1 Q ue diremos, pois? Permaneceremos no pecado, para que abunde a graça?

What, then, shall we say? shall we continue in the sin that the grace may abound?

2 D e modo nenhum. Nós, que já morremos para o pecado, como viveremos ainda nele?

let it not be! we who died to the sin -- how shall we still live in it?

3 O u, porventura, ignorais que todos quantos fomos batizados em Cristo Jesus fomos batizados na sua morte?

are ye ignorant that we, as many as were baptized to Christ Jesus, to his death were baptized?

4 F omos, pois, sepultados com ele pelo batismo na morte, para que, como Cristo foi ressuscitado dentre os mortos pela glória do Pai, assim andemos nós também em novidade de vida.

we were buried together, then, with him through the baptism to the death, that even as Christ was raised up out of the dead through the glory of the Father, so also we in newness of life might walk.

5 P orque, se temos sido unidos a ele na semelhança da sua morte, certamente também o seremos na semelhança da sua ressurreição;

For, if we have become planted together to the likeness of his death, also we shall be of the rising again;

6 s abendo isto, que o nosso homem velho foi crucificado com ele, para que o corpo do pecado fosse desfeito, a fim de não servirmos mais ao pecado.

this knowing, that our old man was crucified with, that the body of the sin may be made useless, for our no longer serving the sin;

7 P ois quem está morto está justificado do pecado.

for he who hath died hath been set free from the sin.

8 O ra, se já morremos com Cristo, cremos que também com ele viveremos,

And if we died with Christ, we believe that we also shall live with him,

9 s abendo que, tendo Cristo ressurgido dentre os mortos, já não morre mais; a morte não mais tem domínio sobre ele.

knowing that Christ, having been raised up out of the dead, doth no more die, death over him hath no more lordship;

10 P ois quanto a ter morrido, de uma vez por todas morreu para o pecado, mas quanto a viver, vive para Deus.

for in that he died, to the sin he died once, and in that he liveth, he liveth to God;

11 A ssim também vós considerai-vos como mortos para o pecado, mas vivos para Deus, em Cristo Jesus.

so also ye, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to the sin, and living to God in Jesus Christ our Lord.

12 N ão reine, portanto, o pecado em vosso corpo mortal, para obedecerdes

Let not then the sin reign in your mortal body, to obey it in its desires;

13 n em tampouco apresenteis os vossos membros ao pecado como instrumentos de iniqüidade; mas apresentai-vos a Deus, como redivivos dentre os mortos, e os vossos membros a Deus, como instrumentos de justiça.

neither present ye your members instruments of unrighteousness to the sin, but present yourselves to God as living out of the dead, and your members instruments of righteousness to God;

14 P ois o pecado não terá domínio sobre vós, porquanto não estais debaixo da lei, mas debaixo da graça.

for sin over you shall not have lordship, for ye are not under law, but under grace.

15 P ois quê? Havemos de pecar porque não estamos debaixo da lei, mas debaixo da graça? De modo nenhum.

What then? shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? let it not be!

16 N ão sabeis que daquele a quem vos apresentais como servos para lhe obedecer, sois servos desse mesmo a quem obedeceis, seja do pecado para a morte, ou da obediência para a justiça?

have ye not known that to whom ye present yourselves servants for obedience, servants ye are to him to whom ye obey, whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?

17 M as graças a Deus que, embora tendo sido servos do pecado, obedecestes de coração ã forma de doutrina a que fostes entregues;

and thanks to God, that ye were servants of the sin, and -- were obedient from the heart to the form of teaching to which ye were delivered up;

18 e libertos do pecado, fostes feitos servos da justiça.

and having been freed from the sin, ye became servants to the righteousness.

19 F alo como homem, por causa da fraqueza da vossa carne. Pois assim como apresentastes os vossos membros como servos da impureza e da iniqüidade para iniqüidade, assim apresentai agora os vossos membros como servos da justiça para santificação.

In the manner of men I speak, because of the weakness of your flesh, for even as ye did present your members servants to the uncleanness and to the lawlessness -- to the lawlessness, so now present your members servants to the righteousness -- to sanctification,

20 P orque, quando éreis servos do pecado, estáveis livres em relação ã justiça.

for when ye were servants of the sin, ye were free from the righteousness,

21 E que fruto tínheis então das coisas de que agora vos envergonhais? pois o fim delas é a morte.

what fruit, therefore, were ye having then, in the things of which ye are now ashamed? for the end of those death.

22 M as agora, libertos do pecado, e feitos servos de Deus, tendes o vosso fruto para santificação, e por fim a vida eterna.

And now, having been freed from the sin, and having become servants to God, ye have your fruit -- to sanctification, and the end life age-during;

23 P orque o salário do pecado é a morte, mas o dom gratuito de Deus é a vida eterna em Cristo Jesus nosso Senhor.

for the wages of the sin death, and the gift of God life age-during in Christ Jesus our Lord.
