoluções sob a sua direção, para efetuar tudo quanto lhes ordena sobre a superfície do mundo habitável:

And it is turning itself round by His counsels, For their doing all He commandeth them, On the face of the habitable earth.

13 s eja para disciplina, ou para a sua terra, ou para beneficência, que as faça vir.

Whether for a rod, or for His land, Or for kindness -- He doth cause it to come.

14 A isto, Jó, inclina os teus ouvidos; pára e considera as obras maravilhosas de Deus.

Hear this, O Job, Stand and consider the wonders of God.

15 S abes tu como Deus lhes dá as suas ordens, e faz resplandecer o relâmpago da sua nuvem?

Dost thou know when God doth place them, And caused to shine the light of His cloud?

16 C ompreendes o equilíbrio das nuvens, e as maravilhas daquele que é perfeito nos conhecimentos;

Dost thou know the balancings of a cloud? The wonders of the Perfect in knowledge?

17 t u cujas vestes são quentes, quando há calma sobre a terra por causa do vento sul?

How thy garments warm, In the quieting of the earth from the south?

18 A caso podes, como ele, estender o firmamento, que é sólido como um espelho fundido?

Thou hast made an expanse with Him For the clouds -- strong as a hard mirror!

19 E nsina-nos o que lhe diremos; pois nós nada poderemos pôr em boa ordem, por causa das trevas.

Let us know what we say to Him, We set not in array because of darkness.

20 C ontar-lhe-ia alguém que eu quero falar. Ou desejaria um homem ser devorado?

Is it declared to Him that I speak? If a man hath spoken, surely he is swallowed up.

21 E agora o homem não pode olhar para o sol, que resplandece no céu quando o vento, tendo passado, o deixa limpo.

And now, they have not seen the light, Bright it in the clouds, And the wind hath passed by and cleanseth them.

22 D o norte vem o áureo esplendor; em Deus há tremenda majestade.

From the golden north it cometh, Beside God fearful honour.

23 Q uanto ao Todo-Poderoso, não o podemos compreender; grande é em poder e justiça e pleno de retidão; a ninguém, pois, oprimirá.

The Mighty! we have not found Him out, High in power and judgment, He doth not answer! And abundant in righteousness,

24 P or isso o temem os homens; ele não respeita os que se julgam sábios.

Therefore do men fear Him, He seeth not any of the wise of heart.
