1 I nclinai os ouvidos, ó céus, e falarei; e ouça a terra as palavras da minha boca.

`Give ear, O heavens, and I speak; And thou dost hear, O earth, sayings of my mouth!

2 C aia como a chuva a minha doutrina; destile a minha palavra como o orvalho, como chuvisco sobre a erva e como chuvas sobre a relva.

Drop as rain doth My doctrine; Flow as dew doth My sayings; As storms on the tender grass, And as showers on the herb,

3 P orque proclamarei o nome do Senhor; engrandecei o nosso Deus.

For the Name of Jehovah I proclaim, Ascribe ye greatness to our God!

4 E le é a Rocha; suas obras são perfeitas, porque todos os seus caminhos são justos; Deus é fiel e sem iniqüidade; justo e reto é ele.

The Rock! -- perfect His work, For all His ways just; God of stedfastness, and without iniquity: Righteous and upright He.

5 C orromperam-se contra ele; não são seus filhos, e isso é a sua mancha; geração perversa e depravada é.

It hath done corruptly to Him; Their blemish is not His sons', A generation perverse and crooked!

6 É assim que recompensas ao Senhor, povo louco e insensato? não é ele teu pai, que te adquiriu, que te fez e te estabeleceu?

To Jehovah do ye act thus, O people foolish and not wise? Is not He thy father -- thy possessor? He made thee, and doth establish thee.

7 L embra-te dos dias da antigüidade, atenta para os anos, geração por geração; pergunta a teu pai, e ele te informará, aos teus anciãos, e eles to dirão.

Remember days of old -- Understand the years of many generations -- Ask thy father, and he doth tell thee; Thine elders, and they say to thee:

8 Q uando o Altíssimo dava

In the Most High causing nations to inherit, In His separating sons of Adam -- He setteth up the borders of the peoples By the number of the sons of Israel.

9 P orque a porção do Senhor é o seu povo; Jacó é a parte da sua herança.

For Jehovah's portion His people, Jacob the line of His inheritance.

10 A chou-o numa terra deserta, e num erma de solidão e horrendos uivos; cercou-o de proteção; cuidou dele, guardando-o como a menina do seu olho.

He findeth him in a land -- a desert, And in a void -- a howling wilderness, He turneth him round -- He causeth him to understand -- He keepeth him as the apple of His eye.

11 C omo a águia desperta o seu ninho, adeja sobre os seus filhos e, estendendo as suas asas, toma-os, e os leva sobre as suas asas,

As an eagle waketh up its nest, Over its young ones fluttereth, Spreadeth its wings -- taketh them, Beareth them on its pinions; --

12 a ssim só o Senhor o guiou, e não havia com ele deus estranho.

Jehovah alone doth lead him, And there is no strange god with him.

13 E le o fez cavalgar sobre as alturas da terra, e comer os frutos do campo; também o fez chupar mel da rocha e azeite da dura pederneira,

He maketh him ride on high places of earth, And he eateth increase of the fields, And He maketh him suck honey from a rock, And oil out of the flint of a rock;

14 c oalhada das vacas e leite das ovelhas, com a gordura dos cordeiros, dos carneiros de Basã, e dos bodes, com o mais fino trigo; e por vinho bebeste o sangue das uvas.

Butter of the herd, and milk of the flock, With fat of lambs, and rams, sons of Bashan, And he-goats, with fat of kidneys of wheat; And of the blood of the grape thou dost drink wine!

15 E Jesurum, engordando, recalcitrou (tu engordaste, tu te engrossaste e te cevaste); então abandonou a Deus, que o fez, e desprezou a Rocha da sua salvação.

And Jeshurun waxeth fat, and doth kick: Thou hast been fat -- thou hast been thick, Thou hast been covered. And he leaveth God who made him, And dishonoureth the Rock of his salvation.

16 C om deuses estranhos o moveram a zelos; com abominações o provocaram ã ira:

They make Him zealous with strangers, With abominations they make Him angry.

17 O fereceram sacrifícios aos demônios, não a Deus, a deuses que não haviam conhecido, deuses novos que apareceram há pouco, aos quais os vossos pais não temeram.

They sacrifice to demons -- no god! Gods they have not known -- New ones -- from the vicinity they came; Not feared them have your fathers!

