1 O ra, Jesus, tendo saído do templo, ia-se retirando, quando se aproximaram dele os seus discípulos, para lhe mostrarem os edifícios do templo.

And having gone forth, Jesus departed from the temple, and his disciples came near to show him the buildings of the temple,

2 M as ele lhes disse: Não vedes tudo isto? Em verdade vos digo que não se deixará aqui pedra sobre pedra que não seja derribada.

and Jesus said to them, `Do ye not see all these? verily I say to you, There may not be left here a stone upon a stone, that shall not be thrown down.'

3 E estando ele sentado no Monte das Oliveiras, chegaram-se a ele os seus discípulos em particular, dizendo: Declara-nos quando serão essas coisas, e que sinal haverá da tua vinda e do fim do mundo.

And when he is sitting on the mount of the Olives, the disciples came near to him by himself, saying, `Tell us, when shall these be? and what the sign of thy presence, and of the full end of the age?'

4 R espondeu-lhes Jesus: Acautelai-vos, que ninguém vos engane.

And Jesus answering said to them, `Take heed that no one may lead you astray,

5 P orque muitos virão em meu nome, dizendo: Eu sou o Cristo; a muitos enganarão.

for many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and they shall lead many astray,

6 E ouvireis falar de guerras e rumores de guerras; olhai não vos perturbeis; porque forçoso é que assim aconteça; mas ainda não é o fim.

and ye shall begin to hear of wars, and reports of wars; see, be not troubled, for it behoveth all to come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 P orquanto se levantará nação contra nação, e reino contra reino; e haverá fomes e terremotos em vários lugares.

`For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places;

8 M as todas essas coisas são o princípio das dores.

and all these the beginning of sorrows;

9 E ntão sereis entregues ã tortura, e vos matarão; e sereis odiados de todas as nações por causa do meu nome.

then they shall deliver you up to tribulation, and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated by all the nations because of my name;

10 N esse tempo muitos hão de se escandalizar, e trair-se uns aos outros, e mutuamente se odiarão.

and then shall many be stumbled, and they shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another.

11 I gualmente hão de surgir muitos falsos profetas, e enganarão a muitos;

`And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray;

12 e , por se multiplicar a iniquidade, o amor de muitos esfriará.

and because of the abounding of the lawlessness, the love of the many shall become cold;

13 M as quem perseverar até o fim, esse será salvo.

but he who did endure to the end, he shall be saved;

14 E este evangelho do reino será pregado no mundo inteiro, em testemunho a todas as nações, e então virá o fim.

and this good news of the reign shall be proclaimed in all the world, for a testimony to all the nations; and then shall the end arrive.

15 Q uando, pois, virdes estar no lugar santo a abominação de desolação, predita pelo profeta Daniel (quem lê, entenda),

`Whenever, therefore, ye may see the abomination of the desolation, that was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (whoever is reading let him observe)

16 e ntão os que estiverem na Judéia fujam para os montes;

then those in Judea -- let them flee to the mounts;

17 q uem estiver no eirado não desça para tirar as coisas de sua casa,

he on the house-top -- let him not come down to take up any thing out of his house;

18 e quem estiver no campo não volte atrás para apanhar a sua capa.

and he in the field -- let him not turn back to take his garments.

19 M as ai das que estiverem grávidas, e das que amamentarem naqueles dias!

`And wo to those with child, and to those giving suck in those days;

20 O rai para que a vossa fuga não suceda no inverno nem no sábado;

and pray ye that your flight may not be in winter, nor on a sabbath;

21 p orque haverá então uma tribulação tão grande, como nunca houve desde o princípio do mundo até agora, nem jamais haverá.

for there shall be then great tribulation, such as was not from the beginning of the world till now, no, nor may be.

22 E se aqueles dias não fossem abreviados, ninguém se salvaria; mas por causa dos escolhidos serão abreviados aqueles dias.

And if those days were not shortened, no flesh would have been saved; but because of the chosen, shall those days be shortened.

23 S e, pois, alguém vos disser: Eis aqui o Cristo! ou: Ei-lo aí! não acrediteis;

`Then if any one may say to you, Lo, here the Christ! or here! ye may not believe;

24 p orque hão de surgir falsos cristos e falsos profetas, e farão grandes sinais e prodígios; de modo que, se possível fora, enganariam até os escolhidos.

for there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and they shall give great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, also the chosen.

25 E is que de antemão vo-lo tenho dito.

Lo, I did tell you beforehand.

26 P ortanto, se vos disserem: Eis que ele está no deserto; não saiais; ou: Eis que ele está no interior da casa; não acrediteis.

