1 S ucedeu, depois destas coisas, que Deus provou a Abraão, dizendo-lhe: Abraão! E este respondeu: Eis-me aqui.

And it cometh to pass after these things that God hath tried Abraham, and saith unto him, `Abraham;' and he saith, `Here I.'

2 P rosseguiu Deus: Toma agora teu filho; o teu único filho, Isaque, a quem amas; vai ã terra de Moriá, e oferece-o ali em holocausto sobre um dos montes que te hei de mostrar.

And He saith, `Take, I pray thee, thy son, thine only one, whom thou hast loved, even Isaac, and go for thyself unto the land of Moriah, and cause him to ascend there for a burnt-offering on one of the mountains of which I speak unto thee.'

3 L evantou-se, pois, Abraão de manhã cedo, albardou o seu jumento, e tomou consigo dois de seus moços e Isaque, seu filho; e, tendo cortado lenha para o holocausto, partiu para ir ao lugar que Deus lhe dissera.

And Abraham riseth early in the morning, and saddleth his ass, and taketh two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and he cleaveth the wood of the burnt-offering, and riseth and goeth unto the place of which God hath spoken to him.

4 A o terceiro dia levantou Abraão os olhos, e viu o lugar de longe.

On the third day -- Abraham lifteth up his eyes, and seeth the place from afar;

5 E disse Abraão a seus moços: Ficai-vos aqui com o jumento, e eu e o mancebo iremos até lá; depois de adorarmos, voltaremos a vós.

and Abraham saith unto his young men, `Remain by yourselves here with the ass, and I and the youth go yonder and worship, and turn back unto you.'

6 T omou, pois, Abraão a lenha do holocausto e a pôs sobre Isaque, seu filho; tomou também na mão o fogo e o cutelo, e foram caminhando juntos.

And Abraham taketh the wood of the burnt-offering, and placeth on Isaac his son, and he taketh in his hand the fire, and the knife; and they go on both of them together.

7 E ntão disse Isaque a Abraão, seu pai: Meu pai! Respondeu Abraão: Eis-me aqui, meu filho! Perguntou-lhe Isaque: Eis o fogo e a lenha, mas onde está o cordeiro para o holocausto?

And Isaac speaketh unto Abraham his father, and saith, `My father,' and he saith, `Here I, my son.' And he saith, `Lo, the fire and the wood, and where the lamb for a burnt-offering?'

8 R espondeu Abraão: Deus proverá para si o cordeiro para o holocausto, meu filho. E os dois iam caminhando juntos.

and Abraham saith, `God doth provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son;' and they go on both of them together.

9 H avendo eles chegado ao lugar que Deus lhe dissera, edificou Abraão ali o altar e pôs a lenha em ordem; o amarrou, a Isaque, seu filho, e o deitou sobre o altar em cima da lenha.

And they come in unto the place of which God hath spoken to him, and there Abraham buildeth the altar, and arrangeth the wood, and bindeth Isaac his son, and placeth him upon the altar above the wood;

10 E , estendendo a mão, pegou no cutelo para imolar a seu filho.

and Abraham putteth forth his hand, and taketh the knife -- to slaughter his son.

11 M as o anjo do Senhor lhe bradou desde o céu, e disse: Abraão, Abraão! Ele respondeu: Eis-me aqui.

And the messenger of Jehovah calleth unto him from the heavens, and saith, `Abraham, Abraham;' and he saith, `Here I;'

12 E ntão disse o anjo: Não estendas a mão sobre o mancebo, e não lhe faças nada; porquanto agora sei que temes a Deus, visto que não me negaste teu filho, o teu único filho.

and He saith, `Put not forth thine hand unto the youth, nor do anything to him, for now I have known that thou art fearing God, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one, from Me.'

13 N isso levantou Abraão os olhos e olhou, e eis atrás de si um carneiro embaraçado pelos chifres no mato; e foi Abraão, tomou o carneiro e o ofereceu em holocausto em lugar de seu filho.

And Abraham lifteth up his eyes, and looketh, and lo, a ram behind, seized in a thicket by its horns; and Abraham goeth, and taketh the ram, and causeth it to ascend for a burnt-offering instead of his son;

14 P elo que chamou Abraão

and Abraham calleth the name of that place `Jehovah-Jireh,' because it is said this day in the mount, `Jehovah doth provide.'

15 E ntão o anjo do Senhor bradou a Abraão pela segunda vez desde o céu,

And the messenger of Jehovah calleth unto Abraham a second time from the heavens,

16 e disse: Por mim mesmo jurei, diz o Senhor, porquanto fizeste isto, e não me negaste teu filho, o teu único filho,

and saith, `By Myself I have sworn -- the affirmation of Jehovah -- that because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one --

17 q ue deveras te abençoarei, e grandemente multiplicarei a tua descendência, como as estrelas do céu e como a areia que está na praia do mar; e a tua descendência possuirá a porta dos seus inimigos;

that blessing I bless thee, and multiplying I multiply thy seed as stars of the heavens, and as sand which on the sea-shore; and thy seed doth possess the gate of his enemies;

18 e em tua descendência serão benditas todas as nações da terra; porquanto obedeceste ã minha voz.

and blessed themselves in thy seed have all nations of the earth, because that thou hast hearkened to My voice.'

19 E ntão voltou Abraão aos seus moços e, levantando-se, foram juntos a Beer-Seba; e Abraão habitou em Beer-Seba.

And Abraham turneth back unto his young men, and they rise and go together unto Beer-Sheba; and Abraham dwelleth in Beer-Sheba.

20 D epois destas coisas anunciaram a Abraão, dizendo: Eis que também Milca tem dado ã luz filhos a Naor, teu irmão:

And it cometh to pass after these things that it is declared to Abraham, saying, `Lo, Milcah hath borne, even she, sons to Nahor thy brother:

21 U z o seu primogênito, e Buz seu irmão, e Quemuel, pai de Arão,

Huz his first-born, and Buz his brother; and Kemuel father of Aram,

22 e Quesede, Hazo, Pildas, Jidlafe e Betuel.

and Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel;

23 E Betuel gerou a Rebeca. Esses oito deu ã luz Milca a Naor, irmão de Abraão.

and Bethuel hath begotten Rebekah;' these eight hath Milcah borne to Nahor, Abraham's brother;

24 E a sua concubina, que se chamava Reumá, também deu ã luz a Teba, Gaão, Taás e Maacá.

and his concubine, whose name Reumah, she also hath borne Tebah, and Gaham, and Tahash, and Maachah.