18 O lvidaste a Rocha que te gerou, e te esqueceste do Deus que te formou.

The Rock that begat thee thou forgettest, And neglectest God who formeth thee.

19 V endo isto, o Senhor os desprezou, por causa da provocação que lhe fizeram seus filhos e suas filhas;

And Jehovah seeth and despiseth -- For the provocation of His sons and His daughters.

20 e disse: Esconderei deles o meu rosto, verei qual será o seu fim, porque geração perversa são eles, filhos em quem não h

And He saith: I hide My face from them, I see what their latter end; For a froward generation they, Sons in whom is no stedfastness.

21 A zelos me provocaram cem aquilo que não é Deus, com as suas vaidades me provocaram ã ira; portanto eu os provocarei a zelos com aquele que não é povo, com uma nação insensata os despertarei ã ira.

They have made Me zealous by `no-god,' They made Me angry by their vanities; And I make them zealous by `no-people,' By a foolish nation I make them angry.

22 P orque um fogo se acendeu na minha ira, e arde até o mais profundo do Seol, e devora a terra com o seu fruto, e abrasa os fundamentos dos montes.

For a fire hath been kindled in Mine anger, And it burneth unto Sheol -- the lowest, And consumeth earth and its increase, And setteth on fire foundations of mountains.

23 M ales amontoarei sobre eles, esgotarei contra eles as minhas setas.

I gather upon them evils, Mine arrows I consume upon them.

24 C onsumidos serão de fome, devorados de raios e de amarga destruição; e contra eles enviarei dentes de feras, juntamente com o veneno dos que se arrastam no pó.

Exhausted by famine, And consumed by heat, and bitter destruction. And the teeth of beasts I send upon them, With poison of fearful things of the dust.

25 P or fora devastará a espada, e por dentro o pavor, tanto ao mancebo como ã virgem, assim ã criança de peito como ao homem encanecido.

Without bereave doth the sword, And at the inner-chambers -- fear, Both youth and virgin, Suckling with man of grey hair.

26 E u teria dito: Por todos os cantos os espalharei, farei cessar a sua memória dentre os homens,

I have said: I blow them away, I cause their remembrance to cease from man;

27 s e eu não receasse a vexação da parte do inimigo, para que os seus adversários, iludindo-se, não dissessem: A nossa mão está exaltada; não foi o Senhor quem fez tudo isso.

If not -- the anger of an enemy I fear, Lest their adversaries know -- Lest they say, Our hand is high, And Jehovah hath not wrought all this.

28 P orque são gente falta de conselhos, e neles não há entendimento.

For a nation lost to counsels they, And there is no understanding in them.

29 S e eles fossem sábios, entenderiam isso, e atentariam para o seu fim!

If they were wise -- They deal wisely this; They attend to their latter end:

30 C omo poderia um só perseguir mil, e dois fazer rugir dez mil, se a sua Rocha não os vendera, e o Senhor não os entregara?

How doth one pursue a thousand, And two cause a myriad to flee! If not -- that their rock hath sold them, And Jehovah hath shut them up?

31 P orque a sua rocha não é como a nossa Rocha, sendo até os nossos inimigos juízes disso.

For not as our Rock their rock, (And our enemies judges!)

32 P orque a sua vinha é da vinha de Sodoma e dos campos de Gomorra; as suas uvas são uvas venenosas, seus cachos são amargos.

For of the vine of Sodom their vine, And of the fields of Gomorrah; Their grapes grapes of gall -- They have bitter clusters;

33 O seu vinho é veneno de serpentes, e peçonha cruel de víboras.

The poison of dragons their wine And the fierce venom of asps.

34 N ão está isto encerrado comigo? selado nos meus tesouros?

Is it not laid up with Me? Sealed among My treasures?

35 M inha é a vingança e a recompensa, ao tempo em que resvalar o seu pé; porque o dia da sua ruína está próximo, e as coisas que lhes hão de suceder se apressam a chegar.

Mine vengeance and recompense, At the due time -- doth their foot slide; For near is a day of their calamity, And haste do things prepared for them.

36 P orque o Senhor vindicará ao seu povo, e se arrependerá no tocante aos seus servos, quando vir que o poder deles já se foi, e que não resta nem escravo nem livre.