`If therefore they may say to you, Lo, in the wilderness he is, ye may not go forth; lo, in the inner chambers, ye may not believe;

27 P orque, assim como o relâmpago sai do oriente e se mostra até o ocidente, assim será também a vinda do filho do homem.

for as the lightning doth come forth from the east, and doth appear unto the west, so shall be also the presence of the Son of Man;

28 P ois onde estiver o cadáver, aí se ajuntarão os abutres.

for wherever the carcase may be, there shall the eagles be gathered together.

29 L ogo depois da tribulação daqueles dias, escurecerá o sol, e a lua não dará a sua luz; as estrelas cairão do céu e os poderes dos céus serão abalados.

`And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken;

30 E ntão aparecerá no céu o sinal do Filho do homem, e todas as tribos da terra se lamentarão, e verão vir o Filho do homem sobre as nuvens do céu, com poder e grande glória.

and then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in the heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth smite the breast, and they shall see the Son of Man coming upon the clouds of the heaven, with power and much glory;

31 E ele enviará os seus anjos com grande clangor de trombeta, os quais lhe ajuntarão os escolhidos desde os quatro ventos, de uma ã outra extremidade dos céus.

and he shall send his messengers with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his chosen from the four winds, from the ends of the heavens unto the ends thereof.

32 A prendei, pois, da figueira a sua parábola: Quando já o seu ramo se torna tenro e brota folhas, sabeis que está próximo o verão.

`And from the fig-tree learn ye the simile: When already its branch may have become tender, and the leaves it may put forth, ye know that summer nigh,

33 I gualmente, quando virdes todas essas coisas, sabei que ele está próximo, mesmo

so also ye, when ye may see all these, ye know that it is nigh -- at the doors.

34 E m verdade vos digo que não passará esta geração sem que todas essas coisas se cumpram.

Verily I say to you, this generation may not pass away till all these may come to pass.

35 P assará o céu e a terra, mas as minhas palavras jamais passarão.

The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

36 D aquele dia e hora, porém, ninguém sabe, nem os anjos do céu, nem o Filho, senão só o Pai.

`And concerning that day and the hour no one hath known -- not even the messengers of the heavens -- except my Father only;

37 P ois como foi dito nos dias de Noé, assim será também a vinda do Filho do homem.

and as the days of Noah -- so shall be also the presence of the Son of Man;

38 P orquanto, assim como nos dias anteriores ao dilúvio, comiam, bebiam, casavam e davam-se em casamento, até o dia em que Noé entrou na arca,

for as they were, in the days before the flood, eating, and drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage, till the day Noah entered into the ark,

39 e não o perceberam, até que veio o dilúvio, e os levou a todos; assim será também a vinda do Filho do homem.

and they did not know till the flood came and took all away; so shall be also the presence of the Son of Man.

40 E ntão, estando dois homens no campo, será levado um e deixado outro;

Then two men shall be in the field, the one is received, and the one is left;

41 e stando duas mulheres a trabalhar no moinho, será levada uma e deixada a outra.

two women shall be grinding in the mill, one is received, and one is left.

42 V igiai, pois, porque não sabeis em que dia vem o vosso Senhor;

`Watch ye therefore, because ye have not known in what hour your Lord doth come;

43 s abei, porém, isto: se o dono da casa soubesse a que vigília da noite havia de vir o ladrão, vigiaria e não deixaria minar a sua casa.

and this know, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief doth come, he had watched, and not suffered his house to be broken through;

44 P or isso ficai também vós apercebidos; porque numa hora em que não penseis, virá o Filho do homem.

because of this also ye, become ye ready, because in what hour ye do not think, the Son of Man doth come.

45 Q uem é, pois, o servo fiel e prudente, que o senhor pôs sobre os seus serviçais, para a tempo dar-lhes o sustento?

`Who, then, is the servant, faithful and wise, whom his lord did set over his household, to give them the nourishment in season?

46 B em-aventurado aquele servo a quem o seu senhor, quando vier, achar assim fazendo.

Happy that servant, whom his lord, having come, shall find doing so;

47 E m verdade vos digo que o porá sobre todos os seus bens.

verily I say to you, that over all his substance he will set him.

48 M as se aquele outro, o mau servo, disser no seu coração: Meu senhor tarda em vir,

`And, if that evil servant may say in his heart, My Lord doth delay to come,

49 e começar a espancar os seus conservos, e a comer e beber com os ébrios,

and may begin to beat the fellow-servants, and to eat and to drink with the drunken,

50 v irá o senhor daquele servo, num dia em que não o espera, e numa hora de que não sabe,

the lord of that servant will arrive in a day when he doth not expect, and in an hour of which he doth not know,

51 e cortá-lo-á pelo meio, e lhe dará a sua parte com os hipócritas; ali haverá choro e ranger de dentes.

and will cut him off, and his portion with the hypocrites will appoint; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.
