1 E disse eu: Ouvi, peço-vos, ó chefes de Jacó, e vós, ó príncipes da casa de Israel: não é a vós que pertence saber a justiça?

And I say, `Hear, I pray you, heads of Jacob, And ye judges of the house of Israel, Is it not for you to know the judgment?

2 A vós que aborreceis o bem, e amais o mal, que arrancais a pele de cima deles, e a carne de cima dos seus ossos,

Ye who are hating good, and loving evil, Taking violently their skin from off them, And their flesh from off their bones,

3 o s que também comeis a carne do meu povo e lhes arrancais a pele, e lhes esmiuçais os ossos, e os repartis em pedaços como para a panela e como carne dentro do caldeirão.

And who have eaten the flesh of My people, And their skin from off them have stript, And their bones they have broken, And they have spread out as in a pot, And as flesh in the midst of a caldron.

4 E ntão clamarão ao Senhor; ele, porém, não lhes responderá, antes esconderá deles a sua face naquele tempo, conforme eles fizeram mal nas suas obras.

Then do they cry unto Jehovah, And He doth not answer them, And hideth His face from them at that time, As they have made evil their doings.

5 A ssim diz o Senhor a respeito dos profetas que fazem errar o meu povo, que clamam: Paz! enquanto têm o que comer, mas preparam a guerra contra aquele que nada lhes mete na boca.

Thus said Jehovah concerning the prophets Who are causing My people to err, Who are biting with their teeth, And have cried `Peace,' And he who doth not give unto their mouth, They have sanctified against him war.

6 P ortanto se vos fará noite sem visão; e trevas sem adivinhação haverá para vós. Assim se porá o sol sobre os profetas, e sobre eles, obscurecerá o dia.

Therefore a night ye have without vision, And darkness ye have without divination, And gone in hath the sun on the prophets, And black over them hath been the day.

7 E os videntes se envergonharão, e os adivinhadores se confundirão; sim, todos eles cobrirão os seus lábios, porque não haverá resposta de Deus.

And ashamed have been the seers, And confounded have been the diviners, And covered their lip have all of them, For their is no answer, O God.

8 Q uanto a mim, estou cheio do poder do Espírito do Senhor, assim como de justiça e de coragem, para declarar a Jacó a sua transgressão e a Israel o seu pecado.

And yet I have been full of power by the Spirit of Jehovah, And of judgment, and of might, To declare to Jacob his transgression, And to Israel his sin.

9 O uvi agora isto, vós chefes da casa de Jacó, e vós governantes da casa de Israel, que abominais a justiça e perverteis tudo o que é direito,

Hear this, I pray you, heads of the house of Jacob, And ye judges of the house of Israel, Who are making judgment abominable, And all uprightness do pervert.

10 e dificando a Sião com sangue, e a Jerusalém com iniqüidade.

Building up Zion with blood, And Jerusalem with iniquity.

11 O s seus chefes dão as sentenças por peitas, e os seus sacerdotes ensinam por interesse, e os seus profetas adivinham por dinheiro; e ainda se encostam ao Senhor, dizendo: Não está o Senhor no meio de nós? nenhum mal nos sobrevirá.

Her heads for a bribe do judge, And her priests for hire do teach, And her prophets for silver divine, And on Jehovah they lean, saying, `Is not Jehovah in our midst? Evil doth not come in upon us.'

12 P ortanto, por causa de vós, Sião será lavrada como um campo, e Jerusalém se tornará em montões de pedras, e o monte desta casa em lugares altos dum bosque.

Therefore, for your sake, Zion is ploughed a field, and Jerusalem is heaps, And the mount of the house for high places of a forest!