For Jehovah doth judge His people, And for His servants doth repent Himself. For He seeth -- the going away of power, And none is restrained and left.

37 E ntão dirá: Onde estão os seus deuses, a rocha em que se refugiavam,

And He hath said, Where their gods -- The rock in which they trusted;

38 o s que comiam a gordura dos sacrifícios deles e bebiam o vinho das suas ofertas de libação? Levantem-se eles, e vos ajudem, a fim de que haja agora refúgio para vós.

Which the fat of their sacrifices do eat, They drink the wine of their libation! Let them arise and help you, Let it be for you a hiding-place!

39 V ede agora que eu, eu o sou, e não há outro deus além de mim; eu faço morrer e eu faço viver; eu firo e eu saro; e não há quem possa livrar da minha mão.

See ye, now, that I -- I He, And there is no god with Me: I put to death, and I keep alive; I have smitten, and I heal; And there is not from My hand a deliverer,

40 P ois levanto a minha mão ao céu, e digo: Como eu vivo para sempre,

For I lift up unto the heavens My hand, And have said, I live -- to the age!

41 s e eu afiar a minha espada reluzente, e a minha mão travar do juízo, então retribuirei vingança aos meus adversários, e recompensarei aos que me odeiam.

If I have sharpened the brightness of My sword, And My hand doth lay hold on judgment, I turn back vengeance to Mine adversaries, And to those hating Me -- I repay!

42 D e sangue embriagarei as minhas setas, e a minha espada devorará carne; do sangue dos mortes e dos cativos, das cabeças cabeludas dos inimigos

I make drunk Mine arrows with blood, And My sword devoureth flesh, From the blood of the pierced and captive, From the head of the freemen of the enemy.

43 A clamai, ó nações, com alegria, o povo dele, porque ele vingará o sangue dos seus servos; aos seus adversários retribuirá vingança, e fará expiação pela sua terra e pelo seu povo.

Sing ye nations -- his people, For the blood of His servants He avengeth, And vengeance He turneth back on His adversaries, And hath pardoned His land -- His people.'

44 V eio, pois, Moisés, e proferiu todas as palavras deste cântico na presença do povo, ele e Oséias, filho de Num.

And Moses cometh and speaketh all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Hoshea son of Nun;

45 E , acabando Moisés de falar todas essas palavras a todo o Israel,

and Moses finisheth to speak all these words unto all Israel,

46 d isse-lhes: Aplicai o vosso coração a todas as palavras que eu hoje vos testifico, as quais haveis de recomendar a vossos filhos, para que tenham cuidado de cumprir todas as palavras desta lei.

and saith unto them, `Set your heart to all the words which I am testifying against you to-day, that ye command your sons to observe to do all the words of this law,

47 P orque esta palavra não vos é vã, mas é a vossa vida, e por esta mesma palavra prolongareis os dias na terra ã qual ides, passando o Jordão, para a possuir.

for it not a vain thing for you, for it your life, and by this thing ye prolong days on the ground whither ye are passing over the Jordan to possess it.'

48 N aquele mesmo dia falou o Senhor a Moisés, dizendo:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, in this self-same day, saying,

49 S obe a este monte de Abarim, ao monte Nebo, que está na terra de Moabe, defronte de Jericó, e vê a terra de Canaã, que eu dou aos filhos de Israel por possessão;

`Go up unto this mount Abarim, mount Nebo, which in the land of Moab, which on the front of Jericho, and see the land of Canaan which I am giving to the sons of Israel for a possession;

50 e morre no monte a que vais subir, e recolhe-te ao teu povo; assim como Arão, teu irmão, morreu no monte Hor, e se recolheu ao seu povo;

and die in the mount whither thou art going up, and be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother hath died in the mount Hor, and is gathered unto his people:

51 p orquanto pecastes contra mim no meio dos filhos de Israel, junto

`Because ye trespassed against me in the midst of the sons of Israel at the waters of Meribath-Kadesh, the wilderness of Zin -- because ye sanctified Me not in the midst of the sons of Israel;

52 P elo que verás a terra diante de ti, porém lá não entrarás, na terra que eu dou aos filhos de Israel.

but over-against thou seest the land, and thither thou dost not go in, unto the land which I am giving to the sons of Israel.'
