1 A i dos que vivem sossegados em Sião, e dos que estão seguros no monte de Samária, dos homens notáveis da principal das nações, e aos quais vem a casa de Israel!

Wo those secure in Zion, And those confident in the mount of Samaria, The marked of the chief of the nations, And come to them have the house of Israel.

2 P assai a Calné, e vede; e dali ide ã grande Hamate; depois descei a Gate dos filisteus; porventura são melhores que estes reinos? ou são maiores os seus termos do que os vossos termos?

Pass ye over Calneh and see, And go thence Hamath the great, And go down Gath of the Philistines, Are better than these kingdoms? Greater their border than your border?

3 ó vós que afastais o dia mau e fazeis que se aproxime o assento da violência.

Who are putting away the day of evil, And ye bring nigh the seat of violence,

4 A i dos que dormem em camas de marfim, e se estendem sobre os seus leitos, e comem os cordeiros tirados do rebanho, e os bezerros do meio do curral;

Who are lying down on beds of ivory, And are spread out on their couches, And are eating lambs from the flock, And calves from the midst of the stall,

5 q ue garganteiam ao som da lira, e inventam para si instrumentos músicos, assim como Davi;

Who are taking part according to the psaltery, Like David they invented for themselves instruments of music;

6 q ue bebem vinho em taças, e se ungem com o mais excelente óleo; mas não se afligem por causa da ruína de José!

Who are drinking with bowls of wine, And chief perfumes anoint, And have not been pained for the breach of Joseph.

7 P ortanto agora irão em cativeiro entre os primeiros que forem cativos; e cessarão os festins dos banqueteadores.

Therefore now they remove at the head of the captives, And turned aside is the mourning-feast of stretched-out ones.

8 J urou o Senhor Deus por si mesmo, diz o Senhor Deus dos exércitos: Abomino a soberba de Jacó, e odeio os seus palácios; por isso entregarei a cidade e tudo o que nela há.

Sworn hath the Lord Jehovah by Himself, An affirmation of Jehovah, God of Hosts: I am abominating the excellency of Jacob, And his high places I have hated, And I have delivered up the city and its fulness.

9 E se ficarem de resto dez homens numa casa, morrerão.

And if there are left ten persons in one house, It hath come to pass -- that they have died.

10 Q uando o parente de alguém, aquele que o queima, o tomar para levar-lhe os ossos para fora da casa, e disser ao que estiver no mais interior da casa: Está ainda alguém contigo? e este responder: Ninguém; então lhe dirá ele: Cala-te, porque não devemos fazer menção do nome do Senhor.

And lifted him up hath his loved one, even his burner, To bring forth the bones from the house, And he said to him who in the sides of the house, `Is there yet with thee?' And he said, `None,' then he said, `Hush! Save to make mention of the name of Jehovah.'

11 P ois eis que o Senhor ordena, e a casa grande será despedaçada, e a casa pequena reduzida a fragmentos.

For lo, Jehovah is commanding, And He hath smitten the great house breaches, And the little house clefts.

12 A caso correrão cavalos pelos rochedos? Lavrar-se-á ali com bois? Mas vós haveis tornado o juízo em fel, e o fruto da justiça em alosna;

Do horses run on a rock? Doth one plough with oxen? For ye have turned to gall judgment, And the fruit of righteousness to wormwood.

13 v ós que vos alegrais de nada, vós que dizeis: Não nos temos nós tornado poderosos por nossa própria força?

O ye who are rejoicing at nothing, Who are saying, `Have we not by our strength taken to ourselves horns?'

14 P ois eis que eu levantarei contra vós, ó casa de Israel, uma nação, diz o Senhor Deus dos exércitos, e ela vos oprimirá, desde a entrada de Hamate até o ribeiro da Arabá.

Surely, lo, I am raising against you a nation, O house of Israel, An affirmation of Jehovah, God of Hosts, And they have oppressed you from the coming in to Hamath, Unto the stream of the desert.
